So glad you included the bird part at the beginning. Many other youtubers have cut it out of their posts of this video for some reason. It sets up the second half of the song and it's my favorite part!
Maybie he`s not main in (music composer and text writter) Pink Floyd, but he`s the best on his instrument of them all (Wright is great too RIP)..Dont get me wrong people, they all are great musicians and legends but here Nick is madnes!!
This is the best version of Echoes, far superior to the studio version. It is a perfect amalgamation of past and futuristic themes. I don't like the horror soundtrack bit: the gaggling crows. But I love the end especially the aquatic sound that Wright elicts from his keyboards. They don't make epic sonngs like this anymore.
If only Gilmour's guitar wasn't hummed out by the other sounds this would be the best version of Echoes. You all know what part I'm talking about, right after the buildup when it sounds like you're ascending to heaven lol
Without Pink Floyd most of the sounds we hear in today's music wouldn't have existed, they were the most experimental and technologically advanced band of the era.
How many of the bands around now will still be revered in 40 or 50 years, probably none, but the likes of Floyd will go on for ever
The best thing the director did was include this original film on his "update" DVD. The slow zoom out beats bad computer animation and stock NASA footage any day. And the cymbals are nicely toned down from my old VHS I had in the 80s. Shame they lost all the extra footage of the performance.
There is nothing like that has been released within the past 30 years...not even close. This is a masterpiece that most bands today couldn't even begin to understand.
This is a masterpiece, thought up and created by ROGER WATERS and Rich Wright hit just a few keys. I used to think Gilmour was the man, but the more I learned the more Waters is the real genius behind Pink Floyd. Don't get me wrong Gilmour is great too, but Waters does deserve 90% credit for Pink Floyd's greatness. Don't ever forget this fact!! While all members of Floyd wrote and brainstormed, Waters waters was the creative genius behind the band. cheers
hello I'm 12 years old, and I truely have to say, pink floyd are stunning. Nick Mason inspired me to drum! This is the first song of theres i ever herd, and it was the right one!!!, Thank you for uploading this Quality video :-) RIP Richard Wright. A horrable loss to music history.
@spikew10 ATTA BOY! In youngsters like YOU, we all find hope for a better future. If only ALL children of all ages could learn what the Floyd means with respect to our place in the Universe. You're on the right track little buddy! Thanks for inspiring me!
Back then Pink Floyd took people to places they had never been ...a whole other exciting world ...and that's what music gotta do! They will always be my number one ...larger than life!!!
These Guys Really Did music....!!! like all their other colegues on that era..... people back then really cared... and taked time for what they created....!!! now days... new musicians should learn of guys like them.....

David puts to shame the shredders, who hit the strings too hard. David is smooth to the core.

@spikew10 Don't forget Syd Barrett. He's dead too and he started Pink Floyd. Without him, they wouldn't exist.
