This Rick Masters has to be one of the baddest villains I have ever seen in a movie. Another interesting thing about this movie is that it is about counterfeiters, instead of drug dealers which Friedkin had already done in The French Connection. The counterfeiting scene is great.
@rfa2068 I'm no counterfeiter or anything, but I think they put things like poker chips in the dryer to smack against the bills a bit and make them look "roughed up" and not so brand-spanking new.
The counterfeiting montage looks authentic because Friedkin (the director) consulted actual counterfeiters who had done time. The "consultant" actually did the scenes that do not show actor Willem Dafoe on camera to give this sequence more authenticity
If you ever hear a cop in a movie say "I've only got a few days until retirement", it's pretty much a death sentence.

would it have been possible for him to make more noise than by slamming those dumpster lids open? he definitely needed the ninja perk

I just don't think William Petersen's pants were tight enough.

I assume the drier was to give the money a more worn look.
