  • hahahah how do you think we get some of our electricity....by burning fuel.

  • @foerum151 ok, yes i did think that, i mean gas companies can burn there gas and sell it as electricity for fast charging, but when all that gas is gone, we gan use wind, solar, water, and nuclear power that is better for the enviroment.

  • Nissan does it up.

  • 18 k bike ride in 2 degree rainy weather, then work all day (outside), then 18 more ks to get home.......HA HA HA...........I'll laugh all the way to the tavern!!!!!!!

  • Heres an idea. GET A BIKE YOU LAZY PEOPLE!!!! C'mon, if you travel such a short distance get off your butts and spend the 15 minutes to get somewhere. Save your heart some stress too by giving it some much needed exercise.

  • @gardnerjp1 What about when you want to go shopping for food? Or maybe out for a nice dinner? How about carrying your golf clubs to the course? Or going on a short trip with friends? Bikes are great but they're not the be-all and end-all. Not everyone in a car is lazy. Sometimes people need to drive. People need to do it all, walk, transit, drive, ride, and do whatever works.

  • Driving a Gasoline Car is embarrassing.

  • shut down your audio sistem while watching this clip for 0 waste of electricity, you dont hear anything, becouse its a eco car !

  • The price of the Green n Cars is a SCAM! They start at 26k to 31k. My 2009 Corolla cost 6k. Now if Gas cost $4-gal, in one year (at 12,000-miles per year) that would be $1,464. So it would take over 14 years i.e; 14 x $1,464 = $20,496,

(Plus the 6k I paid for my corolla). For a total of = $26,496. So an Electric car will TAKE 14 + Years (minis the cost of charging it) to match a Gas car like Corolla.

    KEEP YOUR small GAS CAR!

  • @robertquentincobb assuming the price of gas will stay at $4 fat chance that will happen in 14 years it will be $15 /gallon

  • Fast

    Quiet

    Roomy

    Stylish

    Bought it !

    Love it !

  • A 100 mile range... that would last me about 3 weeks of local city driving... back and forth to work and grocery shopping... hmm no gas, oil, very little maintanence.

  • I'd love to get one, but it's simply not practical for me. I live 40 minutes away from my school, which adds up to a MINIMUM of 55 miles roundtrip a day. Now, this is assuming that I only go to and from school, and don't bother making any detours. If this had a 200 mile charge, I'd consider it, but I want to know that I can go off with some friends for a drive after school without worrying if I'll have enough charge. Plus, I live in an area that is unlikely to have any charging stations.

  • @chiefofsages If it plugs into a regular powerpoint then plug in at school. An EV has been my transport for 10 years and, in the absence of the recharge stations that are yet to come, sourcing spots for opportunity charging is a big part of it. Your place of employment is perfect. All you need is an extention cord to a nearby powerpoint and how educational would that be? It's incredibly practical for you.

  • @earthwizz I work at a ski resort and am required to park in a parking lot that is a minimum of about 1000 feet away from the nearest outlet. And, as I said, I will be driving a minimum of 55 miles every day, (which includes many hills), and during the winter, I've heard it could go down as low as 80 miles total, and I've heard that's in the city. So, that's coming awfully close to running out of juice, especially if I need to run to a bank that adds 6 miles to my trip. Just too chancy.

  • @chiefofsages Currently EVs are ideal for city folk. I too have range and terrain needs they would rarely meet, but I'm really stubborn with time and space to mess about and I am in the subtropics so no temperature problems. Fortunately this technology is in its infancy so improvements tend to be large and frequent. It won't be long before you are cruising, silently and inexpensively, through your mountains as I do through mine.

  • The Tesla S 7-seater sedan is better with it over 300 miles range on single 45 minutes charge.

  • @whtukall Yes, but how many people can afford a $50,000 car? Sure, you'll get tax credits, but even then you're still looking at around a $40,000 in the best case scenario (roughly). Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get the car you're pointing out (very sexy), but the price tag is a little high for the average person. But, the high range and quick charge are very appealing offers.

  • Lets got solar roofs everyone. its about time

  • WOW!! 160 KM range? that is impressive compare to poor for ever long lasting 30 mile Chevy volt and i'm sure the Nissan has better quality as well. step in the right direction Nissan well done just make sure not to have it over priced and you will have a winner no doubt

  • @FireOFK Why did you compare kilometers to miles? Also the volt does get 40 miles, i have riden in one and seen it. the leaf will only get 100 miles on a flat road with no a/c or any other electric draw. Also the leaf fails after 100 miles then you are screwed. Have a nice day. =)

  • @mooserman911 40 miles is less than 50% of what Nissan Leaf gets PLUS there is 10,000 dollars difference. leaf is about 10 grand cheaper and travels more than twice. if you already know that leaf drives 100 miles on electric why would not want to not put that into consideration before traveling if you can get 100 miles then drive 90 miles or a bit less to be safe to get to your destination before charging. PRICE, Quality, twice the distance. Leaf is better. :D

  • @FireOFK So? The volt will keep on going when the leaf stops after 100 miles. The volt and leaf are totally different types of vehicles. The closest vehicel that uses the same type of system as the volt is a diesel train. Also I saw a nissan rep say that you need to buy a second vehicle to go over 100 miles, how about that for extra cost. Quality is good for both, most car companies have the same suppliers so, that is wrong too. Volt>leaf.

  • The Idea is great and all and amazing, i'm all for it, however, the energy cost to charge it will way out balance getting a hybrid car and filling it with gas. PLUS, 8 hours to charge only 100 miles per 8 hour charge? ...i mean great if your doing daily tasks, but deff not a vehicle to travel in or do anything to vigorous, driving wise throughout the day. Your probably better off getting a hybrid that is more emissions efficient but gets approx 70 miles per gallon.

  • it a french zipperhead co see all there video s called ( NISSANGATE )

    RECALL FRAUD AND COVER UP

  • This is our future!!!

  • its about time

  • We had this silly negative talk from traditionalists when electric motive power replaced steam locomotives on the railways. Now all countries who invested in electricity are enjoying all its benefits. History is about to repeat itself on the roads.

  • Can't wait to plug it into my solar powered net-zero home...as long as it's under 30K in the states....

  • That talking point is so stale.

    1) Less than half of the electricity in the US is from coal.

    2) Even with coal the energy is 100% domestic, not imported like ~2/3rds of our petroleum is.

    3) It is easier to control pollution at a central source. (eg "Clean" coal)

    4) It is easier to take advantage of (and switch to) alternative energy sources in the future with this technology.

There are legit concerns with electric vehicles, but this isn't one of them.

  • @nitrousboy0311

im tired of stupid comments like that

1st) Look, here are the FACTS. Coal plants are way, way more efficient than 5000 individual combustion engines, meaning you still get electricity from coal, yes, but at over 50% LOWER EMISSIONS

2nd) Electricity comes from MANY sources not just coal and it will be even more diversified in the future.

3rd) Emissions in coal plants are MUCH EASIER TO REDUCE than emissions on 5000 different cars

If you not an engineer than stop posting crap

  • @goma3 lol FUCK This car and it is stupid its hooked up to a pollution plant just give me a hummer.

  • I guess we can "Unable to read" and "Incapable of really easy thinking" to your LONG list of "qualities"

  • a pollution plant? don't you think you they can build those massive filters on a car? no..they have a number of techniques to decrease the emissions (e.g. spraying water at the central's exhaust to get the dust out of the air) I don't see that happening in your car ;) it's just too big...

  • Electric cars are going the only cars I'm ever going to buy from now on.

I only have a 07 Civic, I'm afraid I will have to use it up to it's death since not sure who is going to buy it anymore after EV's are going mainstream most likely by 2015.

  • @Messer262 Great comment......This is the future of cars, and the future IS HERE ! ! !

As a 12 year old boy back in the year 1965 my lungs would burn from Los Angeles smog.....

That would be hard for a Kansas farmer to understand.....That's why Californians are so in

favor of cleaning their act, and they have succeeded in making the air there much cleaner.....And it will get even cleaner....

    Sierra Cuban, Miami, Florida.....

  • @j101saar

Please google "Nissan Leaf" and get your facts straight before posting. Either you are totally misinformed or a complete liar.

  • @j101saar

Please stop regurgitating facts that you heard in some blog or opinion "news" outlet.

The leaf's autonomy driving are for over 50% highway driving at speeds of 65-70mph. With intense city driving, the autonomy is even better as the car fully shuts down when stopped.

Battery life is AT LEAST 1000 charging cycles, actually more close to 1500, so that means at least 80-100k miles

  • The oil companies will squash this idea also, let me see like they did to tiger woods. Its been 2 years since the volt

by chevy was introduced, where is it?????

  • coming out this year 2010

  • from now I don't buy any gasoline car

  • @hotcuts6064 yes me too. I'm waiting for an electric car :)

  • SOLAR POWER + ELECTRIC CARS = FREEDOM !

  • We need to get off of fossil fuels as soon as possible. Electric cars may help make this happen, however efficiency leads to less jobs. Think off all the gas stations, mechanics, and suppliers. A few more to possible add to the unemployment lines.

Look at what the internet has done for efficiency. Why have a thousand stores when you can order online from one. Just a thought...

  • Any word on range and price?

  • I do not like Nissan, but you have to admit Nissan has just raised the bar on electric cars. Volt is always saying "will release ....." Well when will the Volt come to pass. Tired if being held up by strings. Cut me loose.

  • toyota needs to come out with an electric car. toyota would totally shatter the car industry if they did

  • all japanese car manufacturers are now going to release pure electrics. they have announced it.

  • Toyota did do electric cars they did an electric rav 4 they gave up on them when the law was relaxed after the petrol industry complained . and just started making rubbish hybrids instead .

  • GREAT!!!. i think this is even better than hybrids, but a step back from "plug-in hybrids" i'd buy one obviously. this will be a daily driver and if cross-country travel is needed. i'll just use my larger ICE car. but for my 97% daily commute. this is perfect. i wonder how much. im tired of gassing my EVO every week and a half and costing 40 some bucks. lets have it EVs. nice job nissan. brining a powerhouse (GT-R & 370Z) and an EV at the same time. you made a believer in me.

  • Not a bad idea but it can only got 100 miles before needing a charge... I'll pass on this and wait till the technology is actually legit.

  • do you think the world banks and the oil companies will let them untap the batteries so you can get the real 500 mile range?

they would be shut down within seconds. wars would break out. and we'd invade them under the guise of "weapons of mass distruction" again.

  • i agree.

  • the is a nice vehicle....by the looks of 1:58..its has good pick up from a stop...the interior is very nice...i think nissan may have a winner with this 1...now if this car would start under $24,000 US dollars...this could be the prius of full electirc cars...in terms of sales and respect

  • Candidate it to the Car of the Year 2010 globally. Enough of smelly gasoline and diesel vehicles.

  • Really sharp car. I would use this as a commuter car.

  • Three words: I want one.

As for the look, I like it. I like the color, I like how it kind of looks like a Toyota Matrix, and I like the interior. I'd like it even more if I could buy one today.

  • I'm european and I have no idea which cars you are talking about. The Th!nk? A small and ugly car that is in excess of €40 000 and with a €180 monthly fee.

  • HAHAHA.. nooo... not that one..

I'm sorry... my bad.. not European.. but Tesla, the American electric car company.. my point is electric cars should look as good as the gasoline based car..

  • oh btw, the Volvo S60 concept car is one hell of a good car.. very nice concept car!! =D

  • I don't know why you hide my commit,I thank everyone know this car will be compared to the chevy volt and the cadillac converj as far as looks...
