  • Star to be is the best part

  • My favorite is from 3:50 top 4:50

  • Omg! im gonna cry, love this song!

  • Wow, I get to be Star to Be in the play where I live. I need to get help with this part! Lol! It's so belty!

  • If i was in this i'd want to be the star to be, even though its not a big part :)

  • @strawberryhearts4 That Star-To-Be part is so hard to sing. That's one of my roles at my school musical. It's.. oh my goodness :x

  • @BethanyOMNOMNOM i figured, its pretty belty. Is it soprano or messo?

  • Interesting Fact: The Star-To-Be once played Annie in one of the movies.

  • @Zakary42 She actually played Annie on Broadway not in a movie.

  • Screw Empire State of Mind. This is my New York City song.

  • Maybe the last great American musical. Packed with singable songs, not lame faux r&b crap.

  • I like this song but the 1982 version, I think, is better. But I guess the 1999 version is closely related to the play we are doing

  • apperently ther are 4 tonedeaf people in this worls who clicked dislike

  • Love dis song! <3!

  • aww

  • Fab song ! Was in NYC this time last year. This song makes me miss it soo much :(

    GO NYC!!!! <3 <3 <3

  • I'm auditioning for Star To Be at my local drama group next week!

  • The ending "credits" are obnoxious. But I love love love this song, makes me so happy to listen to it.

  • I'm going to NYC in a few days and I sing this every time I walk around the city ^^

  • audra mcdonald :)

  • NYC my fav. state/city of them all :D

  • This is my favorite Musical, and my favorite song. A True Classic!

  • I am ADDICTED to this song!!! Especially 3:50 to 4:50!!! Ahhh my childhood!!!

  • I was born in 1998 and this movie came out in like 1999. When I was 4, I would dance and sing to this song, and I was in Ballet, and I always wanted to play Annie in the stage play. I never got to, but my friend did and Im so happy for her!!! I still watch it all the time!!! Take this from a girl who watched it 5 times ever night from ages 2-8 :

This movie can never grow old.

  • love this song..........

  • this song just makes me cry and makes my love for nyc grow (= <3

  • i LOVEEEEE this song!!!!! <3

  • **eyes tear up** I saw this as an actual play, and it was amazing, (Annie xD).....This was my favorite song :D

  • did u know the girl who does the really pretty solo was annie on broadway when she was little?

  • @Cetty22 ;O really?

  • hahaha! my sister was also in the play with me at my school when she wus in lyk around middle school lyk 8th grd!, and she had to sing this with another person! :p

  • I love, love, love 3:51-4::50

  • i feel like this should be playing 24/7 on the streets of New York City

  • 3:51- 4:51 best minute ever!!

  • @dotdiva123456 AGREED!

  • @dotdiva123456 Andrea McArdle sings really well

  • @BoeingB17FF She was the original Annie on the Broadway show. Which is kind of funny of what her appearance in the song.

  • were doing this play for schhol and im Sandy......plzz make a video respond or comemtn or message me on wat i should wear!!

  • @ilovechristpherdrew Sandy ? The Dog , Sandy ?

  • @berriesmmm haha eya im being the dog

  • @ilovechristpherdrew Wow , we're doin' the musical too , and we're using my drama teacher's Dog .

I love him too though ... NeverShoutNever ..

  • does anyone know what grace said in the beginning answering the butlers question?

  • @melnorona no, i think shes been cooped up long enough.....thats what grace said to answer his question

  • @Pouncersgurl13 thanks i couldnt hear what she said

  • @melnorona Your Welcome Sweetie

  • Three bucks? Damn!

  • Do you have the "Tomorrow" reprise, when Grace is comforting Annie about leaving Daddy Warbucks? :D

  • I like both versions. The 1980s version was able to do more things because it wasn't based on the stage play as much as the 1999 version. But I think I overall love the 1999 version the best.

  • This is A LOT better if you actually see the play.

  • My favorite is from around 3:50 until the end.

  • @VampSlayer17 i love that part too... that was the original Annie right??.... :))

  • @VampSlayer17 I think my favorite is from 0:00 to 6:31

  • @Bzamm615 my favorite part is 6:31

  • @huevosplash1 To each their own

  • Comment removed

  • @VampSlayer17 Is your username a Buffy reference?

  • @Bzamm615

No. Sorry, lol. I mean, it could be if you wanted it to be. 'cause, woot Buffy!

But it's just from an old Gaia username I had.

  • @VampSlayer17 Oh... Now I'm sad...

  • Me too!

  • I really love this song... Love to NYC

  • The star-to-be is not Audra McDonald, but Andrea McArdle.

  • This is my favourite song out the 1999 version, but the '82 version is far better overall.

  • I'm gonna audition for Annie in the spring, can't wait :)

  • @teamedward1117 Good luck!!! :)

  • this is one of my vey favourire dedicated to the Big Apple.

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • i cant believe this got replace by that movie song in the 82 version theis one rocks like there's no 2morrow :)

  • This is one of the many reasons that the 1999 version wins.

This song is my favorite, and the fact that Andrea McArdle is in it? Amazing!

I hated that the other version completely deleted the song and put a boring song in it's place!

  • this is perfect for y presentation

  • that makes sence

  • 3 pplwere rockin out 2 this song and missed and pressing the dislike button!

  • Ah! Do you have the "Tomorrow" Reprise? The one Audra McDonald sings towards the end? :D

Great post, by the way! :)

  • i freakeb love thus song !

  • I LOVE this 1999 version WAY better than the Carol Burnett version. (I always thought she was WAY too drunk for a children's movie) I'm glad Disney decided to clean it up for the new generations. And may I say that Alicia Morton R-O-C-K-S!!!! Thanks for posting this!!

  • seriously? who are the three people that gave this a thumbs down? maybe they gave it a thumbs down because it made them too happy and they passed out.

  • 3:50 my favourite Part. LOL

  • when iwas 5 years old, iwas in a local performence. that show was annie. this was the only song iremember starring in.

    1 year later iwent there

im a jersey girl and ilove nyc <3

  • This Annie is like the cutest thing ever!

  • Annie was my first play ever! and this was the number i was in,I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT SO SO MUCHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1982 > 1999

  • VICTOR GARBER FLIPPING WINS!!!!

  • This is the best version of Annie if only for the re-inclusion of this, my favorite song in the show. And bringing an adult Andrea McArdle into the mix was genius!

  • i prefer th voice of th 82 annie but i like the 99 movie more...y? lol ty 4 the lyrics

  • awww i love this :)

  • Excellent perfect timing :)

  • @twillightzonecx lucky but im annie and i got a dog named pepper

  • i was annie !

  • listen. Can you take that thing that box away/.

  • Gosh! Now I wanna go to NYC! lol. I LOVE ANNIE!! <3

  • I'm the star to be in my local theater's production!!! Woot!!

  • Its Naomi Bennett from Private Practice as Grace. I had NO IDEA till just NOW. love this movie even MORE now!!

  • cool

  • my boy friend in annie play sings and dancing too this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is my favorite song in the whole movie!! i love love love audra mcdonald who played as grace i love im absoluity jelous bt in a good way because she has the most pretiest voice ever! :)

  • i like this version far more than the 1982 one.

  • My cousin and I watched this late last night. This was our favorite song/scene! :)

  • i sure as hell wasn't singing this when i was in New York last week... walking down 5th.... Nope not at all...

  • Loooove this song!

  • i have to audition this song from 4:16-4:50

  • @dselony cool! I'm auditioning for Annie also in my county

  • @dselony and i'm doing 3:52-4:15. good luck with your audition! That's a tough part to sing!

  • i am too! are doing it with or without an accompmant intro?

  • Yes in N Y C!! :D

  • STAR TO BE!!!!!!!!!1

  • @gubie495 I know!!!! Love it

  • @CubicalGirl NICE COMEBACK

  • Best version out of all the Annie's, in my opinion.

  • Andrea McArdle is really the only voice I like in this song

  • @CubicalGirl

For the simple fact you call her Audra McArdle.... completely takes all credibility away from your opinion...so... wrong, Victor garber and Alicia Morton are amazing... While Audra MCDONALD is definitely far superior.... the other two do just fine

  • Next time you try to diss someone on here you should do a little research of your own before you make a fool of yourself for not knowing anything and there for taking credibilty away from whatever it is you say. Andrea McArdle, aka the original Broadway Annie, makes a little cameo in this song and movie. At 3:52 is ANDREA MCARDLE'S voice not AUDRA MCDONALD!

  • Well that still doesn't solve the problem of your opinion being totally and utterly wrong, now does it?

  • @CubicalGirl Yupp. She play the "Star-To-Be"

  • NICE COMEBACK

  • Andrea McArdle isn't even in this song . . .

Her name is Alicia Morton; Annie, that is.

  • Andrea McArdle actually IS in this song...if you ever see the movie the lead singer in the broadway show they see, that singer is Andrea McArdle. She is the original Annie from broadway and has a little cameo in this song and movie

  • @CubicalGirl

But this is the movie version, correct? Meaning that this is Alicia Morton singing. But are you simply saying that Andrea McArdle has a little part in this song?

  • @universalxoxo

Andrea McArdle IS in this. She plays "Star To Be".

  • i am the star-to-be in my school play in central vally 5th grade

  • I'm Bert Healy in this production!

  • I love this song, but it just annoys me how they absolutely HAD to change these little remote things about that song from the old version..... I luv the song though :)

  • YAY!! im in this number in my community production of Annie! but im only ensemble :-/

  • Hey do you have any mp3 downloads for this movie? :)

  • Every single version of this song is either different from the actual original Annie the musical, or it's played by some tone deaf guy. This guy speech-sings it nicely though. ^.^ I just don't like how the lyrics were interpreted.

  • It would be awesome to live in the 20's

  • i think it would suck you wouldn't be able to go on youtube

  • @HaMicah87 Yeah, spanish flu, shit economy... But then again, people broke into song on the streets apperently... Cool!

Also, this show takes place in '33.

  • @canuckleful There was spanish flu in the thirties??? LOL

  • @marissav119 I meant the 20's but, nice catch. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @locochic123 Ummm. The movie was made in the 90s, however the movie takes place in the 30s. Actually, I believe Miss Hannigan says it's 1933 in the movie.

  • @HaMicah87

it's actually set in the early 30's

  • @HaMicah87 unless you were well off, money-wise, it really wouldnt be awesome to live in the 20s.

  • @RENThead12 the 20s were a time of great prosperity for most (Booming 20s?) so, it would be nice to live in the 20s. it was a period of great joy, wealth, and fun. Minus prohibition era violence life was pretty good for the most part. Search it- you'll see all the flapper girl type stuff.

And anyway, what you said would be true of any decade. Generally those who are better off money wise generally have a better time- not having to struggle and all.

  • @HaMicah87 they were pretty broke but yeah id have to agree. they were so cool at the same time.

  • @tiggie4342 during the 20s the US was in a period of a great surplus of money following WW1(booming 20s..). You're thinking of the 30s(the great depression)

  • @HaMicah87 no it wouldnt...the great depression

  • @starrissupercrazy the great depression was in the 30s...

  • @HaMicah87 only if I lived like Daddy Warbucks! lol i would too!

  • @HaMicah87 this movie was set in the 30s

  • im playing the star to be in my school production of annie

  • This sums up my feelings about my hometown entirely. He is absolutley right about it. You live here all your life, and never truly embrace it.

  • I know the feeling. I've lived in Toronto for as long as I can remember and now that we may move, I'm realizing how much I'll miss everything about it.

  • Wow I'm from T Dot too, and I've moved so many times, but I'll always love Toronto. I swear no other city is just like it.

  • @ayngel3

Agreed. Love Dundas Square during Christmas ;)

  • @ayngel3

And the U campus downtown! Haha..

  • The part were its the star to be when she sings NYC just got here this morning, well im trying out for this part and i think im gunna make it, for my broadway play!!!! :))))))))))))))

  • Thanks for posting!

  • The lady who sings in the part where Warbucks annie and grace are watching the show that they went to see, The lady in the "show' was the orginal annie in the orginal broadway show.

  • i did this for my ballet finale song .

  • I still can't believe Victor Garber did so well in playing Oliver Warbucks! Does anyone remember seeing him as Jesus in Godspell (Movie Version, at least). What a huge transition! He's one of those all-time best actors, in my opinion.

  • The 1999 version pwns and rocks!! I have this on tape but my VCR crapped out years ago. This makes me happy! Going to get the DVD so my daughter can enjoy this movie like I have. Thanks for this! Favorite song in the film.
