SGU doesn't really have much in the way of new ideas, Lost, BSG, Voyager, and a few other things. The characters were mostly just ok. Still, it showed some promise and some good work was done on the show, and some of the episodes certainly improved, I was a bit sad to have it end.
@Usul573 did not see your reply when i wrote the other one, i hear ya it did have promise, like a lot of other people say too by the end of the second season it started getting better. But that's the kicker, i watched maybe the first 5 episodes before i stopped and hated it. i did not watch the rest of it until later on after it was canceled. First few episodes are a big deal a very big deal they should have done more for them.
@Usul573 wowing camera angles and expensive sets is not why SG1 lasted 11 years SGA could have gone on that long as well. Its about the story and relationships between the peeps. and to add the robot in SGU vs Cylon's.. Yes it is not very complex and SGU fans call it bubblegum viewing but it is entertaining, at the end of the day that is why we watch T.V.

It was almost like a ripoff of the newer Battlestar Galactica which I find very dull. SG1 and Atlantis are only ones I refer as Stargate. The only two Stargate series that I found great and fun with some comedy. They were my substitute for Star Trek. SGU had none of that. Oh this was a parody/homage to Star Trek, my most beloved favorite sci-fi franchise.
@TheStarTreker The show didn't fail(though I admit that Season 1 had some REALLY BAD episodes like the Darkness-Light two-parter in which nothing happened except that Rush went nuts and Destiny flew in a star REAL SLOW). Season 2 gradually became better and Universe was leading up to the STARGATE GRAND FINALE which was cancelled. Stargate Universe was my fav Stargate series.
Watching this reminds me how much I miss the good ol' Stargate days. And not this SGU emo dark shit! I glad it's ending, so we can all look forward to the SGA movie that was planned!
