Colored chickens in China

For all you morons who say they just inject the egg with dye and that this is perfectly harmless, you should know that that isnt always what happens. Sometimes the chicks are actually dipped in the dye when they're alive and then heated in an oven to make them look like that... about 70% die.

Coloring the chicks is a perfectly humane, painless, and harmless process. The chicks feel no pain, they are in the embryo stage inside the egg, and the dye doesn't cause any health problems later in life. once they molt out of the baby feathers they turn into normal-colored chickens. What's inhumane is that owners will sometimes throw out the chicken once it molts into it's natural color.

I'm not so sure that putting them in a plastic bag is safe though.

Also the people who impulse buy them have no idea how to care for them either. So all in all the coloured chicks are animal cruelty

it isn't very good for 200 chicks to be cooped up in a 15 sq ft space, but the different colors are not cruel at all. if they dunked the chicks in dye, half of them would probably drown, and at least people would learn that this is less productive, if not realizing the abusive factor of this method. the chicks are dyed before they are born.

@GruntNL I'm not sure how unhealthy the coloring is to the baby chicks but in most cases after buying the colored chick, they end up being dumped later after their feathers start growing in, because their buyers were upset about it becoming a "normal" chicken.

I know that. Fish, shrimp and other sea animal aren't usually smart. They have very insensitive feeling and they are bred for food. Killing an ant is a huge different to killing a person.

I've seen many Americans killing animals. I've seen Americans slicing a cow alive. After the slicing, the head is burned. This is done all for fun. I've seen them burning a small baby bird. They prepared wood in a talk and lit it up with fire, then they threw the baby bird in.

Wrong on many levels. They dye the chicks colors to sell them. Probably because they are male chickens which grow to roosters. So they dont lay eggs and are worthless (to most peopple). Who knows whats in the dye. Probably not healthy. Put in a plastic bag because plastic bags are cheep cheep. How is this done ? I know it is normally food colouring that is used but I believe that the dye is injected into the egg around 17/18 days into incubation and the chicks hatch off coloured. I don't think that they are tossed in food colouring - but I stand corrected if they are.
