The resemblance is there, but it's too urgent. It makes sense for SF since you can't pause with the music (Thus you're always in constant motion), but for a platformer, the pauses in the track sounds more like audio ques for the player to stop moving before continuing. This is great for a speedrunner, but for most players, this choice of tempo would of been changed pre-production.
I love how well the boss music cues in with the start of the level! Also I thought that considering that Star Fox 64 was on the same system, it would sound the same as it always did, perhaps different chips were used for the cartridges?
I made the Dark Fierce Deity Link Mod and I was wondering if you can make a patch of Dark Link's voice and my Dark Fierce Deity Link Pack so I can import them into Majora's Mask?
It doesn't use the same sequence format. From what I've looked, only Nintendo-developed games produced between 1996-1998 (F-Zero X being an exception) use this sequence format (actually, there are many variations from game to game, but the overall structure is the same).
I tried importing a sequence from Zelda 64 a few days ago. It works, but requires a lot more changes because the format is a bit different (but still a modified version of the one used in Mario64). I'll probably upload a video when I got a good sequence running.
In theory, all the sequences from Star Fox can be played from Mario64, however the drum tracks usually get messed up because the samples are different.
Well, I meant any musics that would "sound good". I'm not talking about code, I'm talking about aesthetics. :) Like I said, this particular music sounds neat especially on this level, even when it uses SM64 instruments.
Ops, sorry. I still have to listen more the SF64 soundtrack, but the problem is that it's very "military", so most of the time it doesn't fits well on the Mario universe (except maybe for Bowser levels, like this one). I'll see if there are other suitable songs.
Boss E music is the only music.

IF there was atime limit to these stages (like you had to bust ass to make it), this music would go so much better.

So that includes Robotron, right?
weckar 3 years ago
That game was developed by "Player 1", not by Nintendo.

This song, one of the boss themes, is one of my favorites in Starfox 64. Awesome!
I too have spoken with unknownfile about Starfox 64 before as well. :P

Wow. Very nice. But sad thing is that I hate Starfox. I don't like those flying ship kind of games. ):
But really, it even sounds nice in the title screen song! Keep it up.
If you don't have ideas for another song, how about something from.........
Banjo-Kazooie?
Or Maybe SMB2 boss song?
dudaw12 3 years ago
I'm not a fan of Starfox either, but this one might fit for some "boss" level in Mario64.

Now that sounds pretty cool. I wonder if there are any other possibilities, that is, of other Starfox musics that could play in Mario 64?

The music isn't as cool as the "originals" But still neat that you can do that.

Cool. I've never played much of Star Fox, so to me this sounds like cool Kirby. Great job.
