He was the first "comedian" I saw on TV when I first came to Japan, and I have watched his shows once in a while thereafter. I was not impressed and I am horrified that he is now in NHK. Granted, I am not an expert and never watch him now. Being an open-minded person, I invite you to put a couple of links of what defines him as comedian. Me, I prefer Ega-chan... as prime minister !!!!

One of the most embarrasing moments in Jap TV, a legend that rarely gave interviews and an incompent with an inflated ego blows his chance and makes the whole event about himself. In any normal country said incompetent would blow his carrier prospects, instead he is still glorified in Jap TV (what a generous country!). Comedian my ass, comedians are guys like George Carlin and Jon Stewart, this guy is a living proof of the low standards of Japanese media. Thanks Youtube for documenting this.

This was an excerpt of the longer interview by Tamori (foremost comedian in Japan), which was conducted in 1985. This is a famous comedy TV program (Konya wa Saikou). Miles knew that this was a comedy show. According to Tamori who is a huge fan of Miles from the 60s, Miles was very impressed that he was very knowledgeable about all his work, and after the interview, Miles gave him an autograph on Tamori's trumpet (he plays a little too).
