Dude you can write! I can think of at least two country artists and two pop artists that could sing that song and make it a hit. With some orchestration (and maybe a heavier bridge - though I hate myself for suggesting it) - I think that song is a hit. As is - it;'s a subtle and heartfelt ballad. Outstanding work.

just takes practice man. get the ability to play first and then start trying to write. while you're learning, make sure to play songs you actually like hearing and playing. people stray because their teachers make them play classical, a genre that many people are very interested in when learning, ya know?
