  • Actually the Black Death did not discriminate between rich and poor; it killed everyone from paupers to yeoman to bishops and knights

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 Funny how diseases tend not to discriminate. I think the story in the song was that fear was what killed the rich people inside the castle walls "who didn't move and played it safe."

  • @RMcVey461

Indeed; good song all the same

  • Those fingers look like frostbite.

  • Strange only Christians died

  • @TheAmazingamerica, I'm not sure only Christians died but I have heard that Jews did not die in the numbers Christians did and even Christians in towns with large Jewish populations fared better. My speculation is maybe Jewish people were a bit more sanitary, and if they represented a larger part of the population may have influenced their neighbors. I think that would be a topic worth further checking.

  • @TheAmazingamerica not all christians. cuz in that time only russian christians had bathhouses and plague has never been in russia. i think the same situation with muslims....

  • Thanks for your comments. Interesting.

  • great vid but it was called the black death but it was cool how you put the pic of the bell cause that was one of there so called *cures*was ringing the bells or shooting cannons to scare away the plague

  • This always seemed like such an odd "song" for a rock band, but it is truly mind expanding as were many songs of the era.

  • @peckerwood57 The song never did fit well with any of my play lists but as a stand alone it made a hell of a statement.

  • very poetic i loved it

  • Thanks

  • @stantheman42069 Thanks for your comments. Wow 8 months for me to respond. Sorry for the delay.

  • RMcVey

great video...was gonna do something similar but you beat me to it...good on you

I used to play this in a dark room way back then...pretty scary

    Jim

  • Thanks, quite some subject matter to work with here and the Animals song fits the subject. "Bring out your dead.!"

  • This song is called "The Black Plague" by Eric Burdon & The Animals. On the album "Winds of Change".

  • Thanks, I did respond to Lynn be a separate message to let her know who the artists were etc. Also, there are credits at the end of this clip identifying the Animals and the name of the song. Thanks for helping though.

  • hi there, now thats a great video! im training to be a history teacher and i'm teaching the black death shortly, what is the name of this song?? im thinking of getting the kids to make their own video as a presentation to this song, but i dont know whats its called! lol, just a bit before my time lol. hope you can help. Lynn

  • Thanks. Hope it helps the kids understand how big a calamity this was.

  • Thanks. The sad part about all of this is that the people, through their own ignorance, helped spread this disease.

  • fucking creepy but never the less good

  • Burdons voice has nothing lost after all these years,, a greatr performer...Animals rule!!

  • Vielen Dank!

  • Yep, I think it will hang on for a while longer. I hope this helps.

  • A very special song by the Animals. Lugubrious and morbid, as it's theme.

    Great soulful work.

  • gross

  • CREEEEEEPY

  • Yep, it displays how much people living at the time did no know about basic sanitation. Among other things.

  • haha

freakofdamusik18 is in my grade XD

    yeah, this was in school...

  • That's cool, thanks for letting me know. That must have been a really bleak time in Europes history. As it was sanitation was pitiful and I am sure this just added to the misery.

  • i saw this in chool!

  • This video?

  • yea the exact one

  • That's cool, mind if I ask which school? I gave my daughter a copy of this some time ago and she gave it to her teacher. Are you zip 65721?

  • sorry i didn't post back in a while, i go to gaudet and my zip is 02842

  • Yeah thst is quite a ways from Ozark, Mo.

  • The Brits seem to have a way with this sort of thing. Listen to Donovan in his song Atlantis.

  • Hey Rich ~ Thanks for the time you invested in this wonderful presentation. Nobody can paint a darker mood with a voice than Eric Burdon.

  • very goog video but i must say this is without a doubt the most fucked up thing i have seen since the kmer rouge but a least you weren't bullshiting on how horrible it was sometimes the truth can be scary.

  • Thanks

  • great vid were learning about this in history now so i decided too look up stuff about the bubonic plague

  • Thanks. I had the fortune of being in Europe for a number of years and a great teacher while I was there.

  • The horrifying thing to me about this bacteria, is how it turns parts of you deep purple in the final stages. Doesn't that happen to a person with gangreen as well?

  • oh well

  • Yeah could someone write down all that he just said? I wonna use it in somthing but I cant make out it all. Please? Anyways yeah well It started with rats cause back then they never had sewer systems and then came air born and fleas air swung it around like butter on hot toast.

  • lol the romans were smarter then them lol

  • The black plague could be killed with soap and water but only rich could afford it then. Fleas were what caused the black plague.

  • the rich people also got killed by the plague? how, if they were locked within the castle?

  • From estimates I have read about 1/3 of the European population was lost as a result of the Plague. I'm sure some rich people were lost as well as poor.

Regardless, this is pretty unusual stuff for a rock and roll band.

  • not to be rude but it was 75% of the population that was lost if sone rich survived they had to work on the fields when the peasents died

  • The Black Death is estimated to have killed 30% to 60% of Europe's population.[8][9][10] It may have reduced the world's population from an estimated 450 million to between 350 and 375 million in 1400.[11]

  • ok if u say but im just goin by wat the teachers an video on the history channel say srry

  • I've tried to reply twice but it does not seem to show on the posted comments.

  • Ok I found it but not associated with this thread. What I said was to go with what your teachers told you because that is what they will test you on not what I say.

  • cool

  • Thanks

  • Thank you.

  • Powerful poem...excellent chioce of pictures. Great work!
