When wrighting this I thought about how stupid I seem compared to you, you come up with this whole video to explain your beleifs and some other things, and I express myself in: awesome.   • I've used this video in numerous examples, the definition of a god, the definition of atheism, the different forms of atheism, etc. It just covers all of the bases.

  • Just because there are atheistic religions doesn't make atheism a religion. Atheism is just a position that you can take on whether or not you believe in a god or gods. That's why a person can be an atheist, but may or may not have a religion. Buddhism is considered by many to be a religion, but it has no gods.

    However, that does not mean that Atheism is a religion. There are certainly many Atheists who do not practice any form of religion, though they have strong personal beliefs.

  • @shrikechan I mentioned to a friend that Buddhism doesn't have any deities, and he said that there is Tara, a meditation deity. I don't know much about Buddhism. Does she/they count? Wikipedia says they're often considered metaphoric for Buddhist virtues.

  • @graey42 Depends on the sect of Buddhism...Buddhism as a whole tends to be atheistic and Gautama Buddha's view on theism as dangerous doesn't help the attempted theistic revision of Buddhism either.

  • @ucanifuwant I named myself after *A* sungod, and I did that to call attention to the fact that the Abrahamic god and Christian variant of that are both depicted as sun-gods. My symbol is not a hexagram. Look up what a hexagram is, and that should be obvious immediately. My son made up the word, zopdoz because he wanted to create a word that could always be read properly on an airplane propeller. No reverse symbolism. Don't imagine what was never -and will never- be there.

  • @ucanifuwant Amen-Ra was a long time before the Qur'an. If you look back far enough, it becomes clear that some versions of the god of Abraham were based on sun-gods, and Amen-Ra in particular.

    Also, my son and I did intend to put zopdoz on a propeller, and if you connect the dots on that design, you won't get a hexogram; you'll get a pentangle. Not a pentacle nor a pentagram, just a very strained five-sided polygon.

  • I am having an argue with someone. She claims that there is no such thing as a religion without a god. While I and some friends of mine have tried explaining to her that buddhism or pantheism are such religions, she just won't budge. She says that the pantheist god is without a doubt a deity, a supernatural being, while we say that their god is just an emotion, not a god in it's traditional sense. I know this is not exactly your field of expertise, but could you possibly make a video about it?

I don't tend to label myself but I am comfortable being called many things, like Taoist, Buddhist, Agnostic or Atheist. Note, this is just how other people label me and I wont disagree with them, I prefer to think about other things.

    And actually, the correct word could be symbology as it pertains to a symbol but symbolism could also be correct depending on context.

    The simple "truth" is none of us really knows diddley squat. We all have our ideas about what is possible, or probable, but since there is no proof of anything we can only "guess" and relate our "guesses" to each other as the truth.

  • Nice video but what i didn't like is that when you talk about subsets of atheist for Communist you took worst possible example of Joseph Stalin, also you say "Communist" but on vid is written "Totalitarians" witch is just plain wrong, because yes Joseph Stalin was totalitarian but not all communist are and basics of communism as described by Carl Marx are non totalitarian, in fact pure communism would be classless and stateless. Sorry for my English if i miss typed anything or something.

  • @AronRa Karl Marx was an ass as well so don't worry for using Stalin cause the USSR was a communist state that was ruled by a totalitarian. Communism is just an economic theory that says we don't need money and that we can all share and work to improve things. Just a rough overview of it, more complex than that like many things are.

  • Even christians may referee to an "universal God" in their explanations but their conclusions are specific to a "personal God". A Universal God can have direct connection to all that's known as the Universe, but not a linguistic connections with humans - as the bible implies.

  • It's not that simple... Specific religions like Christianity, as in the way the Bible is understood by most followers of this religion - lead to the idea of a "Personal God" - and also take the biblical events literally, as if the bible is a book of history.

    But beyond that idea of a "personal God" there is also a belief non-biblical in an "Universal God" - take Spinoza's God as example. And I believe in an "Universal God" - yet by this image, you can exclude the connection with religion.

Facts and nothing more, he wanted proof; I have showed him proof at the similarities, I find it odd that these deities all share the same dates, same disciples, even same deaths and same resurrections, it started with Horus. Honestly, put down the bible and notice that there is a lot more books out there. If you want to make a statement like Jesus authenticity be ready to back it up. I am a scientist, I consider myself that.

  • I refuse to be defined by my 'not belief'' in a god. In that regard, I don't have much invested in debating believers...or non-believers. I have always been more interested in a qualiative discourse concerning the ontological 'quiddity' of what we are.

  • Atheism IS a form of religion, as the atheist has faith that there is no "God or higher being" when it can not be proven either way.

    Ask yourself this Q, Can I be sure there is no God in all the vastness of the universe? For you to answer this Q honestly, you must know all there is to be known throughout the whole universe, this is so obviously impossible.

  • @Samuria11 I knew about that before Zeitgeist, I am a scientist, that means that I debunk theories regarding religion, but here is another one. But first there is no escaping the fact that everything that religion holds dear came from the Egyptians. But here is another one...how about Diana of the Ephesians and how she became to be known as the Virgin Mary. It is a well known fact. Although Horus was never debunk. I can go on, as a matter of fact, I think I will make a video soon.

  • @zombeepictureshow I’ve read “Backgrounds of early Christianity” Everett Ferguson, “Who Wrote the Bible” Richard Freidman, “Who Wrote the New Testament” Burton Mack, “The End of Biblical Studies” Hector Avalos, “Misquoting Jesus” Bart Ehrman, These two must be read together “The Case for Christ” Lee Strobel, "Challenging the Verdict” Earl Doherty... Horus is mentioned in about 2 sentences in all of that. It’s much more complicated than Bargeman would like it to be.

  • @zombeepictureshow I’m sorry, but you are using E. A. Wallace Budge as a source, he’s considered to be outdated. Lisa Bargeman got her ideas from him so you’ve given me one source. If you’re going to make a video I’d suggest using Raymond Faulkner’s translation of “The Book of the Dead” when you quote from if as to stay away from Budge’s work. I have read up on early Christianity and I still haven’t run into anything that makes it look like Christianity was a copy paste of Egyptian mythology... 

  • @Samuria11 That was just on the top of my head, but if you are looking for actual proof I recommend you read Bertrand Russell, My favorite book of his is A history of western philosophy, well worth the read. But any book of his, will do. But this is one will have what you are looking for. History of Western Philosophy and Its Connection with Political and Social Circumstances from the Earliest Times to the Present Day.

  • We see the same problem, and it is a problem, but it's not to say that there is not a true vine.

    The truth of the gospel has been masculated by men and the modern church, I do not go to any church establishment, I prefer to keep away from those "white washed walls" as they are full of themselves not God. The modern day church (body of Christ) is a bad example of what should be an encouraging message, instead what do we see, rich idiots pushing vulnerable folk over, asking for money. It's a joke.

  • @QAndyJack it seems rather arrogant to assert that you know what someone else thinks about a particular topic. Ask most atheists point blank "Does a god exist?" And the answer will typically be I don't know. However, if you ask them "Does the christian god exist?" and they will typically answer with a simple "no"

    Have you ever asked them what they think, rather than telling them what they think?

  • I have met with many atheists and my experience is that they all disbelieve in any kind of God.

    When you dig a little further, it becomes quite obvious that they just don't hate the idea of a God, they also hate the folks who believe there is a God, specially the Christian God as portrayed in the Bible, this myself I have experienced, I paint all atheists with the same brush, they make a religion out of hating Christian folk, you can see the length some people go to on youtube..

    Well, that depends on your definition of hate. Talking to people, watching videos and listening to athiests on youtube, they seem to "hate" theists in much you same way people "hate" to get the hiccups. I wouldn't say this is true of all of them........ because that would be stupid.

    On the other hand, most fundamentalist theists I've run into hate other religions and the people who practice them with an incredible amount of vitriol.

    I have nothing but love respect and respect for all on YT and all of mankind.

    God is real, for I was a horrid piece of crap years back, how could I changed from someone who could not forgive, have a hatred towards a person I did not even know?

    But now, I am a new creature in Christ, I have found the truth, those who are broken and are at the end of themselves, willing to be humbled will find the truth.

    True love and peace is out there waiting for everyone.

  • I used to run with the Swindon Town crew back in the 80's from time to time, it was for the excitement/rush, any apposing soccer teams fans that were visiting are town used to get a beating (sometimes) except when millwall, Bristol City and Portsmouth were visiting, every soccer club used to have a hard core of 300 to 1000 violent fans.

    I'm afraid to say I got mixed up with them from time to time, they hated us and we hated them.

There are Buddhist monks that have made profound changes in their lives that have nothing to do with a God or gods.     I identify myself as an atheist and I don't hate Christians. My family and friends are mostly made up of Christians and I enjoy my time around them, even if we don't share the same thoughts about theism.

    I would hope that with this new information you will cease painting me with that brush.

    Most of my experiences with atheist are pretty bad, you just have to look at the type of language being banded around on YT from Atheist to believers.

  • @AronRa Goddamn, I have the perfect example of how you use faith. You believe that life formed naturally, and yet you have no real world evidence to support that belief.

    In fact, to believe that the instructional systems in a cell formed without intelligence goes completely against our own observations, because the only thing we have EVER observed producing such informati
