A second stereotype is that, based on the population numbers alone, any east asian portrayed in a cartoon are assumed to be Chinese, unless there is something that says otherwise, like a bandana, or a flag, or something.

I guess the stereotype is reserved for the Chinese, because that is what it seems to be. Usually when they are portraying an asian guy being good at math, it is usually the chinese, because with a surge of chinese people into Canada, at least at my school, you'd see a lot of them taking math courses as opposed to arts courses. And of course, the stereotype only works on Chinese who was born and lived in China for quite awhile. Hong Kong does not count. That place has been westernized.
