Sure made us cynical about life, walking through that sleaze as kids all the time to get to Playland arcade, Nedicks or whatever. But I must say I miss the grimly, sleazily joyous atmosphere. It's missing from the city now. P.S.-Wanna buy an Omega watch for $5? Check it out, check it out...

Find out what New Yorkers think about unchecked development and the corporate homogenization that has altered and destroyed much of the uniqueness of the New York City landscape"
Great stuff,as a teen in the early 70s I went on a bus trip to a Mets game,my first trip ever to NY( I live in Pa.),and after the game they let us run around Times Square for a couple hours,I'll NEVER forget it,in fact I remember BLACULA was in a first run at the time, which I saw on the video, awesum dude!!!!
Absolutely Awesome. The "Make Them Die Slowly" marquee display nearly had me in tears. The Bruce Lee triple bill was the sh*t (remember this was before everybody had a VCR). It was sleazy, alright. But it was unique. You lose something, you gain something, you lose something. Long live the Grindhouse era.
Yeah, I want to get mugged, have to step into pee, or be asked by a 16-year old if I want to have a good time. Sorry, I don't. And if you were smarter about politics, maybe you wouldn't have to put up with the guys that you claim 'wrecked' Times Square, QwaiNine.
Anybody know anything about the footage of the woman with the fur coat at 5:30? looks familiar.. Is it from a movie?

The Anco was the worst 42nd street theater of them all. lol
Thumbs up if you agree. :)

Which was your fave grindhouse theater on 42nd street back in the day?
Mine was the Lyric because they played most of the blaxploitation flicks there. Second choice: the Selwyn.

THE DEUCE (42nd Street) was the best place to watch real grindhouse movies back in the day!
I hate that shit now. Fuckin' Disneyland.
