This version of Rocky Racoon makes me want to puke...no joke, I´ve seen this song performed by loads of people and this is by far the worst ever. I just don´t get it, being so famous, so talented, with so many resources at his reach, and Blunt comes out with this stuff...Makes no sense. Thumbs up for the video, at least is a lot more interesting than what James did with the tune.

don't know, video is greatly made but i don't really like the way he performs it. His voice is made for this song but something just doesn't fit, he tries to put too much emotion in his voice. Some emotion is no problem whatsoever but he kind of overdoes it...

I think this video was extremely creative, and it was fun to watch. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun making it too. I don't understand why everyone thinks this is a bad cover...of course it's nothing like The Beatles, but the way he sings it is really unique and....painful I guess? No offence guys, I own every beatles album and consider them to be the greatest band of all time and this isnt as good as the beatles obviously but Its quite listenable...I think those who say no-one should ever cover a beatles song need to pull their head in. Some of the covers are awesome, just listen to the entire I am Sam soundtrack if you need more proof

I agree with you that no one should say that the Beatles can't be covered. Also, look at the Across the Universe soundtrack, most of the songs on there are great covers, even some by artists who I can't otherwise stand, such as Joe Cocker.

I believe without the weight of expectation upon their shoulders such artists as coldplay, james blunt, U2 and the like could attain a similar height of success to the beatles. As it is they are not fully appreciated, which is an absolute traversty, just think next time you hear a new release the hard work time and effort that has gone in to every bit of it.

i think anybody could attain that type of success, but if they don't I believe it has absolutely nothing to do with "expectation upon their shoulders". The Beatles had the best songwriting duo that popular music has ever seen, never stopped changing and creating different styles from album to album, and much more impressive from song to song on those albums. don't expect bands like coldplay to have that type of success and longevity...success these days is fleeting

i think part of the problem is of the fact that in the 50's an 60's people really began to explore more with music meaning that nowadays there isnt really much left to explore in terms of good sounding original pop music, an probly no-one is gonna impress the way the beatles did again in that respect. That said i do think varying your musical style is an important skill to have in not losing die hard fans but also gaining new ones. e.g. if u know scoutin for girls, every song is identical etc...

True enough, the beatles were a landmark and the most significant one at that paving the way for all varieties of music to come and the standard and expectations of british music was highered as a result but in this modern day where we have so many great artists surrounding us, we take this for granted and do not pay homage to them.

James Blunt has a good singing voice but he could never write anything worthy of holding a candle to Rocky Raccoon.

Part of what makes this song great is the honky-tonk part and those wonderful fifths in the bass. They are completely missing from this version.

When you make a video centered around the worst cover I've heard since Limp Bizkit did "Behind Blue Eyes" it's very hard to make anything worthwhile out of it. It doesn't help that the video itself is not very good. You could have made something really incredible from the source material, but it just falls flat. You need to experiment with dynamic camera angles. Take the handicam off the damn tripod. To be honest, you're not very funny. I too couldn't sit through the whole thing.
