you have to see her live. I was able to see her in 2005 during a live show featuring the Supreme Raissa Morocco and the one and only Tarik Sultan...
Ariel is much better enjoyed in person as are Tarik Sultan and Morocco (also known as "aunty rocky") If you haven't seen them live...then you haven't lived.
She looks so joyful to be dancing! That's probably the most important thing, to look like you're actually having fun, not just going through the motions.
My only thing that I want to nitpick about is her left hand. It seems a lot busier than her right, and sometimes it's distracting. It's especially noticeable right at the beginning.
She had a basic foundation, but when she came to New York to study with Morocco and I, her technique was refinded and she got a really solid foundation in the authentic Egyptian style. However, credit has to be given for her own talent, because it is very unusual to assimilate what she was tought in only a year.
I remember Ariel talking about her classes shortly after she began studying dance here and also the first time I ever saw her perform a couple of years later at the Renaissance festival. It's been so fascinating to watch her grow as a dancer from that time to when I began taking classes from her later to now. It gives me hope for my own growth as a dancer and inspires me to keep learning as much as I can.
You are dancing great ARIEL! NICE!
