Very well done!!! You are very meticulous in your playing--you make every note count. I would like to ask you where you found the most accurate tab for this song? Keep up the great work! Thank you.
hey, can I ask a question, I'm learning this song atm, I'm 14 and I've only been playing a few years, so I've not got that much experience. How do you do that last note? I know it's a harmonic, but I've never done harmonics with my right hand before (apart from pitch harmonics of course). Please explain, thanks :)
@Sqroob Have a look at the Youtube video Harmonics II Part 5 for the technique. The video file is 2loHjXATECo. BTW I pluck the note with my thumb instead of my ring finger.
Since the first string is fretted on the first fret (F), the harmonic occurs an octave higher on the 13th fret.
@saffronboots thanks a lot, I'm beginning to get this song, although I tihnk it will take a lot of practise to get it as smooth as your doing here. :)
Love this song, I listened to about 6 others here you tube and you're the only one to nail it. You can't mess with a great song like this and everyone else want's to play it wrong. Nice Job.
Hey man in my opinion this is the best cover of the song on the internet- incredible job. I just played this in church as a prelude last Sunday... great song. Your cover of Angelina is insane as well. Seeing Tommy on July 21st soo pumped!!! :D
i was curios about this... whats the deal with the nylon strings ive never tried using them...they always broke on my guitar i dont think its set up for them.just wondering what the pros about them are
You won't have much success with nylon strings on a steel-string acoustic guitar because the instrument is braced for the higher string tension which the nylons can't deliver. i.e. It won't be very loud or have much bass.
The nylon tone is something that I've only recently begun appreciating. It can be much more expressive than steel IMHO.
Very nice job. I learned this tune by ear when I was 16 (I'm 43 now). I pretty much play it as you do, although your chord shape at 0:25 is something I missed and I'll definitely have to incorporate because it sounds correct. Best overall version on youtube IMHO....
You are correct. I have watched you play it over and over again. Its not as hard to learn as I thought it would be. Still piecing it together, but moving along thanks for the tip.
That was great. I am just starting to learn it now. I have some sheet music for but do not know how accurate it is so this video will help. I already know Midsummers Daydream, as soon as I can get camera am going to post it on You tube.
Thanks. I preferred a previous take except for the buggered harmonic at the end which I included at the start of this video. I edited out the part where I threw the guitar half way across the room...
Warren, please, please re-post drunken woodshedding. I have learned to play rik emmett's songs by watching you and would love to try to learn the drunken song. Even if only for a moment, I could download the url. I kind of have chosen you as my obi wan kanobe, if you will
Ha ha! Chris, the drunken woodshedding song is the Is-Ought Controversy which is posted on my channel. I don't know if I can recover the "practice" video you speak of...
Nice cover Warren, did you just learn this one, or did you pull it off the shelf and dust it off? I always love Rik's instrumentals on the Triumph albums. He is such a versatile player.
I recently started playing guitar again, after an 8 month hiatus, and this happened to be the first piece I played. I was working on it just before I stopped...
Really beautiful as always Warren. It's well worth the wait, but I wish you would post more often. Your music, tone and even the covers are just outstanding. Thanks!
A lot of things had happened over the past 16 months that took precedence over music, guitar, and YouTube. I'm slowly, but surely, getting back into the swing of things. Thanks for your patience.
very nice piece and well played!

Awesome job man. I attempted this song about a year ago, not really having any experience with fingerstyle. Pretty frustrating.

The runs at 0:52 and 1:09 were gleaned fro the RE video of him playing it. They are different than the tab I suspect you have.
