And is it even legal to skateboard on the shoulders of an interstate highway? Its hysterical if i see one walking his board whenever a road comes in on the highway
By law no one is allowed to skateboard on any roads anywhere in the US. The law is that no vehicle with freewheeling hubs (no brakes) and with wheels smaller than 16 inches in diameter is allowed on the roads. That's what I was told when I started in Florida (I went to the local police station to ask). But they said that so long as I wasn't causing danger to myself or other traffic, I'd be fine. The interstate highways in Texas were fine, but not in Arizona or California - I got kicked off.
Did ya ever get told "you can't skate here" lol we have parts of town where i live where if a cop sees you they make you get off your board and walk it.......
Nah, not too much of that. Most officers were impressed by what I was doing. The only time was in Arizona on the I-10 freeway...but I can understand their concern on that one...too bad it was the only option for me.
It was fun some of the time. About 20% fun and 80% hard work. The satisfaction came from setting a goal and sticking to it...the trip was not sponsored, apart from some items of gear. No set checkpoints either. Just whereever the road was smooth enough!
I prefer foot-braking with the standard stance (not mongo), but I've always naturally pushed mongo when pushing off. I did switch pushing legs though; about 15 pushes each leg.
Excellent video, Rob. It's very well produced considering you have no dedicated computer and limited time for editing, and only a digital camera for capturing the video!
you just happen to be a mongo pusher jesus....

Longest downhill coast was 75km in the Gobi Desert in China. Bliss.
