The two most misleading things about this video are

1. The man is throwing himself forward, forget resisting he is literally throwing his momentum forward the grimacing and landing hard to add dramatic effect

2. Those throws would take years to learn and master to the point where one could apply them on a large attacker in a real life scenario

there are no self defense secrets,you want to engage an attacker you must train

The move is valid and the timing correct and flawless. Admittedly the guy is adding to demonstrate but the method is fine. If anything the woman could strike the groin with knife hand as well on the first technique.

There are secrets and training alone will not reveal them,

Knowledge is improved by study over long periods of time in many countries...

Throws are quick. in my club a 5 year old that threw his resisting preschool teacher over his shoulder, after 6 months judo.

If you are small untrained woman your best tactic of self preservation is to remain alert and not put yourself in dangerous positions not have this misconception about your ability to break an opponents base and render an attacker defenseless

Your assailant may not be as cooperative as the chap who's being thrown about in this video, and if he's armed, have fun. One person's going to end up in the hospital or morgue, and it's likely not going to be him.

Of course he is a willing uke in this demonstration, but she is not demonstrating fighting tactics like you see in UFC. I'm a seven year jujutsuka and I know first hand that all her techniques will work in the real world, with training, if the opponant is not expecting them and is more serious about causing harm than about their own safety.

yeah, judo descended from jujitsu. it uses the same throws as jujitsu, so these can also be found in judo waza. however jujitsu also teaches techniques of striking, blocking and evading, which (most) judoka don't use at all. jujitsu also places more emphasis on actual self defense than on competing.

The things in gracie jiu-jitsu aren't fake. They work given the situation. And if...if (just in case) your one of those people who safe GJJ is judo...then I have to beg to argue that Judo is pretty much jujutsu (japanese), Kano just wanted to have a safer way to spar and compete. And I'm also heairng that Kano (the founder of judo), took aspects from other jujutsu schools and combined the safer techniques that can be donw in sparring and competeing into one...which became known as judo.
