Only problem is, some people can only afford the 8GB model, which doesn't even have the camera built into it anyway, so it's exactly the same as the old one regardless of generation. :) I've only got the 2nd gen model, but the iOS in it is 4.0. While I have that, there's no point in me buying exactly the same thing for more money. :)
