I'm looking for a jazz piece to play on the piano for this upcoming annual competition thing, but I haven't been able to find one, do you have any suggestions? And knowledge as to how I can get the music? Preferably around grade 8 - diploma level music (just to keep my teacher happy) Many thanks in advance :D
@LileViLcHiCkEn Hi, there are many great books for this purpose. The ones that I like most are written by Carsten Gerlitz, Michael Gundlach and Gabriel Bock.
I love this arrangment and your playing are both fantastic! I will use your video as a background to a saxophone improv I feel inspired to do because of you! Thank you an many blessings.
I cannot find the book you are mentioning. Not even Amazon has it. The versions of A foggy day that are out there for electronic download purchases are not the same arrangement and I would LOVE to learn your arrangent. Could you please either redirect me to where I can buy the book or provide us with the sheet music for this particular arrangement. Thanks a lot
thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us who are striving to play piano to a basic standard. I love the fact that we can see clearly which keys you are playing and so we can copy exactly the arrangement ( after many hours of practice ) I might add.
You play beautifully. I stumbled on this and your 'Somewhere over the rainbow' videos while trying to come up with some new songs to learn. Because of you, I'm now in search of the Bar Piano Classics book. I can't wait to dive into some of these songs :) Thanks for sharing your talent!
@idaveit Does the book have this arrangement notated out or are you improvising it? I can play classical piano when I need to but I've always wanted to play some jazz, despite my lousy improvisation skills. Therefore I'm in search of a book with good jazz arrangements like this one fully notated out. Could you recommend any others also?
Thank you for the wonderful music! You learnt how to play the piano at 37. You are obviously very talented! I am 50 and would like to learn the piano too. I just wonder which method you used. I can only read the sol key (I play the flute)
My idea was learning to read piano scores, so that I have access to all the beautiful compositions. I do it very systematic in the order of the keys. 1#, 1b, 2#, 2b etc...
The most important thing is to find tunes that you like and which have the appropriate level, so that you are demandet but have a good chance to succeed. If I would take to heavy staff, I would loose motivation very soon. Be patient and enjoy even small success.
beautifully played, its been a while since ive had a look around youtube, but glad picked you up again, your music and the way you play is very soothing and relaxing!!
good for anyone stressed out a bit!!! have you made a c.d. at all?
Awfully nice! And quite interesting: listening to slightly different interpretations of one and the same song. I'm playing the Gundlach version as well and it sounds a bit different, even though we are playing (almost) the same notes! I'm nearly about to make a video of mine... Grüße aus D!
