When watching the Andy Griffith show, it looks like the cars they used were more of a flat black with the white. Is that due to the dusty set, the film they used, or were they more of a non-gloss color?
There were a few cars in the shot that were not really the right years for this movie. I think this incident happened in 1968 or 69 so the '71 cars weren't even thought of yet, but most people wouldn't know that...
Yes, and then it rained in the afternoon. The production staff told everyone to pile into the cars and by then they were about 130 degrees inside! I had two of my own classic cars there for the background shots, a 1960 Pontiac Catalina and a 1963 Bonneville Convertible. The people who piled into my cars totally trashed them with mud. The humidity made it smell like wet dogs had been in my cars... Jeesh! Otherwise a pretty cool experience, though. When's it coming out?
That's funny. It's more like 250 feet. I guess I didn't mention it was 97 degrees that day and that I had walked UP the hill first before walking down it to do the filming. Oh yes, and talking, walking and filming is different, a bit more taxing than just standing in front of a camera.
I wish they had been able to film this video here in Oxford, but things got crazy enough when the book was released. We thought the town might burn again. :( Feel free to ask me anything about the book and what happened. Mr. Teel still wanders around this town today. It's disgusting. I saw him a few weeks ago, and after reading the book... It was like looking at the Devil.
I don't recognize the area. Looks like a cemetery though.... Cool police cars. I saw them filming out at Rock Rest and at the courthouse. Big stuff for Monroe!

This movie is now in theaters. One of these car is flipped over in one scene and the crowd gets up and stomps all over it.

I think I saw Otis passed out drunk in the back seat of one of the cruisers.
