When they are fighting they are so intensely concentrating on each other you CAN walk right up on them. What a great dear the guy drilled. He had probably been kicking the other buck's ass and the buck knew he was out of it and came in to count coup.

We have two weekends for shotgun, much longer for bows, also black powder, etc. all in fall/winter/rut. We have an agressive strain of deer. Southern Illinois university is around a refuge and students walking through certain areas on sidewalks are attacked by deer several times a year. Even does get in on the act. I believe most about deer in full rut
