  • not worth the price

  • That's so Geekotronik....

Where did you get it? :)

  • Looks quite steampunk-ish. Like it :-)

  • ive been looking to buy one ofthese for months! ive only found a handful of custom stores that make them custom, all out of stack and all over 300$ it would be a dream to have one... lets hope santa actually shows up this year

  • steve wozniak wears one

  • Don't nixies require a 175 VDC power supply? I'd get awful nervous about having that on my arm.

  • Yes, but it's less voltage than is used in the electronic flash on cameras. Are you also afraid of cameras?

  • - @ jforb427 -

Have you ever accidentally discharged a flash unit's capacitor across your fingers?

It's really, really painful and I don't recommend it.

I've had it happen a three times. Once 22 years ago, then twice in one evening a month ago.

  • You'd have to open up the camera to do that, wouldn't you? That's quite a different situation than just using the camera...or wearing a watch...

I'm really careful when working around high voltage, it's been a few decades since I've been bit.

  • if the capacitor was discharging every second (or wtv time update like in this case), yes i would.

  • not the voltage I'm afraid of, what kind of amperage does that thing run on? the volts make it hurt, the amps make it kill... well, the amps can hurt too, I guess, lol.

  • @Exarian Oh, a couple milliamps...and it's all encased in metal, so you can't get zapped unless you poke something way inside it somehow to connect to the high voltage. But since most folks don't understand much about electricity, I guess it could be pretty scary.

  • oh, okay, I guess that isn't that scary then, lol, I forget the glow is gas based not incandescent based.

  • jebus! That sure is neat.

  • no way!!!

    f'kin amazing!

is it switched on permanently or do the tubes dimm out after a while?

how long does the battey last?

  • I have one of the prototypes, without seconds, and I just had to change the battery again. The old one was installed last July, so that's 8 or 9 months, which seems to be typical.

  • sweet!
