Americans are too stiff, this is not dancing. Its 80% showmaship and posing and running across the stage. I see a lot of shaking of the hair and a lot of finger pointing in the air like a poster, thats not dancing. In the 20% dancing part she is too stiff.

I agree with cranscape. The judges have made off-base remarks, lecturing her on "working harder". They are going to tell an Olympic athlete that she needs to work harder? That is what she has done all her life and obviously is doing now. The remarks have seemed unfair and personal. I've been very disappointed, and I don't think that I will watch any more episodes given the unfairness. Hope and Maks have been outstanding!

@beradification But, I didn't like Season 10's Nicole & Derek's Tango. Nicole was Fantastic!! But the dance was too violent for my taste. Nicole may had planned it that way, but it's obvious she didn't expect it to be POW on her buttocks!! And, he sure didn't expect Nicole to slap him back like POW!!! There was arguing, It became a Boxing Match, I was afraid Nicole was going to get hurt or that she was hurt. IMHO, Derek had snapped...He was really spooky!!
No offense, but this is not TANGO. I did not see any romance between them so this is not TANGO, they should learn more about the original themes of the real tango music.
OK Hope is not the best dancer but it is so freaking ludicrous for anyone to believe this show is about choosing the best dancer. It is not! If it was then the judges would have the final say not the public. Also, if Hope is so bad then why is Chaz Bono still on the show, Hope is 1000X better than her. Since it's all about popularity and not dancing, I love Hope, so I gave her all seven of my votes.

Why don't Maks just show videos of Lalia & him dancing? Lalia, never had any experiences in dancing...But had fluidity, smoothness, very good techniques, she was always gracious and just let Hope see how sexy looks when dancing & walking.
MAKS is a great teacher and sexy as all get out (my opinion) ... Hope is trying hard, but she and MAKS just do NOT have any chemistry together. It's more like they're fighting each other during the dances. Hope is aggressive when she should be "feminine" and willowy when she should be more aggressive. There's just no PASSION betweeen them. Now when Maks danced with Kirstie Alley --- POW!! Watch their tango on YouTube -- snizzling.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to watch Hope knowing how bad an attitude she has. Everyone knows by now that having Maksim as a teacher & partner is not always a picnic, but he has forged strong relationships with several of his past partners (Laila, Erin, Mel B., Brandy, & Kristi) & has gotten them to the finals. I think Hope needs an attitude adjustment and a lock on her lips. Telling everyone on national TV that basically she can't stand her partner is very uncool & bratty.
The clash of personalities hurt Maks' and Hope's chances as a team. They're both stubborn and unwilling to bend for the other. How can they win if they're so divided? That being said, I also see Len's and CarrieAnn's points ... for example, when Maks has Hope hook her leg onto his, her head flops around, without control, making the move look awkward. There must be a way to satisfy the requirements of each dance and let Hope be her "sporty" self. If they find that happy medium, they'll do better.
I couldn't wait for them to do the tango, but I'm disappointed by the choreography and the song choice. I wanted to see a stronger performance set to traditional music. Maybe they should have waited on the tango. I know it was 80s week but there were much better song choices for the tango (i.e. David's dance with Karina). I would love to see them win but I'm still not really satisfied with the dancing. I think they do well, but they could be so much better.

Hope has great potential to be a really good dancer. Her foxtrot last week is her best dance so far in the competition..she seemed more comfortable with it and more at ease. I do agree that she comes off as arrogant but I feel that this is due to her drive and internal motivation. As she's said, she hopes to do her best in everything she undertakes. And I think this comes from her having overcome several obstacles (most notably the 2004 Olympics, and having to prove herself and win the respect of her teammates again) in the past due to pure hard work and determination.
But yes, her self-confidence occasionally crosses the line to the 'pride' side.
I liked the dance but can't stand the arrogant attitude she gives off. This isn't the soccer field. This is a dance floor and she needs to learn her place. To do that she needs to listen. The judges are afraid to give it to her straight because her fans are so loyal. She has the potential, the ability but it's her attitude preventing her from getting the 10's. If anyone should go home it's her because she doesn't seem like she wants to be there.

I absolutely loved the opening intro of Maks onstage and holding the mike (I thought he was doing Billy Idol. He could be a rock star if he wanted to, but he's a dancer first). Just loved this performance of Maks & Hope doing the Tango and I absolutely love, love, love "Living On A Prayer" (great 80s classic). Tonight they should of had 9s and a "10" from Bruno.

I can understand her arrogance... she has more talent at her profession than all 3 of the judges have added together, at their respective professions.

odd! those judge dinks say one week BE AGRESSIVE...then ur agressive and they say to be PASSIVE the next week. they must love the sound of their own voices. its worse than american idol.

That was not a good dance and Maks do not seem very happy with Hope like with Laila and Mel B. when they were dancing!!!!

i think hope is frustrated, she has been doing everything the best that she can do. The thing is she focused on the wrong thing. it's not the technique that she is lacking, she can do all those complicated things is just she needs to relax a bit to get the flow, fluidity and feminity. from the video when she walked back to the stairs, that is a feminine walk. i really really hope, she and maks could get this right. I want her to get 10s one day..

lol @ judges are giving thumbs up to other dancers little improvement but always feel the need to critisize Hope. WTF are they thinking? And Rob's dancing got higher score than Hope's? lol are you serious? I don't think Hope or any of her fans need to "respect" them by any means. They's just a bunch of biased "dubious referee".

i don't think she has an arrogant attitude on the dance floor but she does tend to roll her eyes when the judges are speaking. She has so much potential but it's not quite there yet.....there's something missing like some fluidity of her motions or something.....i'm always wincing when i watch her. When I stop doing that is probably when she will be GREAT!

Love Maks and Hope and love this dance. Not loving the storyline the show has given Hope though. I think they went off the rails when they decided to attack her work ethic out of the blue. An Olympic athlete's work ethic? Really? Now they are telling her she is too forceful AND willowy at the same time and start it off by preaching about "femininity"...on the night she's doing the tango? Huh? Oh well. Still loving the hard dances they pull off each week. Bleeding after a tango? Only Hope. LOL.

@cranscape First of all, he said polish not work hard. You can work hard on something and it looks good but polishing makes it shine. Second, working hard in one part of life does not guarantee that in other parts...there are variables like level of interest and motivation to consider. Second, the truth be told, most female soccer players are not the most feminine and graceful ladies around due to how much they have to develop their muscles etc. She did a good job, but not a great one

I do agree that she comes off as arrogant but I feel that this is due to her drive and internal motivation. As she's said, she hopes to do her best in everything she undertakes. And I think this comes from her having overcome several obstacles (most notably the 2004 Olympics, and having to prove herself and win the respect of her teammates again) in the past due to pure hard work and determination.
But yes, her self-confidence occasionally crosses the line to the 'pride' side.

I liked the dance but can't stand the arrogant attitude she gives off. This isn't the soccer field. This is a dance floor and she needs to learn her place. To do that she needs to listen. The judges are afraid to give it to her straight because her fans are so loyal. She has the potential, the ability but it's her attitude preventing her from getting the 10's. If anyone should go home it's her because she doesn't seem like she wants to be there.

@elphsnt Yeah I don't like her personality too. She does seem really arrogant, I guess Maks was a good partner for her because he is the same way a lot. Plus I think Hope is to manly and she just doesn't move her body right.

I absolutely loved the opening intro of Maks onstage and holding the mike (I thought he was doing Billy Idol. He could be a rock star if he wanted to, but he's a dancer first). Just loved this performance of Maks & Hope doing the Tango and I absolutely love, love, love "Living On A Prayer" (great 80s classic). Tonight they should of had 9s and a "10" from Bruno.
