they actually make a style called Treksport that are actually better suited for trail running. But honestly, i dont think minimalist shoes are a good call for trail running anyway, you need to prioritize the protection of your feet. The Bikilas are for like, running on a track or through a neighborhood... basically anything with a street or sidewalk or generally flat surface. They're great products if used for their intended purpose!
I raced last year in a pair of Vibrams and found the same thing: have to run very slow on the downhill. As a larger runner (220 lbs) I passed lots of folks on downhill trail races, but in VFF I couldn't over-stride or heel strike and so had to tiptoe down trails. I love the whole minimalist running thing, do it every day, but don't try to race the trails in them, they'll slow you down...not to mention a nasty high ankle sprain I got from a vicoous toe stubbing, ouch! no protection!
I like to feel everything so these shoes are awesome! I just got mine today and I threw away my crocs lmao! Feel wayyyyy more comfy than my crocs! I didn't throw my crocs away because they are expensive too but they will probably get cobwebs lmao!
I have the same exact ones! :D

I'm sorry but who the hell would go trail running with these? There's blood on your sole.

Dude the shoes you have on are not ment for trail running. They are for straight hardball running.

I think the female version have a little shorter toes, but yes there probably will be a little space. You can try to wear some injinji toed socks.

some people would say yes, and I would say after a lot of training and practice, yes. but for me, i would much rather wear a pair of flats

I would recommend the KSO Trek if you plan on rough terrain. Good luck.
