the trailer isn't misleading, the movie does have the light hearted feeling. the sun's always bright, the boy's so spoiled and funny, but of course, theres always those moments that want to make you cry regardless T___T
I cried most of the time when I first watch it on tv, and I was watching it with my grandma back then....now she had passed away and I cried harder when I watch it now... :(
great great movie....if the movie "For one more day" reminds you of your mum's LOVE, this movie reminded me of my grandma's, i love you "niang"...though she does not recognise us anymore because of her condition, i know and will always remember the words she speaks whenever i depart for work, she always say, "be carefull and may God will always be with you"...
My grandmother has dead for 49 days. And, when I watch this movie, I miss she so much. This grandmother in this movie ... look like my grandmother and the way grandmother care grandson so..... Grandmother's eyes, grandmother's wizen face, grandmother's wizen hand, the grandmother's love... Everything make me cry and I miss the last grandmother's smile. Grandmother, I'm sorry for everything and I want to say thing I didn't say that: I Love You. *sr for my bad English*

Why I see, cry. It make me remind to grandmother. Yes, she die 5 year ago. Looklike when I am young, so headstrong. After that I know again, love her so much.
I never cried at my grandmothers funeral but when I saw the ending of the film all my memories of my grandmother came flooding back and I cried for he first time in a long time
just finished theis movie...made me cry wicked!!! Makes me realize how speaial my babci is to me. it was...just...such a sad movie, but with an amazing and powful message.
i don't understand one thing of this movie , maybe is off topic from the synopsis but if this movie is in the modern korea why they show rural korea very poor , if south korea is a developed country why in the movie many parts were like some place of thailand or philippines , i cant believe in korea are places like these , south korea is with japan and singapore one of the most developed countries of asia
is there a rural area that has modern technologies or something? that's why it is called a rural area.. because of lack in modern facilities.. plus, this movie was release in 2002.. where now in 2010..
um every country has their rural parts b/c that's where agriculture exists.. you should go to the US and go to the outskirts of Arizona or Oklahoma per say..also there are even rural places in japan. if you think that korea is covered with cities from head to toe then I think you don't really know what the term "developed country means."
This is one of my favorite movies! To see how the young boy gradually learns to appreciate his Grandma and everything she does for him. Such a wonderful movie. Kentucky Chicken, Kentucky Chicken...lololol (if you've seen the movie you'll get that last statement) lol
Grandma was too sad, I cried watching this film, but ultimately the boy who became a good bad, good acting is really the grandmother she has not stooped really you?
ya this was a very good movie, I bought it on ebay and got the wrong movie sent to me:( Some Old movie called The LONG Way Home I think starring Jack Lemmon. The idiots never gave me a refund either:(
im kind of surprised the trailer is so goofy, cuz really it was soo touching and deep. like a lot of ppl who've already commented.. i cried like a baby!! this is definitely a movie worth one's time.
it depends on where you are. you can go to a korean dvd rental place if you know any place that has a lot of korean grocery stores and markets and stuff like that (i know canada has a few of those)... other than that it's kind of hard to find unless there are places where they have asian movies
to N: This is the movie I like to recommand you to watch. If the subtitle is available, you will see Korean movie has deep emotion they care. Violent movies are not the way to peek other country's cultures.
I loved the grandmother, especially when you read this about her: "The 78-year-old villager and non-actress 'Eul-boon Kim' had not only never performed in a movie before 'Jibeuro', but she had never before *seen* a film. She was found during an extensive talent search among real rural village people by director Lee Jeong-hyang to play the lead role of the stoic, heroic mute grandmother."
Ive only seen part of this movie because Our Substitue Teacher Showed it During Class and i love this movie so much at times i really wanted to hit that kid >>
i watched this movie in class too. heh. we had this subject called media appreciation and we watched all sorts of really great movies we never thought we would watch on our own..
this movie is great! and like most of us here i almost cried at the end of the movie
i've seen this movie twice & twice i cried! very moving esp the love between a grandma to his grandson which is unconditional! it's one of Korea's 2002 hit movies as i've read & you won't be surprised as it's a great movie. i love that child actor & grandma was good consideraing she's not a pro actress.

Film4 are weird. They show violent/sexual content/strong language films earlier (before midnight) and other films much later (after midnight). I saw a really powerful short film on violence and youths in London on channel 4 - again about 2am. I don't know if it was a repeat, but it really opened my eyes and I just thought the key audience missed out due to the ridiculus time it was on.

OH MY GOSH! THIS MOVIE MADE ME CRY SOOO MUCH! She reminds me of my grandma, always working hard!
It hurts to even imagine that there are some kids(and adults) out there in the world that actually DO treat their elders with the same disrespect as this kid did in the begining of the movie!
i cried when i watched the last few part of the movie..this is a very good movie and i really respect the person who act as the grandmother..hope she's in good health now..
this was no doubt a great movie. it was very touching, and to me two of the sadest parts were when the grandma bought the boy those noodles using most of the money she got from selling fruits and also when the grandma gave him money for his gameboy.
I thought the kid was very disrespectful and to me he was the retard. made me want to somehow come in the film and kik his ***
However, he notices in the end how families are important, and he starts to love his grandmother after seeing how hard she is trying to communicate at the market when she buys vegetables or sells melons.
this is such a great movie. every scene, with the simplicity of it, was sheer poetry.
the scenes that were touching were when the boy made postcards, put thread in the pins so gramma doesn't have to do it, found money in his gameboy for batteries, and the list goes on & on. just incredible.
I miss my two grandmas Im grateful that I had good time with her,and learn a lot from both..I wish I have them now
