  • IDK about you, but if I could play this song, I'd feel like the biggest boss ever. I still can't figure out the chords though.

  • Brilliant.

  • This guy is great - he really gets all the nuances. Thanks much.

  • great playing sounds awesome! been workin on this one for awhile but by watching you i have a long way to go

  • watson162: I believe I have Gretsch round wound 10-46's on there at the time of the video. I've tried every brand from Pyramid, Thomastik, etc. In the finished recording process they all sound the same, given that they're the same gauge and material. New strings usually sound a bit brighter and fool most folks into thinking that the brand is better. The Beatles used whatever strings were available.

  • @mlswartz Sorry for the late reply, but many thanks for the explanation. I've learnt so much from your videos. I heard the same thing about The Beatles - in fact I'm sure it was noted somewhere than John's 325 has been pictured with a combination of flats and rounds, as you say - whatever was available! Thanks again.

  • Sorry if you've answered this one before, but what strings are you using on your Gretsch? Thanks in advance.

  • D1NonlyKoko: Thank you for your comment. I use a Vox AD15VT set on AC30TB with full treble and min bass and mid.

  • wow! you play guitar very well! May I know what amplifier you're using?

  • Not sure what your source is, but according to Mark Lewisohn's book The Beatles Recording Sessions, Do You Want to Know a Secret was recorded on Monday February 11, 1963 in a session between 2:30 and 6:00 pm. Chains was recorded the same day in a session between 7:30 and 10:45 pm.

  • @mlswartz Sorry, for late reply (you didn't type my name with a @ ) I read it from a booklet inside the CD cover of Please Please Me.

  • @mIswartz No, really this is George's second vocal performance, Chains was Harrison's first lead vocal ever recorded.
