Brittnie & Alayna, this is from before Micheal Jackson, was WHITE!!! Just ask Uncle BUSTER!!! He might remember. Forget it, just ask Roy. He'll know!!
As you can see mj still holding on to his cuteness-even though it was "1972" because it was July, 1972 when mj was still 13, mj start changing at age 14 which mj indicated in his moonwalk 1998 book. MJ still has that round cute facial structure, smooth skin, etc. he was strired up here, lol. And that's so cute how mj walked near his little brother randy, so cute.
I can't believe I was on bart and a guy from this organization from los angeles called "save the children" was handing out fliers, and asking for donations-this is the same organizations j5, etc. was supporting, wow.
They gave a full concert even though only a few songs were used in this movie titled "Save the Children". This was at Black Expo in Chicago. The concert had to be stopped several times because the crowd kept coming to the stage.

If this was in Chicago at the Black Expo at the Chicago, Amphitheatre I vividly remember this! I was only 4 but I wanted to see Michael Jackson!!! Man my older sister went to this concert and I wanted to go too!!!
The Jackson Five are the best group ever.Jermaine is a much underated singer. One of my favourite albums by the brothers is the Christmas Album. Also, if you can, listen to La La Means I Love You on the ABC album and I Am Love on The Dancing Machine album, which is my all time favourite song by the group.
Personally, I think it's so hilarious whenever I hear some of this generations' greatest talents talk about performing "live". Man, they don't have a clue. The J5 did brought it every night with electricity style, soul & power. They were truly a force to be reckoned with. MJJ, R.I.P.
Thanks so much for posting. This version, especially of I wanna be where you are reminds me of only a happy and joyful J5 and Mike who is and will forever be sorely missed. Thanks
I am so grateful that I wa there then,. I saw the J5 perform 4 times before they became The Jacksons. This is my musical foundation. He has always been great. Many years brefore Thriller He Was Great !! and The hatred and Evil in this world Killed Him.
@811ceceq No one still or ever will touch these boys, ever! These boys were more in step than a lot of older groups could ever be. I always love how much would step forward to his spins and routines and flow back in unison with Jackie and Marlon so flawlessy. Talent like these boys will never be met again in this world or a genuine.
Unbelievable! This performance is great. But I'm not surprised, acts from this era could carry a concert with just music and dance. Today, they needs lights, fireworks, and moving stage parts to put on a concert. BTW, he is dancing AND singing and his voice is consistent and smooth at all times. WOW!
@jytype616 Yeah it is sad even when a rapper gets on stage and they don't even sound anything like their studio versions. They bounce around the stage and are winded. LOL! This is a true and magical performance here
All of these boy bands of today don't understand that they learned how to do it from the J5!!! I'm so happy for these clips. They show people WHY Michael was the man from a very young age. Michael is like a member of my family. We grew up together. I'm a singer and my first serious attempts at singing were singing J5 songs.
i hate my classmates, laughing at me while listening to the songs of old times,id rather have a great taste in music than grow up with lady gaga or justin bieber and the shitty music of today.
I'm always so impressed by what a strong and powerful voice, and stage presence, he had as such a small boy! Michael could outsing even adults in those days easily. He really used all his energy on performing. That's how you become a Legend!
I grew up with the Jackson 5, seeing them on television and going to their concerts. Watching this video I laughed and cried at the same time. It remided me how proud they made me. When they took the stage, they were me and every other kid. They made us believe we could fly. All I can say to J5 is "thank you. You have no idea how much you meant to us." And to Michael, we love you always. Your star is always the brightest one in the sky.
Young, Black and God Gifted young men - YOU CAN'T BUY IT !!!!! # 1, thank you all for sharing your gifts with the world, we were and are truly blessed !!!!
It really sucks to be young. I'm 19 and I can't say that I am proud of all the music my generation has today. Talentless, souless, no message, no feel good. Thats why I've been stuck in ALL these oldies! Classics for life.
@OfficialENXO Don't be so hard on yourself. At least you have great tastes in music. Many young people your age laugh at the old music. I too, grew up during the J5 era. Unfortunately, I never saw them live, but I saw them on TV whenever they were on, cut their records off cereal boxes, and heard them on the radio! The seventies was a great time to have lived.
To all you people out there born after 1980 the JACKON 5 was "it"they were way popular the Michael Jackson now Mike is badddd boy but them Jackson's was it in the Black Community just look at the people getting off in the crowd on this clip.
So why then did America ridicule and drop him and made up these enormous lies, believed in all the shit that was written about him and ultimately killed him, here is this boy, giving people tremendous joy by performing his guts out and did so all his live to please, stayed humble all his life and you dropped him like a piece of dirt!!! Man that is and will always be hard to swallow!! Shame on you!!!
@MrMjhealtheworld I know, it's so heartbreaking. All he ever wanted to do was help people as well, and his pure innocents got him into a lot of trouble because of the faults of others. SO many people don't understand him and don't want to try either. I just hope he's in a good place now, and hopefully one day my dream will come true of meeting him :)
i loved when his voice changed..he;s singing with power and grit...and thats what i want to hear..you can tell he's having a goodtime with the new-found dirt in his voice..he sounds fu%#ing incredible..J54ever..man...
jermaine's bass line is amazing! and he sang and danced at the same time. that is TRUE talent. all of them are talent, but Jermaine's multitasking is just flawless
@iamtripscore - Indeed, that's insightful of you. I was fortunate enough to have seen the Jackson 5 in their heyday. Jermaine was like a wonder of the world. While the girls were screaming and losing their minds over his teen idol status, my buddies and I, who were musicians, would leave the concert talking about the otherworldly musical talent of Jermaine. Just imagine they entrusted the professional bass playing duties, for a worldwide tour, to a teenager! Unreal.
Jermaine is lighting that bass up!!! Omgosh I love listening/ watching mike perform, but Jermaine shined bright just as much on this performance. Take a closer listen to his variations on those bass lines.
@DMob888333 Yeah I notice Jermaine firing that bass up this performance. Suprised the strings held on till the end, also it has a bit of funk favor to his bass rythmn....Just love it. This version of I wanna be where you are is outta this world.
Thank you for this rare concert footage of the J5. I wish Micheal would not have distant himself from us. He had a warm milk chocolate complexion. If he would of heard that from day one he would not have bleached his skin. I will never undermine Joe's influence on raising them boys. With 1/3 of black men in jail and 1/3 unemployed and visionless, I think he did a great job of raising his sons. Hell back then we all got whoppings from poppa if you was fortunate enough to have one.
Mike did not bleach his skin. His autopsy has proven he had vitiligo and lupus. Please look it up.
For goodness sake, I dont think people realize how hard it is to dance and sing with lupus.
Also, Joe was a good manager but as a father...that can be argued. I agree he did a great job in disciplining his children but it would have done his children some good if he showed them love as a Father rather than as a business venture.
@TheEzekiel300 i know its very wrong...but think kids nowadays are so out of line! i get where ur coming from and i agree with u but like i said it did get them to where they are now... poor michael but it just goes to show how hard his father was on him...
@sharpi22 I will be 1st tell this! But the 60's generations did not raise their kids right! I am tired of my fellow black people talking about back then! Yea! black people whooped their kids only when you got on their nerves! They did not whoop you when you do something really wrong like join a gang or sell drugs! Bloods and the krpts started in the 60! Kids talk back because their parents never really took care of them that is why we are messed up today!
@sharpi22 the black parents were out of line in the 60's because they did not whoop their kids for the right reasons! the 60's generation did not take care of their kids!
@TheEzekiel300 Who told you that bullshit!! That the 60's generation didn't take care of their kids because they whooped their behinds when they got out of line??? You musttt be European/White!lmaooo!!Its called discipline something we don't have now!! And you see how our communities are today. Now compare the 60's kids to todays kids .Totally different!! talk about what u know.
@RealismOfLife I am black american! That is not bullshit it is absolute fact! The worst gangs came from that period The bloods, krpts, black mafia! The older black people complain about this generation and brag about how things were when they were kids! 60's Black men started staying away from their famlies! Yes! black people whooped their kids, but mostly for personal reasons! They did not whoop them when they did serious things crimes! The pimp movies came out in those times and everything!
@TheEzekiel300 Well most gang members back then came from fatherless homes to be honest. But the gangs wasn't all about violence when it first started, it was more of a tribal thing , brothers coming together. Wisdom , Knowledge,Love, Understanding, etc about the people at least in Chicago. Then drugs and money played its part that's when it became violent. Now your parent might've whipped you out of anger. But mines whipped my ass for a reason and im glad they did.
@TheEzekiel300@TheEzekiel300 Mines didn't whoop me for personal reasons ,most black parents and neighbors i knew back then "they even whooped my behind as well" disciplined their kids for a reason. Not to say that they all did because i knew some that were abusive for no reason at all "drunks" but overall had a reason to.That's what went on in my community, kids was out trying to do something destructive we got check rather it was by the neighbor , older peeps, even pimps. makin us go to skool
This so bitter-sweet to me. I'm so, so thankful for the memories that Michael and his brothers gave us, but I'm also so very sad that Michael is no longer with us. RIP my dear Michael. We will love you forever!!!
I chuckle when i hear people talk about Thriller as the time when they began to worship at the alter of MJ. Any Black American 43 and older knows the Jackson 5 and knows the Phenomenon
started with them. They were ours and we were theirs. I have seen the J5 live 4 ti9mes from 1970-1977. i won every album they ever made. Today I am 46 and proud that this was the music and energy that shaped my childhood. I have been with Mike since the beginning.
u got a point there, but im 18 and i think i love the jackson 5 music more than michael solo because that's where he came from if it wasnt for j5 then there wouldn't have been a thriller, but i wasnt around during the phenoma of the j5 era but i honestly understand it and apreciate their music as well as michael;s solo music and the other brothers as well
@811ceceq I'm 43 and I agree wholeheartedly. When he passed, it affected me deeply and I couldn't figure out why it affected me so much. Then, about 3 days later I figured it out. It was becuase it felt like I had lost a member of my family. That's how much a part of our fabric The J5 and The Jacksons were. They were ours and we were theirs. Before Thriller.
@811ceceq I hear you loud and clear I am 37 and at fourteen i used to sit and listen to the got to be there album which i believe came out the year i was born' 72...i used to sit and wish i could have been around to really experience his music from j5 but i did the best i could to make up for it, at 14 i started really getting into J5 ofcourse prior to that I was so in love with him, especially with thriller but my earliest and vague memory of their music is show you the way to go,love it
@811ceceq YOU ARE SOOOOOO RIGHT. We knew all along. WAAAAAYYYY before Thriller. And being from Northwest Indiana we knew when they made their regional hit "Big Boy". The J5 and Mike were the best from the very start. It just took America a while to notice it.
@811ceceq eventhough mike was exciting as a solo artist, it was not like when he would perform with his brothers... Marlon and jackie and mike doing the dance steps in unison with such accuracy and precision was incredible... Personally i like mike the best when he was a little boy...There hasn't been a kid that could touch him yet or a boy group that could touch the jackson 5.. There were 2 people that i would emulate as a child growing up : The first was James Brown then Mj.
@811ceceq yeah... Michael was already soo great at such a young age... he was the one that shaped the jackson 5, without him, jackson 5 would never have rose to fame at all! People should learn to appreciate his music since he was 5 and not since 23!

They could actually play live! Besides Alicia Keys, how many of today's R&B artists can play an instrument?
HeruOfKemet 1 year ago
Personally, I think it's so hilarious whenever I hear some of this generations' greatest talents talk about performing "live". Man, they don't have a clue. The J5 did brought it every night with electricity style, soul & power. They were truly a force to be reckoned with. MJJ, R.I.P.

WOW!
jytype616 1 year ago
@jytype616 Yeah it is sad even when a rapper gets on stage and they don't even sound anything like their studio versions. They bounce around the stage and are winded. LOL! This is a true and magical performance here

All of these boy bands of today don't understand that they learned how to do it from the J5!!! I'm so happy for these clips. They show people WHY Michael was the man from a very young age. Michael is like a member of my family. We grew up together. I'm a singer and my first serious attempts at singing were singing J5 songs.

It really sucks to be young. I'm 19 and I can't say that I am proud of all the music my generation has today. Talentless, souless, no message, no feel good. Thats why I've been stuck in ALL these oldies! Classics for life.
OfficialENXO 1 year ago

Shame on you!!!

iamtripscore 1 year ago 6
@iamtripscore - Indeed, that's insightful of you. I was fortunate enough to have seen the Jackson 5 in their heyday. Jermaine was like a wonder of the world. While the girls were screaming and losing their minds over his teen idol status, my buddies and I, who were musicians, would leave the concert talking about the otherworldly musical talent of Jermaine. Just imagine they entrusted the professional bass playing duties, for a worldwide tour, to a teenager! Unreal.

@Brilliantbeing well if Papa Joe was your dad and probably back stage at the curtain you would play that bass really good too! but they are unreal.

Unique9773 1 year ago
@Unique9773
Mike did not bleach his skin. His autopsy has proven he had vitiligo and lupus. Please look it up.
For goodness sake, I dont think people realize how hard it is to dance and sing with lupus.
Also, Joe was a good manager but as a father...that can be argued. I agree he did a great job in disciplining his children but it would have done his children some good if he showed them love as a Father rather than as a business venture.

sharpi22 1 year ago
@sharpi22 I will be 1st tell this! But the 60's generations did not raise their kids right! I am tired of my fellow black people talking about back then! Yea! black people whooped their kids only when you got on their nerves! They did not whoop you when you do something really wrong like join a gang or sell drugs! Bloods and the krpts started in the 60! Kids talk back because their parents never really took care of them that is why we are messed up today!
TheEzekiel300 1 year ago
@TheEzekiel300 im hispanic and i guess there is a difference on how children are disiplined with other ppl and again i agree with everyword you say.
sharpi22 1 year ago
@sharpi22 the black parents were out of line in the 60's because they did not whoop their kids for the right reasons! the 60's generation did not take care of their kids!
TheEzekiel300 1 year ago
@TheEzekiel300 Who told you that bullshit!! That the 60's generation didn't take care of their kids because they whooped their behinds when they got out of line??? You musttt be European/White!lmaooo!!Its called discipline something we don't have now!! And you see how our communities are today. Now compare the 60's kids to todays kids .Totally different!! talk about what u know.
RealismOfLife 1 year ago
@RealismOfLife I am black american! That is not bullshit it is absolute fact! The worst gangs came from that period The bloods, krpts, black mafia! The older black people complain about this generation and brag about how things were when they were kids! 60's Black men started staying away from their famlies! Yes! black people whooped their kids, but mostly for personal reasons! They did not whoop them when they did serious things crimes! The pimp movies came out in those times and everything!
TheEzekiel300 1 year ago
@TheEzekiel300 Well most gang members back then came from fatherless homes to be honest. But the gangs wasn't all about violence when it first started, it was more of a tribal thing , brothers coming together. Wisdom , Knowledge,Love, Understanding, etc about the people at least in Chicago. Then drugs and money played its part that's when it became violent. Now your parent might've whipped you out of anger. But mines whipped my ass for a reason and im glad they did.
RealismOfLife 1 year ago
@TheEzekiel300 @TheEzekiel300 Mines didn't whoop me for personal reasons ,most black parents and neighbors i knew back then "they even whooped my behind as well" disciplined their kids for a reason. Not to say that they all did because i knew some that were abusive for no reason at all "drunks" but overall had a reason to.That's what went on in my community, kids was out trying to do something destructive we got check rather it was by the neighbor , older peeps, even pimps. makin us go to skool

811ceceq 1 year ago 45
u got a point there, but im 18 and i think i love the jackson 5 music more than michael solo because that's where he came from if it wasnt for j5 then there wouldn't have been a thriller, but i wasnt around during the phenoma of the j5 era but i honestly understand it and apreciate their music as well as michael;s solo music and the other brothers as well
lrwsoreal 1 year ago 3
@811ceceq I'm 43 and I agree wholeheartedly. When he passed, it affected me deeply and I couldn't figure out why it affected me so much. Then, about 3 days later I figured it out. It was becuase it felt like I had lost a member of my family. That's how much a part of our fabric The J5 and The Jacksons were. They were ours and we were theirs. Before Thriller.
bronxbabi100 1 year ago
@811ceceq I hear you loud and clear I am 37 and at fourteen i used to sit and listen to the got to be there album which i believe came out the year i was born' 72...i used to sit and wish i could have been around to really experience his music from j5 but i did the best i could to make up for it, at 14 i started really getting into J5 ofcourse prior to that I was so in love with him, especially with thriller but my earliest and vague memory of their music is show you the way to go,love it

@811ceceq I'm 33. I learned about MJ when I was 7. In 1983. Learning about the Jackson 5 and their music was inevitable, and a blessing.
Worshiping at the altar...only as a master dancer performer....not as GOD...altars are reserved for god...FYI.
KillinDaWelfareMCs 1 year ago
@811ceceq YOU ARE SOOOOOO RIGHT. We knew all along. WAAAAAYYYY before Thriller. And being from Northwest Indiana we knew when they made their regional hit "Big Boy". The J5 and Mike were the best from the very start. It just took America a while to notice it.
Brilliantbeing 1 year ago
@811ceceq eventhough mike was exciting as a solo artist, it was not like when he would perform with his brothers... Marlon and jackie and mike doing the dance steps in unison with such accuracy and precision was incredible... Personally i like mike the best when he was a little boy...There hasn't been a kid that could touch him yet or a boy group that could touch the jackson 5.. There were 2 people that i would emulate as a child growing up : The first was James Brown then Mj.
flatbush46 1 year ago 2
@811ceceq yeah... Michael was already soo great at such a young age... he was the one that shaped the jackson 5, without him, jackson 5 would never have rose to fame at all! People should learn to appreciate his music since he was 5 and not since 23!
