  • I loved this video! I have tried other 10 minute workouts in between school and none have felt as effective as this has. I actually feel like I am doing something. I'm going to try working this at least a couple times into my day along with the rest of my routine. :)

  • Thanks for the comment. This is an easy one to fix. Simply place one hand behind the neck/head and keep it there to support it and removing any strain. Have you watched our Pilates basics video? If not, search 'Pilates basics' on our YouTube channel.

  • @studiopilates I've actually noticed a difference! Thank you so much, and I am actually on the Ducan Diet at this moment and this really helps! But, the bad thing is...I can't really find anything that I can do to cardio because my knees are damaged. Can you help me out?

  • @LilBabi93 Cycling is a great form of cardio that is low impact on the knees but it really depends on how bad your knees are and the specific condition you suffer from. Swimming freestyle or even using a 'pull bouy' (which is a small floatation device held between the thighs when swimming) to eliminate the kick all together is another great option with no impact and helps save the knees. Boxing and kayaking are another couple of options you might like to explore. All the best.

  • I have been doing this excersize almost everyday and I only feel it just right under my ribs, not on my lower stomach, which is what I'm aiming for. Is that suppossed to feel pain right there?

  • @JustTooOrange When I start doing this exercise I noticed the same thing. What made me work my lower stomach was when I for example had my thighs vertical from the floor or further away from the stomach in the tabletop (?) position. The further away you keep your legs from the stomach the more your abs gotto' work. :)

    I'm NOT a PilatesSpecialist or something so don't judge, just trying to help (;

  • woah this is such a hard workout but its really good cuz its painful. but painful is better and i can feel it in my abs wow, and can u plz tell me how much weight i could lose in a week if i do this everyday and do this routine twice one after another????

  • @97doggyluver Umm, you don't lose weight by doing muscle exercises, you lose it by doing cardiovascular exercises such as running, dancing, swimming etc. Ab exercises like this will tone your muscles but you won't be able to see them until you lose fat. :)

  • since i have been doing these exersizes i've been feeling much better... especially after birth because of epidural it was impossible to exercise for seven months... maybe its me but yea, i was wondering how long should I do these exercises a day? like is ten minutes going to be enough? or do i need to do it longer?

    It will tone your stomach area and burn some fat if done for at least 20 minutes. If you want major fat reduction you must incorporate a cardio workout especially one with high intervals. If you are starting out I would recommend you walking 2 minutes then throw in 1 minute intervals of jogging, keep this cycle up for 20 minutes. Over time you get better at it and try to keep the cycle going for 30 minutes then maybe do 2 minutes jog 1 minute walk you get the picture.

  • The only thing I felt was my leg muscles and my back hurting like hell.

  • If your back is hurting you just need to build strength by doing all of the abs exercises with your feet on the floor and not in tabletop. This should eliminate any of this discomfort. This will also eliminate the work in the legs too. Once the abs are stronger you will feel both of these things less. Make sure you watch the Pilates Basics as well. try searching studio Pilates basics

  • Whole of my body is in proportion. I have perfect fitness and measurements. I just want to make a six pack. But i saw a good fitness trainer on utube who said that if we make abs, we loose bit from bust as well. I dont wana do that so i have been avoiding abs. What do u say? is it a myth or what?

  • Myth, Pilates will define the waistline and flatten & sculpt the abs. Get stuck into it.

    Bust can really only reduce if your body fat levels reduce considerably.

  • I've been following the Winsor Pilates (on DVD) for a while. While watching this, I notice that the trainers typically start with their legs in the "table top" position. Would this be more effective for me since I've done Winsor Pilates for a few months?

  • There isn't much difference if you start in tabletop or not, just go with what feel best. The most important thing is that you do a workout regularly....most days if possible!

  • @Batchick94 well m8... pilates isn't a bopdybuilding workout, it's a sculpting workout. The goal of pilates is to have a vv firm and fluid body without bulging muscles. I f you want musclemass you go bodybuilding ifyou want to be slender and firm.. you do this

  • Hi, I have a pouchy lower abdomen and I would like to flatten that along with the rest of the abdomen. Are there any particular excercises for the lower abdomen? This video is great. My abs are on fire now, but I feel great.

  • The T-Zone is the transversus Abdominis which is the only stomach muscle that actually flattens the stomach, in particular the lower section.

  • Yes you can lose weight with Pilates. Combine with healthy eating and a little cardio

  • It only works your abdomen from 2:52 onwards. Everything before that targets the thighs.

  • when your neck starts to hurt suck in your ribs more and it will put more work on your abs rather than your neck. also you can get a hand towel and roll it up and place it under your neck for a little more support.

  • Pilates is less about calorie burning and more about muscle toning. The more lean muscle mass you have more you can burn off any fat through cardio or just your daily activity. Concentrate hard on your reducing your calorie intake (food & drink), do your Pilates most days and a little cardio to compliment for best results.

  • If you can run then go for it. The more intensely you do your cardio, the more energy you will burn, the more fat you lose and the better your results will be!

  • i read that walking briskly with intervals of running for 1-2 minutes is actually more effective in terms of burning calories than just running alone. ill try to find the study and post it here :)

    2) 10 minutes of abs work is great

    3) You should feel results quickly and see results after about 20 days of being strict with your food intake and doing this each day.

  • This is a great workout for toning the abs. You should combine this with some cardio and eating well to get maximum results. Everyday is good :)

  • This work out is challenging. My muscles are fatigued at the end... which is good =) It means my muscles are getting a good work out. Can't wait to start seeing results =)

    Also how many times during the week do you recommend this work out (and should it be nonconsecutive or not)

  • Can you please explain what you mean when you say "T Zone"?

  • T-Zone is a catchphrase or term to describe the activation of the Transversus Abdominis and the Pelvic floor. These are the stomach muscles that are directly responsible for flattening your abdominals and so are vital in getting the best results when doing Pilates. Search 'Pilates basics' in you tube and you should see the full explanation of the T-Zone. I hope this helps....
