I lived in Sacramento in the mid 90s around 1992 till about 1995. and the empty Shopping Center at 2:41 was a Pak and Save and a Family Bargain center and i remember it being a real busy spot . didn't know that it was abandoned what year was it abandoned because when i left Sac in 1995 it was all still there i remember that shopping Center also had a Carls Jr as well. looks like a Ghost town. I Heard Florin Mall is long gone as well.
Yep, like you said "it's coming to your neighborhood". I see it here in Arizona everyday. We have tons of vacant commercial properties and there are foreclosed homes galore. Thanks for posting.
@djgrooveline Do you think you could trouble yourself with some speakers too? I mean sheesh, I'm bringing a tent, the mushrooms & ecstasy & a tempur pedic mattress.
You should have included the empty Hollywood Video store in the same shopping center as that last part on Folsom Blvd. (Wish I could open my own store there.) There's an insanely cheap haircut place in one of the spaces on the end of those buildings, that's where I always go.
Good evidence videos. It's bad in london, uk too, the law makes closed shops n venues, cafes n places window dress the place though with mirrors & ornaments to give ppl the impression things are fine, as boarding up all the closed places shows ppl how bad things are here.
What? Even schools are being shutdown? What is going on with the country? Who is shutting everything down? I want someone to tell me who is closing up everything!?
AAAAHH Florin Rd South Sacramento , used to be known for it's drive bys and Asian gangs , good times , good times . Things might be bad in Sacramento but I'll still love the place no matter what . =)
You know capitalism and greed are at work when there are all these empty & abandoned bulidings, yet our fellow man is forced to live OUTSIDE on the sidewalks.
Wow, and i live in this city. yeah things are going down the $#!tter. Got to get prepared folks, Thats what i think and know, cause what will the Government provide for the people, they couldn't even handle Katrina any good, They are terrible at everything except crashing the economy.
This is everywhere where I live in Nevada... from Reno to Las Vegas... all the stores are empty and lots of homelss people. I live near a national forrest and there are hundred of people taking refuge there because they have nowhere else to go. You know they have been in the area because of the mountains of trash and junk they leave behind... a true testament to the world they left behind.
@stoCKtonRidaz its super shitty, and i keep finding more! thats the crazy part... i think well, i've got this area done, but i'll come back and more pop up like mushrooms.
America needs to reinvigorate its export Industries , as the percentage of the Economy dedicated to exports having declined from 20% to todays 9%, and falling all is not lost ?
I think what happened in California is what will happen to the rest of America in 2010-2012. Our ponzi economy is coming down like a house of cards. Yeah, the the Federal Government will postpone the day of reckoning by borrowing TRILLION & TRILLIONS, but that will in turn provoke a dollar collapse ... which is even worse! Our leaders in Washington are driving us off the cliff and into the Grand Canyon, Thema & Louise style.
well said chap, mega economic depression caused by banks and corporations. ever rising house prices credit=cheap goods from china. lots people day of automation not enough jobs.
Where will the people now work who used to work here? No where most likely, and like here in Southern California, many people along the coast are now sleeping in their vans under freeways and in parking lots.
Hahaha yeah our little town here in california is STILL talking about building a school and trying to see if they will get stimulus funds. It pisses me off that stimulus package is going to fund school building projects and other crap.
thing is most school systems are over staffed due to stimulus money last year....money they wont get next year...10s of thousands of teachers will lose their jobs...mostly experienced teachers will be cut lose to keep cheaper less experienced teachers...teachers unions will not be very helpful
I watch everyday all the articles of whos getting laid off so im very intune of whats going on. Basically whats happening is last year almost no teachers were laid off because of the stimulus funds. They sent out a bunch of notices but they were all rescinded wants the stimulus checks flowed in by late spring.
This year the school districts are seeing that the simulus is going to run out soon so they are cutting budgest across the country in anticipation.
here they hired 20 or so extra teachers ...and some only have 7 students all day...most are related to board members....i cant even get an interview with 15 yrs experience ...masters+40 and highly qualified......
One thing I noticed is like 3/4 of the job loss articles that are showing up lately are education related. Thats because most states force the notices to go out by february or marchso there is thousands of notices going out right now across the country. I imagine that will have an impact on spending as many won't know for sure if they will be really be layed off till like May. Usually layoffs aren't finalized until a few months later once budget is finalized.
in tennessee most teachers will not get UI because they are contract workers...their contracts run from august to may...so when they are let go they wont show up in the numbers because technically they didnt lose their jobs...i was fortunate..they tried to deny my claim but i was not a contract teacher and i worked 12 mos ...
it started in the eighties...teachers would claim ui in the summer months...they did it to stop them from claiming they were laid off....im not sure if all states do it...but many do
I thought they get paid year around on salary to avoid that? I think I remember here in california the high school teachers used to say they got paid equally year around even in summer.
Yeah I think thats what they do in california, you get a choice probably.
Interesting how many chose the teaching profession because there was always a demand and they offered to pay off student loans. Looks like with all the new layoffs coming and no UI benefits they might wind up regretting it.
BTW the other sector im noticing a lot of layoffs suddenly is in hospitals. One hospital in florida is planning laying off 5000 and they still are going to run out of money in 3 months.
of course im in a little bitty town but they are presuring people with 35 yrs plus to retire...that will help...there is no such offer for to pay student loans here.....
I have a friend ..she is in her 50s ..does mri's...she says business is dead....and has been for a year...they are trying to replace seasoned workers with newbes with little experience...lots of nurses here from the phillipines...
I think its a federal program where if you become a teacher they pay off your loans. Its been around for a few years. Don't know too much about it.
All I know is that most people from college wanting to be a teacher because they were in high demand and they didn't know what else to do. The "safe" jobs like teaching and healthcare are not as safe as once thought.
here if you want to get loan forgivness you have to work in some intercity shithole ...
I for one always felt lucky to be teaching...i never took summers off..i was afraid to say no to my bosses...i was taught old school i guess...if you cant do what your bosses need when they need it they dont need you....was my work philosophy
think about the owner of this shopping center...they will walk away soon as nobody is occupying the stores....more loses on banks...CRE collapse will choke the banks...
Hey look at tha Birds circling that Dead- Carcass piece of comm realestate... now this is change we can believe in... amerikkka shall indeed Reap what it has Sowed ... Ahmen... Ashes-to-Ashes...Dust-to-Dust... Praise Jesus, Ahmen!
The solution is quite simple, arrest the banksters and sieze all their assets. End the fed!End the wars! End nafta! All military bases overseas must be fully funded by where they reside or be closed! All government jobs must hire citizens only! No dual citizenships! Slowly raise tarrifs on foreign goods. With the trillions saved rebuild our infrastructure and manufacturing base. Give free education to all citizens for the new tech jobs. It won't happen, so prepare for the worse!

the county could do some simple remodeling and use the store for a school..but then they couldnt rape the citizens for millions more to build one.
