JUST FYI for all of you people arguing i have an '08 cobalt lt. with a 4 gear auto tranny, an intake, and a straight pipe from the resonator back. I gutted just about evertyhing i could from the front seats back, and i can get 0-60 in 7 seconds flat - every time. other times i can hit 60 quicker. i've raced and beat all kinds of v6 f-body's, v6 mustangs, 8th gen civic si's 4dr and 2dr. and the list goes on and on....
wow if thats so then that ls can beat the rsx-s. b/c ive raced one and i won the first then dead even 0-80. 03v6 auto (fenderwell intake) vs rsx-s:manual(tune)

@Wlfhitman the one in this video is a 98 and back which means the v6's in those made only 160 crank hp. and i drive the 03mustang. the 99-2003 make 193hp/225tq.

@btjack03 Tsudo Exhaust picked that up for $250 new which is a damn good deal, and doesn't sound ricey has a nice deep throat to it. cold air they are all pricey for the cobalt, find a used one, also if you want to spend about $1500, you can honestly get the ss supercharger used with all parts+tune so if you can throw down about $2000 Max you can have about 220whp supercharger
I own a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS I have put on Magna-Flo Exhaust system, Ingen Cold air intake, pace setter (tunner) headers, and a performance chip set control and trust me the power is nice. I suggest getting the ingen cold air intake first, you will feel the increase of power.

thats a 99-04 mustang which has 190-193 horsepower, not 150 dumbass.. the cobalt only has 171 hp.. the cobalt won the race, but the mustang had a bad start at the line, not to mention with the cobalts weak little 4 cyl and its 2.2l engine its alot lighter than than the stang.. i drive a 2000 v6 mustang with a few bolt ons and sct tuner and just smoked a cobalt ss supercharged the other day.. you SLObalt owners are completely stupid if you think your car is faster than a mustang..

well top end there good, low end they suck, i was door to door to a si till end of the 1/8th mile and they pulled a car on me, but the new turbo cobalts.....0-60 in around 5.4 seconds...wish i could aford its insurance
The Si is only a good match for a 2.4l sport cobalt, and even then it will usually lose. It doesnt stand a chance against a SS of any kind, especially a modified one.
Listen, I have a Cobalt LT 5 speed and I KNOW how slow they are! A new Civic SI will win an old Mustang V6 but there's a heck of a diference with a new SI and a Cobalt LS. As for basic Civic, its not even worth mentioning. Was the old V6 you won stock? Auto? Try against an 09 V6 5 speed! Cobalt LS\LT make 0-100k in 8sec, This is SLOW! I;m happy with my Cobalt. It's an econo box, That's it! My Mustang is for speed. Trust me, you have no race car!

hey for what it is 8 seconds 0-60 is actually quite quick.. throw some basic bolt on mods you could really cut that down by 1/1.5 second and you got yourself a nice little fun car to drive.

Yea I have a cavalier z24, and Ive done a full exhaust, CAI and some other minor bolt ons and I can do 0-60 in about 7.4-7.8 seconds.. and I mean you can call that slow but I raced an AUDI 1.8T or w/e they are, beat it, raced a tibouron .. beat it. I dont claim my car is king shit but its one hell of a fun car to drive.
7.4 is quick for a small car actually. Itls faster than most economy cars. Just do it safely at the track! And don't try against Neon SRT4.... even my Mustang can't get close...
13mpg? christ get into a higher gear already. My 89gt had no problem getting 28mpg on the highway in 5th (granted with 2.73s and stock timing) but it ran 14.4s all day (it was stock and a heavy vert so the time is impressive for 20 years ago lol)
@guyd37 Mustangs aren't race cars either. Even a Mustang GT is no race car. They might be quicker than most cars, but they aren't that fast. Mustangs always were and always will be cheaply made sport cars for some fun driving, and won't go seriously fast without heavy modification.
if you see how fast the cobalt pulled away it really didn't have much to do with the car and more to do with the driver. There is no way a Cobalt LS pushing 145 HP is going to walk on a V6 Mustang like that.

also if he did a engine swap on that cobalt and put the gm 3800 series 3 v-6 in it..and turbo'd that...(supercharged like how gm did is ok but the turbo works better in the end)...and boost it and tune it right..that cobalt would run all over ur mustang. youd have to dump a bunch of money in ur stang just to even keep up with it again, plus itd get better gas mileage while beating you.

ok take the cobra and spend 4k on a 2.8 kennebell mammoth supercharger that puts the cobra around 775hp on the stock engine block. can't touch that in your pussy 4 banger. no matter how much you spend
really? u think not? The Ecotech 2.0l motor has been proven to hold over 1000hp on the stock block, look it up. A Synapse big turbo kit with only injectors, bigger turbo, and tune will up the power of the 2800lb Cobalt SS Turbo to 383whp and 373ft-lbs @ 18psi. Add meth/water injection, boost it up to over 450whp on stock internals. Race gas, well over 530whp. Stock forged internals will hold up to 22psi. Up the boost to 20psi, 600whp. Tune it, around 650whp.....in a 2800lb cobalt...got it? lol
no u wont. its simple to add 250whp to something with bolt ons, but after that it takes quite a bit money to make even an extra 100whp. All the mods i named in my former messege add up to about 5-6,000 bucks for 600whp in a 2800lb car. Add that to a V8 mustang gt, and u will get around 500whp in a 3700lb car, still not enough to beat the cobalt (ss mind u) b/c it has high compression, it doesnt have forged internals, so any boost add ons can only be pushed so far with detenation.
I've never seen a car gain 250whp with bolt ons unless it involves messing with the turbo. There are some fast Cobalts out there, but there are more fast Mustangs. I do believe what you're saying, I just don't think it'd be cost effective to do it to a FWD car with a 2L engine. If you gave me 6K to mess with my car I'd have a supercharger and a forged bottom end with enough torque to spin the earth the opposite direction.
the new ss/tc have been putting down 350whp/380wtq with only intake catback and tune. pretty good for still getting 30+mpg and running high 12s/low 13s. obviously v8s can put down a lot better numbers than that, but imo there isnt a better daily driver out there.
hmm, i no longer have this orange one, but in it i had door to door with a Tc, but my engine shut off at 105....now my new cobalt doesn't have this limiter, it counts on the driver the launch and shifts
the 98 and below r rated at 150 horse, 99 up is rated at 193 for new edge models (99 to 04) and even more due to the bigger displacement on the S197 models (05 +)
his was a 98 but for what i seen, i could prob still beat the 99+ cause i raced a kid on the highway and when i let off at 120 he said he was only at 95

The year in the video was the body styles from 93-98
The GT had 215hp and the V6 had only 150hp.

hey for what it is 8 seconds 0-60 is actually quite quick.. throw some basic bolt on mods you could really cut that down by 1/1.5 second and you got yourself a nice little fun car to drive.

Yea I have a cavalier z24, and Ive done a full exhaust, CAI and some other minor bolt ons and I can do 0-60 in about 7.4-7.8 seconds.. and I mean you can call that slow but I raced an AUDI 1.8T or w/e they are, beat it, raced a tibouron .. beat it. I dont claim my car is king shit but its one hell of a fun car to drive.

7.4 is quick for a small car actually. Itls faster than most economy cars. Just do it safely at the track! And don't try against Neon SRT4.... even my Mustang can't get close...

13mpg? christ get into a higher gear already. My 89gt had no problem getting 28mpg on the highway in 5th (granted with 2.73s and stock timing) but it ran 14.4s all day (it was stock and a heavy vert so the time is impressive for 20 years ago lol)

@guyd37 Mustangs aren't race cars either. Even a Mustang GT is no race car. They might be quicker than most cars, but they aren't that fast. Mustangs always were and always will be cheaply made sport cars for some fun driving, and won't go seriously fast without heavy modification.

if you see how fast the cobalt pulled away it really didn't have much to do with the car and more to do with the driver. There is no way a Cobalt LS pushing 145 HP is going to walk on a V6 Mustang like that.
This is coming from someone who just bought a Cobalt LS.

Mustang: 17.3 in the quarter mile and 9.9 seconds for 0-60
Cobalt:0-60 in 8.4 1/4 in is appox low 16's

also if he did a engine swap on that cobalt and put the gm 3800 series 3 v-6 in it..and turbo'd that...(supercharged like how gm did is ok but the turbo works better in the end)...and boost it and tune it right..that cobalt would run all over ur mustang. youd have to dump a bunch of money in ur stang just to even keep up with it again, plus itd get better gas mileage while beating you.

I partially agree with you. People who drive Cavaliers and Colbalts and Neons and all the american econoboxes CAN NOT rag on hondas and Mitsubishi's cuz they are the same shit. However, i dont see why anyone needs an 8cyl in a car, unless they intend to race it, just doesnt seem sensible for day to day. So having a car that is affordable, drivable, AND SEMI-fast has become popular (aka 4cyl with forced inducs and stiff suspention). We all drive what we can.

a gas saver that beats mustang Gt's stock for stock??...i would call that shitty lol. imma guess that if ur in the low 12's, ur modded to put out close to 400hp, maybe a little more. And ur mods probably cost u a lil over 2-3 grand. well for the t/c cobalt, 3 grand will get a twin charge kit and will put me at around 440hp and 290tq on pump gas, and 4 grand will get me a big turbo kit that will put me at 370hp and 383tq...power to weight ratio makes me faster than ur cobra,...no rice lol

really? u think not? The Ecotech 2.0l motor has been proven to hold over 1000hp on the stock block, look it up. A Synapse big turbo kit with only injectors, bigger turbo, and tune will up the power of the 2800lb Cobalt SS Turbo to 383whp and 373ft-lbs @ 18psi. Add meth/water injection, boost it up to over 450whp on stock internals. Race gas, well over 530whp. Stock forged internals will hold up to 22psi. Up the boost to 20psi, 600whp. Tune it, around 650whp.....in a 2800lb cobalt...got it? lol

no u wont. its simple to add 250whp to something with bolt ons, but after that it takes quite a bit money to make even an extra 100whp. All the mods i named in my former messege add up to about 5-6,000 bucks for 600whp in a 2800lb car. Add that to a V8 mustang gt, and u will get around 500whp in a 3700lb car, still not enough to beat the cobalt (ss mind u) b/c it has high compression, it doesnt have forged internals, so any boost add ons can only be pushed so far with detenation.

I've never seen a car gain 250whp with bolt ons unless it involves messing with the turbo. There are some fast Cobalts out there, but there are more fast Mustangs. I do believe what you're saying, I just don't think it'd be cost effective to do it to a FWD car with a 2L engine. If you gave me 6K to mess with my car I'd have a supercharger and a forged bottom end with enough torque to spin the earth the opposite direction.

the new ss/tc have been putting down 350whp/380wtq with only intake catback and tune. pretty good for still getting 30+mpg and running high 12s/low 13s. obviously v8s can put down a lot better numbers than that, but imo there isnt a better daily driver out there.

the 98 and below r rated at 150 horse, 99 up is rated at 193 for new edge models (99 to 04) and even more due to the bigger displacement on the S197 models (05 +)
