In my opinion is no a good movie at all.. and but in any case the award would be for the young actor that makes it much better. Kate made a boring and dull performance..
As for the script of the movie .. is rather vulgar, and more of the same. One more excuse to go into the boring topic of the Nazis.
The only good movie that she did is JUDE. Tha YES deserves an award but for him.. Jude actor, not her neither.

Muy buena pelicula una de la smejor e pero lo malo fue que no vi cunaod ella se va porque me tuve que ir y cunado regrese mi prima ya lo habia comenzado otra vexz pero de todas maneras Buenisima
i watched this movie. but, i didn't focus much because im a minor. haha. they showed the boy's _ _ _ _ _!!! eew. but the story was sad. and at first i didn't understand why Kate stepped on the books, then my cousin simply said that she hanged herself. which made me cry.
I must say, this is a good book. Quite interesting. I have the book, received it on my birthday, and I read it. I really didn't expect the ending so I thought that was good.
it's very good. must admit, i was expecting some typical Hollywood rubbish but I was impressed. makes you think about justice, choice and right/wrong. (kate winslet could have been a bit better though)
I don't understand what all the comments about TDK are for. Personally, I found it boring. Heath held the entire movie together. He was the only reason I didn't fall asleep.
Back to what we all /should/ be talking about is the Reader. I thought it was an amazing movie. Much better than TDK, but I do think Slumdog deserved best Picture.
So you must think that 'Benjamin Button' was better than The Reader then. I think most would disagree with you, there. At the Oscar ceremony, didn't Hugh Jackman say something like, "Why don't comic book movies get nominated?" It is a shame, and this should have been the year a comic book got Nominated for Best Picture.
The Reader was good but the Dark Knight was better and now there probably wont ever be another comic book movie close enough to getting nominated unfortunately. I was acoutally disapponted with not just the Dark Knight getting snubbed from best picture but they also snubbed Clint Eastwood from best actor in Gran Torino
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Can someone please tell me what was so good about the Dark Knight?
Personally, I was disappointed with it. I really can't understand why so many people are comparing a film that is based on a comic book with real Oscar-worthy films such as The Reader. I honestly believe that the main reason so much hype surrounds the Dark Knight is because of the death of Heath Ledger, and although a good Joker he was, deserves more recognition for his roles in Brokeback Mountain and Monster's Ball than the DK
Nope The Dark Knight was better not just for Heath's performance but it's also considered to be one of the The greatest crime thrillers ever and it exceed ed in many levels that no action movie has done before. The only thing that I liked about the Reader was Kate Winslet
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's hardly a "crime thriller".
I don't know why people like it so much. I found it boring.
Heath Ledger wasn't as good as Jack Nicholson in DK, and his roles in Brokeback Mountain and Monster's Ball were FAR better in my opinion and a lot more Oscar worthy.
I acutally think it's an insult to Heath that he wasn't really recognised for Brokeback and Monster's Ball, but he was for a relatively small part in a Batman movie released shortly after his death.
Heath Ledger was very good in the Dark Knight and in Brokeback Mountain as well. And how is TDK not a crime thriller it's just as much of a crime thriler as others like The Departed and No Country For Old Men
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Come on, it just isn't. It's a Batman film.
It's kid stuff.
It shouldn't be takes as seriously as films like, for instance, Brokeback Mountain or The Reader. They are films that deserve Oscars because they have relevant contemporary points and provide social commentary on important issues. TDK is based on a comic book, enough said.
Why don't we just go ahead give Spiderman the best picture Oscar, hey?
It's not a kids film in the sense that it's full of teletubbies and what have you, but it's based on a comic book which is intended for a younger audience. I don't really find superhero/villain movies to be compelling entertainment, although I do acknowledge that it permeates the movie industry at this moment in time in many different formats.
I think we should just agree to disagree here, you liked the Dark Knight and I didn't, I can't change your opinion. We should just leave it at that.
"Der Vorleser" from Bernard Schlink is a very complicated work, raising questions of the synergy between law and morale. It's a piece about guilt and punishment.
Most adults do not even start to understand all aspects of the Book. I read it in school, in 13th grade. It's not a comic book, you must have been misinformed.
No, I'm afraid in this circumstance you are misinformed haha! You've totally misinterpreted my comments. I was talking about the Dark Knight (Batman) which is based on a comic book, not the Reader.
Me and another user were debating about whether the Dark Knight deserves an Oscar. I personally don't think it does, but the other user did. I was saying that films such as The Reader (or "Der Vorleser" as you call it) is more worthy of an Oscar than the Dark Knight will ever be.

I watched THE READER yesterday, it made me cry when she taught herself how to read in jail! I couldnt believe it that her character rather went to jail, then to admit that she's illiterate. Also in REV.ROAD I could feel her character's desperation and pain so much! God she is such an outstanding actress!!!!
this was a very disturbing movie. (I'm on a waiting list for the book.) why would you be ashamed that you couldn't read or write, but not regret that you murdered innocent people?
I've Read The Book And It's One Of The Most Captivating Stories Ever Written In My Opinion. I Believe Kate Winslet Will Let The Movie Live Up To It's Expectations. She's An Extremely Talented Actress And I Don't Think It's Possible She'd Give A Bad Performance. x
