  • Excellent movie!

  • The book is better than the movie,go out and buy it! Or buy the movie and the book you can't go wrong.

  • this one have bold scene's ahaha

  • This movie was hot. I loved the fact it was an older woman and young man. Excellent movie.

  • Yo dude, thanks for the spoiler. I came on to see the trailer, not know the ending!!!!!! Grrrrr.

  • Comment removed

  • i just watched this movie yesterday, it's probably one of the best movies ive ever seen, i cried a frickin lot at the ending

  • the song in this trailer is called 'primavera' by ludovico einaudi

  • I could have done without the puke scenes in the beginning.

  • I must say, this is a good book. Quite interesting. I have the book, received it on my birthday, and I read it. I really didn't expect the ending so I thought that was good.

  • what song is that playing with this trailer?

  • whats the title of the song from about 1:27 till end? any idea?

    such marvelous strings! :)

  • Probably an original score for the film itself.

  • Yes we all know the holocaust DIDNT happen...

  • This is based on one of my favorite books.

    Der Vorleser, in german.

I'm curious to see what they do with it.

  • It's already out. It's on DVD.

  • a great movie

  • Best movie of the year, no doubt. Kate Winslet deserved the Oscar, David Kross played very well and you cannot

forget the sad look of Ralph Fiennes in the whole film.

  • this movie is disgusting... i didn't like it!!! gia tous ellines xondri malakia!

  • this movie is amazing! i love it

  • I just finished the novel, it's amazing. The Trailer looks great too

  • trailer sucks though

  • has anyone seen the movie here? im debating on whether or not to see it? is it good?

  • it's very good. must admit, i was expecting some typical Hollywood rubbish but I was impressed. makes you think about justice, choice and right/wrong. (kate winslet could have been a bit better though)

  • oh very good, just go and see

  • go watch it, it made me cry.. one of my favorite movies from now on

  • very good movie! i liked it very much and I didn't think before than i saw it

  • wow reading the descriptions plot make it more boring than i expected

  • hua hua hua!!!! :Op

  • the book's great

  • I don't understand what all the comments about TDK are for. Personally, I found it boring. Heath held the entire movie together. He was the only reason I didn't fall asleep.

Back to what we all /should/ be talking about is the Reader. I thought it was an amazing movie. Much better than TDK, but I do think Slumdog deserved best Picture.

  • Tell that to thousands of fans and critics who praised the movie

  • really good book, really good movie

  • the oscars are a farce a self promoting farce that sheople like you people go to be told which crappy film to waste 12$ on

  • read the book first, or watch the movie first? oO

both seem so. .. tempting D:

  • this is a very deep thought provoking film. I was moved really while watching it, and its funny how society judges one another.

  • Kate Winslet was very good in this movie and deserved to win. But The Dark Knight should have taken it's place for best picture it was way better.

  • So you must think that 'Benjamin Button' was better than The Reader then. I think most would disagree with you, there. At the Oscar ceremony, didn't Hugh Jackman say something like, "Why don't comic book movies get nominated?" It is a shame, and this should have been the year a comic book got Nominated for Best Picture.

  • The Reader was good but the Dark Knight was better and now there probably wont ever be another comic book movie close enough to getting nominated unfortunately. I was acoutally disapponted with not just the Dark Knight getting snubbed from best picture but they also snubbed Clint Eastwood from best actor in Gran Torino

  • Nope The Dark Knight was better not just for Heath's performance but it's also considered to be one of the The greatest crime thrillers ever and it exceed ed in many levels that no action movie has done before. The only thing that I liked about the Reader was Kate Winslet

  • Tell that to every film critic and see what they'll say. Almost all of them thought The Dark Knight should have been nominated.

  • That's a bit of a blanket statement.

    Every film critic?

    Surely not.

    And if so, who?

Heath Ledger's death in my eyes has hyped up the film to be more than it actually is. It was tedious.

  • Heath Ledger was very good in the Dark Knight and in Brokeback Mountain as well. And how is TDK not a crime thriller it's just as much of a crime thriler as others like The Departed and No Country For Old Men

  • Ok your stupid for saying it's a kids film.

  • It's not a kids film in the sense that it's full of teletubbies and what have you, but it's based on a comic book which is intended for a younger audience. I don't really find superhero/villain movies to be compelling entertainment, although I do acknowledge that it permeates the movie industry at this moment in time in many different formats.

I think we should just agree to disagree here, you liked the Dark Knight and I didn't, I can't change your opinion. We should just leave it at that.

  • Not olnly was I ticked off that TDK wasn't nominated for Best Picture but also that Clint Eastwood was snubbed from Best Actor in Gran Torino

  • What the hell are you talking about?

"Der Vorleser" from Bernard Schlink is a very complicated work, raising questions of the synergy between law and morale. It's a piece about guilt and punishment.

Most adults do not even start to understand all aspects of the Book. I read it in school, in 13th grade. It's not a comic book, you must have been misinformed.

  • No, I'm afraid in this circumstance you are misinformed haha! You've totally misinterpreted my comments. I was talking about the Dark Knight (Batman) which is based on a comic book, not the Reader.

Me and another user were debating about whether the Dark Knight deserves an Oscar. I personally don't think it does, but the other user did. I was saying that films such as The Reader (or "Der Vorleser" as you call it) is more worthy of an Oscar than the Dark Knight will ever be.

  • So I'm actually in strong defense of your statement about the book and the film!

  • And I think I deserve an apology for your stupidity!

  • Even though Heath was good in Broke Back Mountain Phillip Seymour Hoffman was way more deserving for Capaote.

  • But you think that 'Benjamin Button' was better than The Reader? Whatever the case, 2008 was a very good year for movies. There was going to be snubs no matter what. And to J20, you don't know how silly you sound. The Dark Knight was already very hyped before Heath Ledger even died.

  • The Soundtrack is AMAZING!

  • I finished watching it. I want to read the book now, too.

  • i read the book and it fascinated me! and now i know that the movie is made, i can't wait to watch it.

  • A truly excellent film !

  • So true , i just finish watching it now , it's so brilliant , i've got to get the book xP

  • A very well deserved Oscar indeed!, the best moment of the Oscars night!!! We love you Kate Winslet!! ;OD

  • So true ! Kate Winslet is so Adorable , and such a good actress she deserved it all though Meryl Streep deserved it too !

  • Jews...

  • humans........that is what they are

  • OMG... I need to see that!

  • THE content is about a pedophile seducing a juvenile.

  • Kate really deserved it! Congrats baby, you got it.

  • bastards! go watch it it's 7 (more or less) freakin' bucks!

  • I want...scratch that...NEED to see this movie.

    Wow, wow, wow.

Love Kate Winslet. I know she'll be amazing in it. As she is in everything else.

  • o boy.....

this movie in no way does it focus on jews yes its true it focuses on the nazi trials which was a time in history but thats about it

so stop being paranoid and whining and moaning and thinking its all about us

and the side burns are awesome!!!

  • I heard mixed reviews of this movie, but overall I liked it--at the very least I think that it is a very faithful adaptation of the book, and gets the story across well enough. Makes me want to re-read the book, and it reminded me why I loved the book so much. I only wish I had been able to see it non!dubbed.....

  • better than Benjamin Button and Milk IMO

  • I haven't seen Milk, but I liked Benjamin Button a lot--I think they are about equal at the very least....

  • Yes, i think you're right. thanks for the clear-up. BTW, Milk isn't... that great. It's okay. Sean Penn's nuanced acting holds it together; his mannerisms are subtle and perfect.......

  • Such a cool movie :)

  • this is the best emotional and amazing movie I have ever saw, maybe with the pianist...

  • This is NOT ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST

  • Um, yes it is. Not directly, no--this isn't Schindler's List or anything like that. But it is about the effects of the Holocaust, the guilt of the German people, the anger of the new generation at their parents and other adults for having let it happen, trying to understand how it happened--how a woman like Hannah, whom Michael loved, could have committed atrocities. And there's the survivors' story. Of course it is about the Holocaust, just a different angle than usual.

  • what was the name of the song in this commercial, the one in the second half?

  • I watched THE READER yesterday, it made me cry when she taught herself how to read in jail! I couldnt believe it that her character rather went to jail, then to admit that she's illiterate. Also in REV.ROAD I could feel her character's desperation and pain so much! God she is such an outstanding actress!!!!

  • this was a very disturbing movie. (I'm on a waiting list for the book.) why would you be ashamed that you couldn't read or write, but not regret that you murdered innocent people?

  • this trailer ROCKS!!!

  • I've Read The Book And It's One Of The Most Captivating Stories Ever Written In My Opinion. I Believe Kate Winslet Will Let The Movie Live Up To It's Expectations. She's An Extremely Talented Actress And I Don't Think It's Possible She'd Give A Bad Performance. x

  • I think she was asking if she should have not signed up for the SS guards after Siemens...

  • We read this book back in High School years ago in Europe.

I hope the movie will be worthy of the book.

  • What a great performance by all of the actors involved. Kate does deserve an Oscar for this movie. If you haven't seen the movie already, go watch it. It'll be worth the money.

  • I just read the book. But the movie's pretty good too. David Kross and Kate Winslet are convincing

  • oooooooooooooh David Kross.... -swoon-

  • Unbelievable film. And fantastic performances by Kate Winslet and David Kross.

  • ludovico einaudi is a fucking genius.

  • Does anyone know the music from 1:22 and on? Especially from 1:38 and on! Please if anyone knows answer! Is it on the movie's soundtrack?

  • This is the music from the trailer: Ludovico Einaudi - Primavera

  • Thank you so much!

  • She better win that freakin Oscar.

  • What difference does it make to you?

  • to everyone!!!!!...a big difference, she deserves it.

  • That lucky 18 year old bastard.

  • hahaha I agree!! :OD

  • I just saw the movie and it is one the best movies I've seen in a long time. The movie stays very true to the novel. =)

  • I just finished reading the book and I can't wait to see the movie.

  • The book was incredible and I imagine the movie will be just as well. :)

  • you favorite movies: The Dark Knight, Borat, Friends, Little Britain, Made, Wall - E, Sex & the city, 8 mile, panic room, I am Legend, Hitch

(All are overrated, predictable, and boring boring boring!!!)

how did i know this? im a stalker :D

  • I don't know what thats actors name is, but his incedibly hot for an old guy...

  • the older one is ralph fiennes he also plays "he who should not be named"

  • you're from the UK and you don't who Ralph Fiennes is ?

  • and Kate Winslet, britain as you

  • I love this music. Does any one know the name of it?

  • Primavera by Ludovico Einaudi

  • Book was amazing...hopefully the movie lives up to it

  • Read the book as well though- by Bernard Schlink. Such an important piece of work

  • it looks AWESOME! i cant wait to see it

  • It looks like it's going to be a riveting film.
