good memories! learned to drive on my friends 1931 model a sport coupe. im 19, i learned to drive on it at 15. i think the model a was the perfect car for me to learn on, i can drive anything now (including his model t!)
@aviatorsbh, reason being is because its not syncroed, when you double clutch you slow the input gear down to the same speed as the higher ratio gear so it will mesh. in low gear the input shaft is spinning alot faster then second gear so the second gear that is spinning from the axle is going alot slower then the input shaft gear was in first, it takes to long to let it slow down by itself.
Great video - congrats! And don't forget to start turning an good half-mile before you get to the curve (there's a bit of play in these old steering wheels).
Nice double-clutching, Model A Fords are great cars if you know how to drive them right (double-clutching ect.) I learned to drive on one being taught by my grandfather last summer.
I haven't ridden in an "A" for well over 50 yrs; my best friend had a "29 coupe in the early 50s. And a girl who can double clutch impresses me--think I'm in love. Sorry to say, I never got to drive an A, or a T, for that matter.
That's it! that does it! I must have or at least drive a model a. Hopefully by next year i will have saved enough to purchase a stocker for my daily driver. I'll be livin life in the slow lane...

I had a 31 and I remember the brakes. You gotta really pay attention to where you are gonna stop and plan ahead.

If you have an old car that has no electric indicators, what does the law say about driving at night with poor visibility?

I always wanted a Ford Model A. Maybe one day I'll get lucky.

sometimes you have to double clutch when shifting down as the gears wont slow down, so you double clutch it andn then sinc it in,
and then gradually slow down,
as it has mech brakes, so the feel of a modern car isnt there ,
no boost or vaceum,
model a's have a niche that no other car has, they are fun to drive and alot cheaper to redo than a packard, or pierce,

Why do you double clutch when shifting up? Wouldn't it work also when just engaging the higher gear after a short delay?

All the shifter noises that sound like you ran a racoon over are normal.
