The fragility of the current system will be revealed as oil prices rise: it is highly centralized, abusive to the land, and totally inflexible, dependent upon machinery and inputs to produce anything.
The most important thing is land, rural land out of a city because the fucking zombies will be a problem, not because you need acres to grow on, but because it's the place to be.
Then save food and grow food and sustain yourself.

However, even if we discovered a magical food-making machine tomorrow that endlessly cranked out all the food and water that everyone in the entire world needed, we would STILL be looking down the cruel and heartless barrel of yet ANOTHER crisis: global overpopulation.
It has been estimated that Earth has a max "carying capacity" of 2 billion people. Anything higher and you've regrettably achieved what's called "overshoot." And since the current planet-wide population is 6 billion people, we already overshot carrying capacity back in the 1950's and now have three times as many people as can be sustained.
The shortages are indeed coming, but they'll be directly attributable to this overpopulation we've painted ourselves into a corner with.
In poor nations Adults use their Children as their retirement. When a nation develops, has sound money and savings that is when the population growth goes down.
Overpopulation has been a scare tactic of the ENVIROFREAKS. When I was 12 at the Magic House there was a red square you could stand in. That represented the amount of space left in the year 2000 if the population growth continued. Yea a big lie. We take up 2% of the land.
Our physical bodies only need a small fraction of land if all we did was stand around all day. But beyond standing, we also need to grow food, draw water, and sleep in a horizontal position with a bit of room left over on either side as we lie there for 8 hours.
After all of the above has been met, we also need a dumping ground to dispose of physical waste. And once a dump has been filled, we need to go and find another dump, and another, and another.
That is a great debate How many people can the world support? that Number is not truly unknown.
My real point is that if anyone is concerned about overpopulation then they need to work towards sound money, savings, and true financial growth that is when the population growth goes down.

Overpopulation is a reality I didn't want to add to the video. I want to move people towards action, not scare them away from it.
The worlds child average is moving towards two kids. Even in third world countries, as education and contraceptives become more available.
The whole over carrying capacity thing is going to be nasty.
