Wonderful Victoria line trains to usual, i don't like any new one against anymore. Is my life for transport since in 1938 stock & 90's is best of The Victoria, Bakerloo and Northern lines forever.
Travelling south bound from Highbury & Islington to Kings X is very fast. The train has to slow it self down a couple of times while it seems to go down hill, sounds like the motors take a bit of a kicking when this happens when your riding in the front carriage...
i LOVE travelling on the underground, i went for the first time back in july 2009 and loved it!!!!! loved all the busyness of London as a whiole!!! LOVE YOU BECCY!!!!
The most convienient and efficient line ever. the deep sounds it makes can be loud and scary though, it is the oldest stock currently on the tube, the new 2009 stock is fantastic, much like the 1992 stock on the central line. that leaves only the sub-surface lines (to be replaced by S-stock soon), piccadilly line and bakerloo line with old stocks, i wonder what they will look like after their replacements.
@ut91 metropolitan line is the oldest stock on the system it was made in 1960 and they referbished the stock about 13 years ago victoria line is 1967 7 years after.
i said you will hear a ghostly sound not a ghost on the victoria line when its traveling south of oxford circus towards green park it makes that sound ALOT and it kinda freaks you out and i found out its highest speed is 50mph or 60
Just got back from holiday in London...my 5th time there...the Underground is near spotless...love it! I live near New York City, the subways here stink of piss and are full of rubbish and homeless scumbags...welcome to America!!!
@5thSSVikingDiv shut up .... im american and ive lived in london and your a tourist so you probably think its nice and british but try living here .... its always cancelled and overcrowded and rundown
for some reason at Finsbury park on the Viccy Line, there is that tell tale low screeching noise before the train comes in, i think its cos the tracks are on a curve for a long way from HIghbury, and its going down hill. The journey from Seven Sisters down to Kings X is really fast on the Vic line, specially towards Kings X, you get that roaring metally echo....really anoyying sometimes
the screeching is not normal: it indicates either worn out wheeels rails or a combination of both. That's why they have do carry out engineering work at night or weekends!
i hate the new trains! theyre so boring they need to bring back that crazy old school orange upholstery they used on the trains and buses and the wood floors ftw
Why German? What a bizarre thing to say. I think trains will increasingly become more boring because of globalisation, a few decades ago trains were all built by state run companies in different countries, meaning they were all distinct, now they're built by a small handful of private companies...
A Tube profile train isn't suited to the Berlin *U-bahn*. What I think is you relised your first post was a load of codswollop but are too proud to admit it?
they look rather like the 1992 stock on the central line, they are being made by bombardier who do have quite a few manufacturing area's in germany and italy and spain aswell so some german manufacturers may have had an influence over the design and the germans have produced some very nice stock recently

I'm visiting London for the first time in Sept/2010. I also live in NYC and our subways are the pits. Can't wait to visit.

is it true there replacing some of the 1972mkII's(bakerloo line) with 1967's?(victoria line)
tubeinfoboy123 2 years ago
i highly doubt that, they wouldn't replace a line with an older stock
ut91 2 years ago
Its true. They will be replacing some of the 1972 backerloo trains with some of the 1967 victoria line trains.

What was the sound it made as it left the station?

If your asking bout the clicking noise its the motors starting up as the train starts to move

I loved the e engine when the train came out of the tunnel, i like it when the rrr covers the e, i find it sexy. Not as sexy as car engines though

Well they say that the 1967 stock will be switched over to the bakerloo line once the 2009 stock is in full service
