@Pagra101 I like some British bands (The Animals, The Beatles, The Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, The Kinks, The Who, The Yardbirds), and I love The Rolling Stones. But that is just not fair to say "All" the best bands are are British.
ABBA was a great group from Sweeden. The Undertones was a great band from Ireland.
@Pagra101 And The Ike & Tina Turner Revue, The Beach Boys, The Ronettes, The Shangri-Las, The Four Seasons, The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Monkees, The Doors, The Velvet Underground, The J. Geils Band, The Stooges, The New York Dolls, Aerosmith, The Ramones, and Blondie are all great bands/groups from The United States.
@Pagra101 And that's not even counting the great doo-wop groups (The Coasters, The Platters, The Teenagers, Dion & The Belmonts, etc.) of the 1950s, and solo singers with backing bands (such as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Eddie Cochran), or great duos such as The Everly Brothers, Jan & Dean, and The Righteous Bros., all great too, and not a one of them from England/Great Britain.
I saw this tour in D.C. I was 16. I was standing around with 6 of my friends [We hitch hiked from Jersey] No money, Just some fine Bud. Some guy walkes up to me and says " You wanna see the show". I looked at my friends and they said "Go ahead Ronnie", So I did.... As we walked in he said "Put out your tongue".He gave me a hit of some really good acid .He disapeared after we got in and I triped my ass off watching a GREAT Show!! That is what the 70's was all about, We really were all family!
@TheJetfighter666 so let me get this straight you hitch hiked from jersey to D.C. to get a hit of acid from a guy u didnt even know and was fucked up the whole concert so u probably didnt remember it. AWESOME
@mrnorvilletuffnuts Yup! He just picked me out , We went in and he split.Tripped my Balls off HARD. I saw the show and then again, I didn't..I remember more of Stevie Wonder then the boys..39 years ago.WOW.After the show we said we would meet under the Washington monument. I had my little cass. player and it started to rain bu it was so Beautiful. My friends showed up about 45 mins later. We called the dad of one of the gang and he came and got us. TRUE ! Just one of my many shows and experiences
man im 20 years old and me being a huge STONES NUT went and saw this movie! Man it was so incredible and my excitement im sure can explain the same excitement felt by most of the viewers whome are now in there 50's and 60's when they were my age seeing the ROLLING STONES!!! that film was incredible to watch on the big screen!! they are a true 100% rock n roll and blues and soul band man!!! the only style of music i like to listen to ever!!!!
@dkstryker OMG exactly like me! I was lucky enough to win tickets to an EXCLUSIVE imax preview of Live at the Max - and i was FREEEAAAKING OUT!!! and like you, I'm about 30, 40 years out of the usual Stones demographic but DAMN i loveeeeeee my Stones (easily to the point of OVER-obsession)!!!! like i cant say enough how freakin high i was, only way to describe it was I was kept HAPPY!!!! ;)
@jaysfca there were actually a lot of overdubs done. You can find the versions without overdubs on youtube. I know they totally beefed up Keith's vocals on "Happy", actually making it sound much better.
dude i saw this last night and shit there was more people than i expected in burbank ca and this was an experience that was wow seeing the rolling stones on a big screen was wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! thumps up if you thought midnight rambler was intense!!!!
I saw this last night! Loved it! Mick talks about the making of the movie and the tour for this movie. He looks like a staid old parliament dude now in his blue chambray shirt! Wow times have changed!
saw it last night in suburban Philadelphia. Maybe 20 people in the audience. Was impressed with the sound but was expecting more from the remastered video. The $12.50 was a bit excessive. I them in 72 for half that and they were LIVE.
Saw it last night in Boston. The theater was one third full of very rowdy Stones fans. One group gathered in front of the screen dancing and screaming in adoration during the last four songs. It was a real hoot.
I went to the theatre to see this also and loved it, but nearly shit myself when i bought my ticket. $12.50. We should have gotten some kind of souviner with that price.
@MrJHarper67 yea, saw it tonite in Dallas with maybe 4 people, as i expected...
no real publicity in advance for this and previous gigs like this don't attract an audience..in my part of the world...but killer show(saw the 69 and 72 tours..
just saw this film at the theater. whooo man was it fuckin awesome for a die hard stones fan like me to have been at this one night only event!!! just plain awesome to go to the movies to see the Rolling Stones on the big screen!!!
Saw it this evening. It is amazing. If you ever had any doubt (why would you?) that Mick Jagger is the ultimate rock star, then see this film and you will be convinced. It was stellar.
your organization is a disgrace. your poisonous tentacles span wide through yt. you've blocked performances of one of the most electrifying exhibitions of pure rock and roll ever captured by film or video. for this, you should burn in hell. the art created by the rolling stones is not yours to own. it is a gift from higher powers. you've got the contract that allows you to suffer the illusion of having proprietary rights, but your greed will prove to be your undoing. people notice scum like you.
Nobody could be better than the Beatles! *watches Ladies & Gentlemen* who the fuck are the Beatles?

@Pagra101 Yes, Britain had two of the biggest (The Beatles and the Stones) rock bands, but not a monopoly on the best bands.

this is the point in the band's history when their performances became slick and perfunctory.

Great movie. Saw it in the theater last night. Loved the intensity.
One oddity - in Sweet Virginia, there was a mandolin being played at the beginning on the audio. Did someone just dub that in to beef up the sound?

@dugitomi what makes you think YOU have the right to watch those videos for FREE. Is it your performance? no it isn't.
There are some great performances on this film, but I can gladly wait to finally buy a good quality copy.
Do yourself a favour and go see the sept. screening of the film. Or wait for the bluray release in October.
Eagle rock has done wonders with older concert films. The Who's "kilburn 1977" bluray is a perfect example.
