It's nice when you find someone on YouTube who actually sounds good when they play something. :) I agree with charlessndanville: If Rush ever needs a backup...they should totally call you!!
Well if Neil Peart ever get's sick and unable to perform at a concert, you would make a prime candidate to fill that position! Professional Artists do watch You Tube occasionally, just like Journey's new front man got discovered! I love watching you play. I was a Professional drummer once until carpel tunnel affected both wrists. Maybe you can sit in at a concert one day, miracles do happen you know!
Amazing! I am 43 years old, I built a drum room in our brand new house, *(my wife is less then happy, fuck her) Rush and neil Peart and drums got me through so much shit. Now I have a drum room, I do not go in, a 12K drum set, I do not play, yet, do not start yelling, I own that room. It is my life dream, since I started playing drums at 10 years old. This guy playing in this video, made me figure out that, Neil peart is a god. Guy playing drums in video, just know. you will now, cut off.
Wow!! I'm no drummer, but I can appreciate the awesomeness of all your videos. Geddy and Alex should keep your number handy in case Neil ever gets sick on tour. Keep 'em coming!!

@TheFourthStooge98 Thank you. No, unfortunately, I have never used those cymbals. I've tried and stillown many different cymbals from many different companies but never tried trx. Sorry!
@TheFourthStooge98 Trx is really good, I would recommend them, I for instance don't own any but I have played on many sets that had a trx cymbal set up and I absolutely loved them! Their quality is rather phenomenal!
@TheFourthStooge98 Trx is really good, I would recommend them, I for instance don't own any but I have played on many sets that had a trx cymbal set up and I absolutely loved them! Their quality is rather
@drummer12371 well hes got the same cymbal setup as Peart does (Sabian Paragons) and the same drum setup. Although its not DW, Neil used to use Tama drums as well!
dude, from all the way "down under" here in SATX, you were SPOT ON! EH! have you seen his new Paragon Series that Sabian gave him, i managed to catch him on David Letterman-Drum Solo week, he had some wicked decorations bordering his edge of the cymbals... but definitely, you were SPOT ON covering that song, most blokes can't do it w/ease... take care brother of skins..., frankie in SATX
@Astrotama I normally dont make comments on such videos as there are too many people 'wastin time' however this was worthy enough for me to do it. I really appreciate watching people who are skilled at what they do and besides I like your comment and fully agree that Neil IS the master .. I wish I had more time to devote to drumming but always enjoy playing to my fave songs :)
Hey Astrotama just visited your channel, that's about the bulk of it these days if you wanna become a drummer first become a astro chemist making astro money, rather then starting with a garage band. I would like to see you do some "Kill the king" Cozy Powell ... I would like to see how you fare with that. Cozy Powell is one of my favorite drummers
Just recently found your channel... You are an amazing drummer dude. I found myself spending all my free time at work watching your vids!! Friday night, April 22 I'll be sitting in the audience at Rush's Baltimore Maryland show!!!! You've got me all pumped up!!!!!
Very good. Every good musician deserves good criticism and good praise. They deserve advise. Well, I have plenty of praise and no real criticism. But I do have advise. You don't do it EVERY time but I watch your knee and sometimes see you're not lifting your foot off the kick at the end of a hit, thus muffling your kick with your beater head. Most drummers are guilty of this; it's an awful habit. Just try to get in the habit of pulling your foot back after a kick each time. Again GREAT JOB!!
I can tell how much you are influenced by Neil in this performance. Your mannerisms are much like his. Awesome freakin job man. I am a 30 year Rush fan and started playing when I was 13. You are a credit to the instrument.
Unlike the original studio cut and the way Neil plays it now (same as you), its great to hear that extra snare shot at the finally in Limelight. TWO ONE ONE TWO as well.
since you have been playing for so many years, have you ever suffered from carpel tunnel or anything like that? i ask because i have playing drums and bass for a few years now and i feel occasional wrist pains. do you ever feel anything pain at all?
@eduardobadra Oh yes! In fact, I have to limit the hours I play because I might hurt too much. I do not have CT but I get inflamed wrists and shoulders. If I was playing more "relax" music, I would be ok but for Rush, I need to generate lots of power so some muscles are not too happy... The worse are my shoulders because I injured them long ago (playing baseball) and when reaching cymbals a far away (e.g. chinese), they can hurt. I need to warm up and stretch a lot and I don't do it enough... :(
@seanbalz I do spend quite a bit of time trying to tune the drums according to the song I play on the videos. I don't always succeed - Neil's drums sound very different across the years - but I try.
@bassblair11 You have to start with the big picture first: where is the hi-hat, where is the ride, then work out the details one by one. Sometimes it's just a very small part that you have to focus on. It might take hours and hours to figure it out. That's the magic of Neil's playing. And, then, you must sit down and play that stuff.... Good luck!
That was studio tight. How are you micing your kit for the videos? Not bad for what seems to be a full range mic. I hope you jam with a band-maybe a Rush tribute band?? Go for it- lost my drums many years ago and used to bash to Rush in my basement..nice kit too!
@curlysheepishbas I love Porcupine Tree! I know several songs from Deadwing although I have not practiced them in quite some time. Gavin Harrisson is a absolute monster. I saw them in concert in Montreal a while back. Quite fabulous.
Awesome as always Pierre. Are you going to be able to see the Time Machine Tour? Looks like the closest to you would be the New Mexico show June 29th.
