Just for a bit of fun I decided to video myself playing Mr Sandman played on my Telecaster. I have taught this at Aberdeen Uni and have told them that I took considerable inspiration from yourself! My version is slightly different but I hope you like it! tag "Andy Johnson Mr Sandman"

    Wonderful stuff Larry!

  • @frethouse I did check it out and you played the song beautifully ! Thanks for your kind comments !

    Larry

  • First cover of the song that wasn't on a gretch that I actually really enjoyed!

  • do you have the tab for this?

  • @wertaslopey8

Sorry, I don't read or use tab.

    Larry

  • @wertaslopey8

    Hi There,

I have made a notation/tab on sibelius 5 for my Uni students. I can email you the file if you wish you would have to open it on sibelius scorch.

I gleaned some ideas off Larrys wonderful playing here and have made my own little video. Tag - "Andy Johnson Mr Sandman"

  • @frethouse

Wish I could read tab but never took time for anything slower than "ear."

Thanks for supporting this song !

    Larry

  • @wertaslopey8 I just bought it off Amazon. 20 bucks for 12 Chet tunes. Can't beat it.

  • @cmoneypieces

Chet will always be number one with me.

    Larry

  • @naalar That's the truth. He's been a great inspiration to many guitar players, including you and me. I just started to learn this song. Hope I can play it as well as you.

    Keep up the impressive pickin'!!!!

    Larry

  • EPIC!

  • Beautiful.

Do you have the tab of the song?

My grandpa only knows how to shoot a rifle and fix airplanes...

  • Hi again Larry!

I have decided to transcribe this version of the tune in notation/tab for my guitar students as we all really like it. It will be done on a sibelius music notation programme and I would really like to mention your arrangement ideas. If you are OK with this can I have your surname to put on? I teach in Aberdeen University Scotland and I think you have a fan club mate!

    Thanks Andy

  • @frethouse

Yes, any legal attribution is fine. I am a Wright, probably of Scottish decent.

Thanks for your visit and kind comments.

    Larry

  • Larry you are amazing grandpa!

  • Hi lovely sound and great playing - is your guitar tuned down by a half step? I like the way you have adapted the piece so that it can be played solo.

  • @frethouse Thanks ! I always tune standard. May have slipped a tad...(-:

This is pretty much Chet's version.

    Larry

  • Son!! I really, really like your playing. I have only recently attempted to learn this song and bud, is it kicking my keester!!!! I am crawling right now. Maybe in a month ai can walk. Then in a few months I can run (and play it at my gigs). THEN..maybe SOMEDAY...I can fly...and play like LARRY. Thanks so very much form making me smile! Been playing 30 years but have only recently attempted Chet. Again...thanks so much for taking the time to share with us.

  • @nitroman8669

Thanks very much ! Personally, I don't think anyone has topped the

master, Chet Atkins ! But....you are very kind.

  • @guitarslim56

    It's an optical illusion...(-:

  • @guitarslim56 yah his guitar cable goes to amp and the cable in the wall is the power cable of the amp :D
