take you spark plugs out and drop a long screwdriver or rod to the top of pistons and check for any fluid on it when you pull it out. If you see oil or antifreeze on it then you have got a blown gasket or crack in the block or head, just hope its a gasket though!. Good luck.
all old cars do that when first started but if its always there then yes its the cylinder gasket(head gasket) that has a small crack on it letting a little bit of water in, you might be able to use (steel seal) its a liquid that go's in your rad, its on ebay, thats the cheap way out! but works!! check the oil and water, if the oil is milky its 2 late, but i dont think it is looking at that.
its not gone ya wudnt c yourself wit smoke if it was

if it over heats while driving then yeah, if not then it might even be a loose piston ring which also leads to switching out the head gasket also
