However, accepting a person does not require accepting a behavior. A good mother loves her child but does not tolerate when her child steals.

God IS merciful. He forgives us when we acknowledge what we've done and ask for his forgiveness. Any good parent has rules and boundaries for their children that teach them how to live good, moral lives. God THE FATHER, of course, gives us moral codes we should live by. I figure it's a combination. I think there's often a genetic predisposition combined with an aggravating factor that causes the disorders. I think often homosexuality is also a genetic predisposition combined with an aggravating factor. (something I observed from experience) Of course there's always a few outliers that don't always fit the mold, but I guess that's the beauty of all the variation among us.

i dunno wat the bible says, there are just so many interpretations that this topic cud carry on and on but anyways, acc to statastics, AIDS is more common among homosexuals (males specially) so i ges tht shud be dealt wid more carefully, i'm not saying dnt have sex at all, just be carefull thts ol :)

I am not against people who are attracted to the same gender. I love my brother, and he's gay. My friend from college is gay. The bible doesn't say "if you're attracted to the same gender, you're going to hell." It does, however, say don't have sex with someone of the same gender. It also says don't have sex outside of marriage (even if you're heterosexual). It's not the attraction that's the problem; it's the promiscuity. People of any sexual orientation sleeping around is what's spreading AIDS

We're getting way off subject here, but I must add that the bible does NOT say "dont have sex with the same gender". There are many different interpretations of the bible, most of which echoed the beliefs at the time of the translation and of those who commissioned the translation. It is believed most of those passages could have been misinterpreted many times over.

Leviticus is a big source of teachings on how to properly conduct one's self. Chapter 20, verses 9-21 has a list of sexual sins (including heterosexual sins) mostly punishable by death. Verse 13 says specifically, "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." Who knows, maybe AIDS WAS around back then.

Leviticus does not say "homosexuals are going to hell" It does not say you will be smote for attraction to the same gender. It merely says don't have sex with them. Likewise, it doesn't say you will be smote for being attracted to your uncle's wife, but you're still not allowed to have sex with her. I am in no way justifying prejudice or discrimination. However, accepting a person does not require accepting a behavior. A good mother loves her child but does not tolerate when her child steals.

Thanks for the info. Though it sounds more to me of human words, than of the immensibly merciful God Christian people always talk about. I believe in God but it's hard to believe such words. Anyways, there is something weird here. What about a woman who lies with a female as with a men. It's not written there! So many inconsistencies.

God IS merciful. He forgives us when we acknowledge what we've done and ask for his forgiveness. Any good parent has rules and boundaries for their children that teach them how to live good, moral lives. God THE FATHER, of course, gives us moral codes we should live by. Some people only keep from doing the wrong thing b/c they fear the consequences, so conveniently consequences were also provided there. Just like society provides rules & consequences. "I won't steal b/c I don't want jail-time."

I figure it's a combination. I think there's often a genetic predisposition combined with an aggravating factor that causes the disorders. I think often homosexuality is also a genetic predisposition combined with an aggravating factor. (something I observed from experience) Of course there's always a few outliers that don't always fit the mold, but I guess that's the beauty of all the variation among us.

ya sorry i can see how my choice of words can get mixed up but i didn't mean to lump the two together to make it seem like homosexuality was a disorder. I was commenting on Dudeyowuzup's comment about schizophrenia, bi-polar etc. cus studies show genetics aren't always the result of those disorders, there are many factors that can cause them such as extreme stress or a life-changing situation (i.e. the loss of a child, a tragic death etc,)
