The original supervisor was played by Gregory Sierra (of Barney Miller fame) and was killed on duty after the first couple episides. Castillo showed up shortly thereafter. After Crockett & Tubbs were already partners.
I could see everyone from vice still in action too, Thomas, Johnson, Olmos, and Talbot are almost ageless with possible exception of hair. I can imagine tubbs and Crockett, maybe updating their wardrobe and driving around in a brand new, white 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia, and Switeck in a turqoise 2003 Thunderbird.
@jgjklhlgkbmbkjkjbfsg im sure michael mann could come up with something do a one off special or something. IF YOU ARE READING THIS MIACHAEL MANN PLEASE PLEASE COME UP WITH SOMETHING RELATING TO THE SHOW .
He's trying to kill off that character so he can't be asked to play him again. Castillo was always such an enigmatic character, I believe that he could support his own spin- off & get into HOW Castillo became Lt for MV- ..just end the series with being assigned to MV & getting these new guys Crockett & Tubbs (not yet partners). You can get at least two seasons' worth of ratings off that...
@MarcusDarling4026 i think crockett and tubbs were already partners when he showed up. the original lt was killed in the first few episodes, and they started their partnership in the pilot
The bottom line is that Don Johnson will never work with Thomas again. I mean, DJ won't even talk about it during interviews for crying out load. And considering that he is mega-rich from Nash Bridges, I doubt that will ever change. Sad, but true.
@cabrone05 I've always said they should do this (develop an MV made-for-TV movie). So far I've never heard even a hint about this ever happening though :(
Take a moment for Lt. Martin Castillo, for he did for us in every episode of Miami Vice with his skinny tie, furry mustache, and that trademark cold hard stare.

As manager, I always tried to act more like Lt Castillo. Unfortunately, I looked more like Switek.

Lt. Castillo, one of the most fierce, honorable and strong characters of TV. Eddie Olmos is a true role model.
