  • How do you know your flight nearly did the same thing? Were you in the cockpit? I assume you were not outside to view how close your flight was to doing this since you called it "your flight".

  • @JJ600RR

Yes I was in the cockpit with Tom Cruise. He was the pilot. I was just the hostess.Well just dressed as one anyway cause I like to dress up in womens clothing.

We knew how close it was cause we had a trained monkey who owned a tape measure and he confirmed it was close! Yes sorry I lied. The monkey owned the flight. You caught me out!

Bet thats not the response you hoped for LOL !!

  • @bullatthegate if by dumb and nonsensical, then no, i did not expect that kind of response.

  • "In the event of a water landing..."

  • what? is a perfect landing

  • The livery looks a fair bit like American Airlines...

  • we have to go back!

  • December 24, 2000 9:55 (GMT) DC 10 AA Landing halfway down the runway, in a storm. Wet runway and crosswind Map of the runway in possession of the pilot indicated a length of 200 meters higher than reality (card not updated)

    Plane removed the next day

  • ooops!

  • Wow

  • brilliant pilot, they might be sleeping while landing the plane

  • DC-10!!!!

  • 1 person was the pilot

  • Omg is that water ok?

  • @MrMcTonTon your hilarious

  • Naaa, they only wanted to give the plane a little wash

  • Did Toyoya make the accelerator?

  • yea thats close enough. hand me my fishing rod.

  • Wow. We were on this aircraft in July, 2000 as it flew a charter for Renaissance Cruise Lines (now sadly out of business) from LAX to Papeete. We landed after dark, which would have made it even more dangerous. I didn't know this had happened just a few months later. Thanks for posting.

  • another hawaiian airways, dc-10 incident.

  • of course, the dc10 which has a troubled history

  • i hate seeing classics like this wrecked

  • poor little DC 10!!! :(

  • the aircraft is just drinking..

  • The pilot was ex Navy..!

  • i wonder how bad the plane smelled of shit and piss

  • Maybe it got over heated and needed to cool off it's engines or a plane wash :D

  • Damn, you got close! I'd've thought they'd've put buoys up or something. Good views, though.

  • @SenorSpode

The Gendarmes were telling me to move away but I pretended not to understand French!

  • @bullatthegate Good strategy!

  • @bullatthegate clever lad arnt ya now?

  • @SenorSpode I think this video is very old....the design of the logo and style of the plane is very OLD...I think this was taken way way way before 9/11 lol..

  • Sorry dramatyzedboi you still share it with Hawaiian, we didn't have any fatalities

  • In America DC-10 crashes you.

  • In America DC-10 crashes you.

  • When did this happened?

  • @TieInterceptorPilot

December 24th 2000 and it made a lot of noise as I think the engines must have been on full power reverse thrust when it sucked in a pilon and wire.

  • Glad no one was really hurt....But is ghis a land or water crash?

  • It's Hawaiian Airlines people! The pilot simply wanted to go to the beach like everyone else in Hawaii

  • You can't get a better vacation flight I mean right to the dam beach.

  • Notice the lack of thrust reverse on the engine? Pretty hard to stop a bird that size without it.

  • @pacificbound67 MAYBE THE REVERSE THRUSTERS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ALSO THE PERSON WHO UPLOADED THIS VIDEO SAID THERE WAS A STORM THAT DAY. DEFINETELY NOT A GOOD COMBO!

  • @tleque Good point. Rain slicked runways and a failure would be a bad situation for any aircraft.

  • christ! =O

  • It just drink! What's the problem?

  • At least it's not another stupid video of somebody's flight sim game.

  • thumbs up if it looked like AA from the suggestion videos

  • Nah... she's just taking a bath.

  • Was this plane a write off?

  • That same thing happened to an Air France 747 a long time ago

  • @SkateGeek27

Yes your correct. The RHS engine went into full power on landing and drove the aircraft into the sea.

  • @bullatthegate It also happened to a SAS DC-10 a while back too. Its like Deja Vu because the airplane that was shot in this footage is also a DC-10

  • @AirCanada04

I think they are cursed. One Air NZ crashed in Antarctica on Mt Eurebus on the 28 November 1979 killing all. They are still there.Another from Hawaii to Australia had a catastrophic failure of the outer airframe and sucked out passengers, fortunately landed safely.Numerous other failures also.

  • @bullatthegate Of course, the most unreliable plane ever. In France, a Turkish DC-10 crashed because the baggage compartment door blew out.

  • I remember when this happened!! this is faa'a airport in Tahiti. No one one was seriously hurt though :)

  • Can i have that if you Hawaiian's not gonna use it? ;) Love the DC-10

  • I thought it was a AA plane.

  • same thing happened to me on an argentinian airline in Miami years ago...747 hit the brakes soo hard...crazy!

  • I thought they retired those in 1994,

  • THE NEW BOATING -777

  • @adr712 LOL whats a boating 777?

  • @xTomcatsForeverVF84x it´s like ¨boeing 777¨ ... but for the water version is ¨Boating 777¨ .. LOL

  • I LOVE ITS LAbel)))

  • "dammit Jacob, I said go up"

  • silly

  • could be worse : )

  • is that plane a l-1011 or a dc-10?

  • what year was this?

  • @yoyoyoyoshua

    December 2000

  • @737boeing8 ok. when was the DC-10 fleet retired?

  • @yoyoyoyoshua

    2003

  • @yoyoyoyoshua Actually, that was back in late-90s. When entire DC-10 is retired. Hawaiian is replacement the 767-300ER aircraft.

  • @ScottysAIr Ah ok thanks

  • thirsty plane

  • When/where did this happen?

  • @nwadoug All you need to do is copy the info in the description and paste it on a website called google which is a very useful search engine that can get any info you need.

  • DC-10 LMAO

  • Stupid French building small runways lolz...

  • @22871987 I think the length of the runway is OK but the pilot landed halfway up due to the storm.

  • @bullatthegate maybee they put too much fuel on the plane to make it very heavy to land, they should either put just enough fuel to make it to their destination or dump some fuel before landing.

  • @22871987 Stupid Americans saying unintelligent comments... yet id doesnt surprise me.

The runway is 3240 m (10629 feet) long. That is not a small runway chump.

  • one huge minor injury you mean.

  • It was pilot error in a very heavy tropical downpour and very strong winds. Our plane came very close to doing the same thing. We only just stopped in time and had to back up to turn..

  • why did it run off the runway?

  • This is what happens when you leave your dc-10 in a bad neighborhood.

  • @kaomoodang this was due to bad weather...

  • now im scared to go to maui pray for me!~

  • This aircraft hasn't been in service since the 1990's then Hawaiian Airlines discontinued using the DC-10's ever since they started using the 767 aircraft.

  • How long ago was this? The video is pretty good quality, but that DC-10 is in Hawaiian's old livery. Not to mention Hawaiian does not fly DC-10s anymore.

  • @atrevproduction It was 24th December 2000.The camera was a Sony DCR -PC100E a great little camera and still is !

  • WOW! I hope no one was hurt!

  • Old livery in 2010 weird!!!

  • Although it was an accident and I should make fun for it, there were still some fun fact.

For the holiday maker, they can jump to the sea directly from the plane, and enjoy Hawaii straight forwardly.

    What do you think?

  • That's an old air craft. I didn't know Hawaiian still had them around?!

  • @jorasave Dude, they're over Tahiti. Where would you suggest they divert...

  • poor plane, it needs to drink some water!

  • @z370Toronto ROFL! epic comment!

  • @Tarn1968 how is it fake?

  • This plane leased for American Airlines in this time ti Hawaiian Airlines.

  • landings and take off's shouldn't be allowed in such storm conditions even the best skill pilot can fail against the nature power

  • @jorasave Dude, they're over Tahiti. Where would you suggest they divert to?

  • @SDNR199 no I did´t meant to divert fligths just wait the best meteorogical conditions to take off and land I don´t think thera are always storms in Tahiti.

  • @jorasave There is usually rain somewhere on the island. They can divert to either Mururoa Atoll or to the Cook Is.and it does happen sometimes.

  • Was this aircraft repaired or scrapped?

  • @chazflyz

They retrieved it and flew it out.Don't know what happened after that.

  • I remember reading up on this, Didn't this DC10 skid off the runway at Faa'a International?

  • @kalanike

Yes thats right it was at Faaa. The pilot landed half way up the runway,at night in a bad storm and couldn't stop in time.My plane was the one before it and nearly did the same thing.Scary !!

  • @bullatthegate that must of sucked

  • @troyh808 LOL Yep !!

  • "I accidently the plane." -Mr Pilot.

  • shouldnt they be flying the 767 like how they do for mainland flights?

  • @kidBoSSeZ this happened back in 2000 before the 767s were procured..

  • wow i dont know that happen to hawaiian airlines crash!

  • Oops!

  • Very good aallenebs it was Dec 24th 2000.

  • this must have been in the late 90's early 2000's

  • Sorry, "yes" it happened a long time ago, not that 717s can take off without flaps in Honolulu (I don't know).

  • Yes. IIRC, this happened in December 2000. I knew someone who was visiting Tahiti at the time.

  • Wow. I just wanted to know, is it possible for a B-717 to take off without flaps in Honolulu?

  • @coolpixer NO,no less than 5 degs. for take off

  • THIS WAS A LONG LONG TIME AGO

  • dc-10 if im not mistaken

  • Yes thats correct

  • @EGIPredator dc-10 or md-11

  • OMG......I remeber when this happen......I work for Hawaiian Air.....this is our only major accident.....We are still number 1 for Safety though.... : )

  • umm there are alot of other airlines out there that never had a crash or an emergency i dont see how an airline with a crash can still be rated number 1

  • No other airline has been around nearly as long as Hawaiian Airlines and had only 1 major accident...and this is far from major in comparison to other airlines. In fact , all other airlines with no fatalities are under 40 years in business as an airline. Hawaiian is in its 81st year.

  • ok but remember most of those other airlines that had major crashes like american airlines united airlines they heve hundreds of planes and even british airways they have hundres of planes and the latest accident BA had was that crash landing at heathrow and its been a long time sice they had one before that. hawaiian on the other hand have less that 40 airplanes right now so you do the math.

  • The only math that matters is the number of fatalities in which Hawaiian has none. Instead of thinking this is a math lesson, maybe you can just recognize the fact that zero fatalities and 1 major (if you want to call it that) accident in 81 years of service is very impressive.

  • @dramatyzedboi Um, no there not. There are a few of airlines that have had no injuries or deaths.

  • @dramatyzedboi sorry Qantas has the best safety record across the world.
