Hate to bring bad news but total texas population about 24 million. Total TNM members 250,000 got a long way to go. If texas did succed im not sure we would get out the back door so to speak. Last time a state succeded we had a civil war. Do the math not happenin. No single state is declaring war on us. Thats what it would boil down to we would take with us what industry we have along with resorces. No president would allow a cash cow to walk out the door.

@KMFS2008: Technically, the president can't stop it...Retaining the right to choose whether to stay or leave the union was one of the conditions set forth when Texas joined the union. This option is guaranteed to all of the states in the 10th amendment as well.

Also remember, the War of Northern Aggression was brought about by the feds when the states in the South chose to exercise their rights under the 10th amendment. The possibility of an new uprising exists anyway, secession or not.

deltahotel17-I joined TNM during the Bush Jr. administration because of Republican policies. (Wall Street Bailout). I don't care for Obama or his policies but prefer him to Bush as the lesser of two evils. I wrote in Ron Paul in the last election. At this point, I don't see anything that the U.S. is doing for us that we couldn't do better for ourselves. I'm concerned that the U.S. is robbing Texas of her wealth to support failed policies in other states. I hope that answers your question.
