On the DMC talk webpage there is someone who susposedly bought the Delorean used in the movie. I saw a picture of it and it needs a lot of attention. It's an 81 with an automatic and bad rims. The Fiero probably was a 5 speed that's probably why it won. If you look real close though it didn't win by much. A 5 speed Delorean would of faired better.

I think a lot of it too is the DeLorean is heavy and also underpowered. All it had was a 2.8 Liter V6. When you have that much weight and that little power, the car is just a snail.

They didn't come that way stock, they had to be painted afterwards. It was a high maintenance task too, because the paint would just peel right off of stainless steel, so they had to have some kind of special treatment to have them painted. Looks good though!
