same thing man! well for the bottom 4 strings but once you get up to the g ur only strings left to power chord with are b and e then use the same pwer chord shape , just one fret up on the b and e. for example: a power chord on A would be A:0,D:2, G:2 but a power shord on G would be G:0, B:3 and E:3get it? i hope so hahahha due just think of it like the guitar is the modern human, small compat and complex, and the bass is the caveman larger longer stronger(tone) and less complicated string wise

and, to add to what clappingfish said, you dont see guitarists play notes while the other guitarist does it in an octave lower/higher often. most bands will use harmony's wich is quite often a difference of 3 steps(1 string)

When I saw them at unholy alliance they both used their seven strings and six strings, changing between them between songs.. For example they would use their six strings for songs like rain and like light to flies but their seven strings for shogun and crusade stuff...

Anyway, great fuckin song/album.I dont really like Ascendancy (its just an average metalcore album) and i havent heard much of the Crusade (but ivcve heard it sucks) but Shogun is a masterpeice.The ONLY flaw i can find in it is that Cory and Matt use the same scale for alot of the solos on the album.

you know how they used to tune down to drop d? well the low B on a 7 string still lets them keep the standard tuning they used in the crusade and ember to inferno but also gives them the low end to get that more lower end heavier tone. yeah in a nutshell lolz
