Guys.. i was watching this movie with my roomates for hour and a half.... what is this movie about? i just remember some dog running with box wich is worse than cats on a leash if u ask me.... seirously whats this movie about? O.o
This man, a Finn, I must say that this is a really good movie. but, however, if you want to learn more and to understand this movie, and supports you need to read the Finnish national epic Kalevala called.
I also liked this one very much. There wasn't that much of a fighting, but the little it had was made well. Besides I didn't really miss the fighting scenes, the story kept me interested enough, great job!Though I don't understand how some people say it was confusing, can't they really tell the difference between the ancient China and the modern day Finland?
Yeah, except that the two movies aren't alike in any way:p The only similarities are chinese and martial arts, which would also render pretty much all chinese movies made after Flying Daggers ripoffs of it. Have you even seen this movie?
i'm a huge fan of modern wuxia films (from "ashes of time" to "the banquet" to "house of flying daggers") and i discovered this movie accidentally. i was very impressed, i loved the blending of cultures, and thestory was very well written. the lack of a north american release is a shame, i had to buy a hong kong dvd.
this was so over hyped but the action scenes was awesome and visual effects was off the chart in that time and propably is most expensive film ever made in finland, btw that chinese chick is insanely hot.
"Listen. Iron wanted to be with fire, but fire burned it and iron fled to the swap. In the swamp, iron hid for a long time, so long that it forgot why it was born. Untill wolf ran by the swamp. Earth moved in its trails. From these trails, iron rose."
Quite good movie I'd say. Now I have seen the trailer. There's more in the movie than you see in the trailer. Some nice effects and some fighting scenes make it a bit more interesting to watch. I liked the plot.
This film isn't for those who seek only action, fights and spec. effects, it is deeper than that...
@Dannykorpyk Our language is an older European language than the Indo-European languages. Speakers of Indo-European languages came to Europe after the Finns. And they came from Asia: Southern Russia, Asia Minor, just north of India. Who knows exactly? But Finns were in there modern whereabouts - & some related nations east lived of them, beyond Urals - when the Indo-Europeans came in contact with them.
And the contacts have given loads of Indo-European words into Finnish. Languages always mix.
"Finns are Asian wannabe's much like the rest of europe."
No, above all east asians are White wannabes. You know you are ugly and we are beautiful; you know that without us your countries would never have developed beyond the medieval stage; you know you feel inferior, and you seek to feel less so by claiming Whites are "asian wannabes".
You have it the other way around little boy it was you whites who stole our inventions, our technology, and our history. We were the ones who invented gun powder. We were the ones that had the biggest as well as longest empire known to man including that of alexander.
China spawned more great philosophers and writers then all of europe combined. Sun TZu's art of war for example which even today western militaries take advice from. Your history books lie to you. Most of europes inventions were nothing but refined and improved rip offs you got from china and various other cultures.
