The M16 is a reliable rifle. In Vietnam they did not chrome line the barrel like the design called for and they used the wrong kind of powder. When they corrected those mistakes the M16 became a very reliable rifle. The M4 is unreliable because the gas tube is too short.

The 7.62x39 is bigger, than the 5.45x39, but it doesn't transfer as much energy, because it's a bigger slower bullet, that rips right through, the body, without tumbling, so the person is more likely going to survive. The 5.45 is smaller, but faster and it has a hollow part, in the tip, of the bullet, so it's gurantee to tumble. They often tumble at such an angle that a bullet, to the stomach will turn and come, through the top, of the head

Bullets can be any size for all I care long as it puts holes in what I'm aiming at and this gun was designed for close quarters combat so control doesn't really matter you can aim it just fine if you brace right and know how to shoot a full auto aim low because its going to kick
Actually, all rounds have an arch trajectory, so your statement about that round falling after 300m is false. The round actually starts dropping WAY before 300m. Now as far as a maximum effective range, the AKS-74U has sight adjustments for about 350 to I think about 500m.
This gun being replaced by the AK-105 that's a little longer than the AKS-74U but still compact enough and has the advantage that you can mount the GP-30 or GP-25 grenade launchers.

Yes it is well known that 7.62x39 is best but people often say that 5.56 is better because you can carry more.. That is funny because a solider that knows how to shoot doesn't need that much rounds :) 7.62 is a knockdown bullet. 5.56 can't knock out someone from feet if you hit him in torso.

That's not true, 5.56 has very good stopping power. 7.62x39 is better, but it's recoil in ak47's and other rifles make it highly inaccurate in fully automatic or sustained fire. My guess is you've never fired an AR15 or m16 and wouldn't know how much more accurate they are (although AK47 is still a great rifle).
6.8mm is a better round. Both the 7.62x39 and 6.8 have greater stopping power, but I doubt the US will ever adopt the 6.8 for any standard weapon. The only reason that they use the 5.56 is because the US had already undergone testing for the M16 and 5.56 round and had already adopted it. I doubt the US will ever adopt the 6.8 round because most countries already use the 5.56 round, unless they just use it for some other kind of wepon like an LMG. They are looking at using 308 though.

Believe me, best round for modern warfare is 5.56 because it hits real hard on the range where u can shoot accurately...An if u shoot on longer distance, u still have soldiers on the team who have the 7.62x51 or 54 on them. Believe me mate, u would never hit anything with 7.62x39 on 200m +...Of course its a great round. But not for AK...vz.58 shoots it much more accurately.

@peneltube a .22 caliber isnt the best warfare round. depends on what situation. cqb its good, but if the other ppl have body armor (read about the north hollywood shoot out. 2 men, 4 guns, and body armor and the 556's couldn't touch them.) but the 5.45 is a way better round. it tumbles more and thats why its called "poison bullet."
the 5.56 is flawed in any ways, it is a good round if you have a super long barrel, but it was designed as pest control round, and it wasnt developed to be an aeffective long range and hard htting roun, the 6.5 grendel, is probably a round that will replace the 5.56 completely, look it up on wikipedia and read how it performs

WTF is with people knocking this guy for safety? You CANNOT put an AK-pattern rifle on safe, then work the bolt to check the chamber for a round. Actually pick up a non-airsoft AK and try that.
After he ran it empty though, he should have removed the magazine and checked the chamber....all with the safety off, because it's physically impossible to do so with it on.
you cant chamber a round on the AK74 or 47 with the selector in safe cause it blocks the bolt carrier from retracting all the way, the gun has to be safety OFF to load lol @ you

Chambering a round would be better to say than "cocking a bullet" which makes no sense. Cocking is something you do with the hammer that engages the firing pin.

first off the m14 is a battle rifle not a sniper rifle. it can be made into a marksmen system but its not accurate enough. the ak is made for 200 yards and lower which is what 99.9% combat takes place. the 5.45 cartdrige for the ak74 was based and desiegned off of the 5.56nato round. it is very similer in ballistics. i have fired the 7.62x51(m14)7.62x39(ak47)5.45(ak74)5.56(ar15/m16/m4)
7.62x51=too much recoil,impossible to fire in auto, also only 20 rd mag

Yes it is well known that 7.62x39 is best but people often say that 5.56 is better because you can carry more.. That is funny because a solider that knows how to shoot doesn't need that much rounds :) 7.62 is a knockdown bullet. 5.56 can't knock out someone from feet if you hit him in torso.

well i want a tantel so bad but its in 5.45. i want a wasr 3 or russian made ak101 kit. but they get a litlle pricey and hard to find. i lpve the bakelite furniture and i love bake lite all together. i want a romy bakelite bayonet,bakelite furniture,bakelite pistol grip and i want a bakelite magazine. bakelite is great

That's not true, 5.56 has very good stopping power. 7.62x39 is better, but it's recoil in ak47's and other rifles make it highly inaccurate in fully automatic or sustained fire. My guess is you've never fired an AR15 or m16 and wouldn't know how much more accurate they are (although AK47 is still a great rifle).

6.8mm is a better round. Both the 7.62x39 and 6.8 have greater stopping power, but I doubt the US will ever adopt the 6.8 for any standard weapon. The only reason that they use the 5.56 is because the US had already undergone testing for the M16 and 5.56 round and had already adopted it. I doubt the US will ever adopt the 6.8 round because most countries already use the 5.56 round, unless they just use it for some other kind of wepon like an LMG. They are looking at using 308 though.

Believe me, best round for modern warfare is 5.56 because it hits real hard on the range where u can shoot accurately...An if u shoot on longer distance, u still have soldiers on the team who have the 7.62x51 or 54 on them. Believe me mate, u would never hit anything with 7.62x39 on 200m +...Of course its a great round. But not for AK...vz.58 shoots it much more accurately.

for what i need it for its fine, btw are you from the uk because me and my dad and his english friend came and he insisted on using a 243 eventhough he is 45. im 15 and use 7.62x39 and 7mm-08. idk why the brits like the smaller cals. maybey its because they can shoot a irishman without no one hearing it lol. wont work with 556 though. 556 is loud

@peneltube a .22 caliber isnt the best warfare round. depends on what situation. cqb its good, but if the other ppl have body armor (read about the north hollywood shoot out. 2 men, 4 guns, and body armor and the 556's couldn't touch them.) but the 5.45 is a way better round. it tumbles more and thats why its called "poison bullet."

the 5.56 is flawed in any ways, it is a good round if you have a super long barrel, but it was designed as pest control round, and it wasnt developed to be an aeffective long range and hard htting roun, the 6.5 grendel, is probably a round that will replace the 5.56 completely, look it up on wikipedia and read how it performs

Yes I knew that is a battle rifle saw on wiki. But it is most used as a sniper rifle in Iraq. 5.45 is much better did you saw video ? I fired from most Russian rifles but AK-47 and AK-74 are my favorite and I like Serbian versions of AK too :)

WTF is with people knocking this guy for safety? You CANNOT put an AK-pattern rifle on safe, then work the bolt to check the chamber for a round. Actually pick up a non-airsoft AK and try that.
After he ran it empty though, he should have removed the magazine and checked the chamber....all with the safety off, because it's physically impossible to do so with it on.

you cant chamber a round on the AK74 or 47 with the selector in safe cause it blocks the bolt carrier from retracting all the way, the gun has to be safety OFF to load lol @ you

Chambering a round would be better to say than "cocking a bullet" which makes no sense. Cocking is something you do with the hammer that engages the firing pin.
