  • Hello:) Good movie. I have a question. I bought a Honda Rebel CMX 250C and I do not know what was there, supplemented by oil. What I pour the oil? What is recommended? Overall, I will add that the bike will ride across Poland .. advise anyone? Thanks in advance. Yours:)

  • Thanks for the help. Great video : )

  • thanks first time here

  • Great video. I'll be getting myself a Honda Rebel very soon. A 1999 fixer-upper, so i'll have to learn along the way how to fix and maintain bikes. Thanks for the video, but a little word of advice. Motor oil bottles are shaped that way for a reason. The spout should be at the top when pouring, which allows for a smoother flow and less spillage. Keep the great vids coming!

  • I'm interested in buying a honda rebel and I was wondering if you could do a quick review?

  • i was clueless, gana do it myself now, thank your for teh vid

  • Thanks man! I just bought a 2007, and it's time for my first oil change. This is a sweet beginners reference.

  • Thank you for taking the time to show us how it's done, great video. I am a woman, and I rather do it myself if I can, unfortunately info isn't always available. This is going to make my life a little easier from time to time. Very cool man, much thanks. My only advise is to speak a little louder, @ times it's hard to understand what you say because you speak soft. Where is the fuel screen your referring to that needs to be cleaned every 12-15k and can be done with a toothbrush? Thanks Nicole

  • thanks for both of the videos man you've helped me alot b-cuz i allways wondered were the f%%k is the filter but now i know there is a screen but thanks again :)

  • 好,感受谢

  • Listen close to the video. I put a bit too much oil and then I got an oil leak that lasted for close to a year. I would measure it on the dipstick but it seemed to measure ok though at its very maximum. Any higher and I would have emptied it some out. I can't find my manual but it's supposed to be 1.7 quarts. I have a 2000. Even if they're almost all the same, can someone please confirm the amount for a 2000 Rebel, please?

  • cool...i'm interested in getting a Rebel 250...i just have a little concern, i'm 6 feet tall and 250 lbs....i'm a heavier built guy but my main concern is is it comfortable?

and to me it looks like it can haul ass lol

  • @TheTman47 It'll handle your weight, but you'll have a cramped feeling. They have enough snap to them to get you into serious trouble. If you're looking to keep up with traffic on the interstate, then find a bigger bike. If you want to just cruise around and don't care about keeping up with the other traffic, then this bike is for you. They'll do 55 - 60 mph all day long. The rider will wear out before any well maintained bike will.

  • Great video. Definitely supplements the manual which has not-so-great pics.

    -Seattle, WA

  • Great video, very informative, THANKS.

    Just one question,

Exactly how often should the oil be changed?

  • Thanks for taking the time for doing this. My Rebel 250 didn't come with a manual, and this saves me a trip to the bike shop. I've had my bike for 2 1/2 years (bought it new) and have 2400 miles on it. I live in Key West, Fl. and ride it to work 1 1/2 miles one way... and sometimes take it up to Mile Marker 50 to open it up. Thanks again.

  • I reccommend using a large measuring cup to measure out your oil

  • Great job showing the process brotherman... appreciate it... good job! makes it easy!

  • ...thnx for the advice and guide. It helps a lot man. I have a question or better a suggestion would you tell us we Rebel 250 users how to clean the spark plugs and how many miles often?

    Regards.

  • Gud job

  • thank you

  • yeah! i did it, woohoo!

  • thanks for this, i have to change the oil in my 2010 rebel tomorrow. its about 260 miles over due...ooops.

  • Thanks!!! Helps a lot

  • Nice one! Happy riding. I have been thinking about getting a honda 250 for commuting to work. I think the savings would be incredible. Do you get 80mpg? I live in Hawaii and in a place where it does not rain that much. I think its a good idea. What do you riders out there think?

  • Is this the same for all Honda Rebels? Measurements and type of oil? I have a 2008. Thanks for making this video. I was clueless on how to do this :)

  • nice vid. Ive been changing the oil on my car forever. I just got my first 85 rebel 250 and Im loving it. I am about to go an change my oil in it and I just wanted to make sure I was going to do it right. Good vid again, Thanks.

  • Nice video. Good Job!

  • cool vids dude... helped alot, especially not having to mess with the oil screen for 12-15k. The pinstripes are sweet too.Are they tribals? You have maximized that little bike.

  • Great vid. I change the oil on my truck myself, so as I look to purchase a bike, I like the idea of it being a simple job. Thanks!

  • Tnx bro!

    enjoy in ride.

  • Thanks! good video

  • again good lesson BUT next time wear rubber gloves, have mechanic rags and NOT in dirty/dusty/sandy conditions we don't need sand in the oil. cheers : ]

  • one day : ]

  • There s/b a fifth star for ratings - Outstanding! I'm looking forward to viewing your other How-To videos for this Honda Rebel 250.

  • Thank you. I bought my rebel last spring and this will be my first winter with it. I am taking care of it myself an am having fun learning. Thanks again.

  • thanks you saved me 170$ thats what thr dealer was going to charge me

  • Thanks, I watched

  • how do you know when you need an oil change?

  • mileage. you need to make notes somewhere when you change the oil. if you don't know, then change the oil. engines like good oil :)

  • Thanks for angling the camera up so we could see the oil drain plug. It is hidden very well. Could you do a vid on how to clean the oil filter screen?

  • Thanks a lot man. I've got an '85 and it's in shit condition. Yours is all shiny and new. My biggest complaint with the Rebel is the god awful looking turn signals and how crappy they're designed in connecting to the bike.

  • Nice video! Informative and to the point, makes changing oil simple and saves a bundle.

  • what about the oil filter?

  • Thanks!! Took me Rebel to the shop first time around to have a full maintance done, but like doing my own work too.... Next Day off the "Gerebel mobile" gets an oil change !!!!

  • My wife just bought a used Rebel and, for the life of me, I couldn't find the drain plug until I watched this. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

  • This will work for the 2008 model right? Im assuming it does but i want to double check.

And what is everyones opinion on having the 600 mile maintanace done? Is it neccesary for paying $150?

  • Thanks for making the video! Its very helpful!

  • Thanks for the help.

  • Great video, could you please make a video on how to clean the screen?

  • honestly, thanks dooder!!

just finished and yup you rockzord my sockzors off!

    -LW Ontario Canada

  • Awesome! Thanks so much.

  • I can not thank you enough for taking the time to post this video. After riding on the back of my boyfriend's bike, I knew it wouldn't be long before I had to have a bike of my own. I am a 5' female and the Rebel is the only bike I could think of that would be small enough, but with enough power. I knew absolutely nothing about the mechanics of the bike and it did not come with a service manual.

  • Thank you so much! The oil change video was very helpful. I changed my oil and it was a breeze thanks to you! Have a great ride!

  • I saw no reference to an oil filter. Can you explain?

  • The Honda Rebel 250 does not have an oil filter. It has an oil screen. The screen will need cleaned roughly every 12-15k miles.

  • This is an excellent video to show us how to change the oil. I am a 48 year old woman and am so happy I saw this because now I will be doing it myself!

  • Thanks for sharing your knowledge on how to change oil in a 250cc Honda Rebel. I really appreciate the detailed video and the effort you made to do this for eveyone's benefit! Again, thanks for your help! Hank

  • Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge for changing oil in a 250cc Honda Rebel! Your video was very informative and helpful to me as a do-it-yourselfer too! Again thanks for your help! Hank

  • wow, thank you for this and passing on your knowledge to the general public to save some dough! One question though, and it's probably stupid but I have no idea, what do you do with the drained oil and the drainage pan?

  • dump the oil into into the nearest wildlife reserve creek or pour it on your neighbor's lawn.

  • Excellent! After watching your video I had no problem changing the oil on my Rebel 250.

Now - I'd love to see you do a valve adjustment!!

  • Niiice man, I just got a new honda rebel a little over 3 weeks ago, im almost at 600 miles, so i will probably change my oil tomorrow, thank you man, and i will let you know how it goes!

  • Awesome video! Fixing to get me a honda rebel and will definitely be coming back to this video when changing my oil. Again awesome job with your video and thanks for sharing it.

  • Hey...thanks so much for this video! I just bought my Rebel this past February (used) and need to know how to do as much maintenance on it myself as possible as I have no owners manual and need to save cash as well. Good job and thanks again!

  • if you want to do as much maintenance as you can - be sure to get a repair/maintenance manual. it will help if you are familiar with mechanic works, but if ur not, then it is mainly the only way you can do the things right.

  • Thanks a ton - you're awesome!

  • Hey man you are the greatest i almost paid 60 bucks today to the dealer till i found you online. you saved me even more money so i only paid 8 bucks for the oil, 2 for funnel, 3 for drain pan knowledge gained priceless. thanks man.

    infntry69

  • Thanks. I'll be changing my oil for the first time soon. How often should you change it? I just passed 1,000 miles.

  • It is of popular opinion that you should do your first oil change now at 1,000 mi. New engines tend to have metal filings/shavings circulating around. So you should do it now. Then every 3,000mi thereafter.

  • Thanks!

  • Videos are a big help! I don't know "jack" about working on a bike. They will come in handy, as I just got a great used 07' Rebel 250 today (5-16-08). Thanks

  • Where the hell is the filter? Actually its inside the case. Its messy chaging it but compare to the hassles youll have to encounter over the coming years if you fix your own bike.. its nothing.

  • The rebel 250 does not have a filter. It has an oil screen, you can get it clean with just a toothbrush but you only have to do it every 12-15k miles.

  • awesome job man. i thought u were a mechanic until u said you were not. lol

  • Thanks for the compliment. :)

  • great vid very helpfull

  • Thanks, great video.

  • OMG that was awesome THANK YOU :D

  • Thank you for this.....it really helped. I appreciate you taking the time to do this!

  • if replacing the gasket on the left side engine cover would hi-temp silicone work??? please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!dont know much about bikes and i wana get back on my little mighty 250

  • kinda late answer :), but yes, hi temp silicone works great. just clean the mating surfaces and apply thin, even coat. i'm applying it with my finger. cant do it another way good enough.

  • Mate you're a champion.

    Nice concise practical tips.

I'll be checking out your other work as soon as possible and am hanging out for more.

    cheers

  • This was an excellent video. You are having too much fun. That is nice to see. Do you have any more instructional videos for the rebel250? Like how to adjust the rear brakes, front brake replacement, etc? This would be great to see. Changing the front brakes was quite a challenge for me, but was educational. Thanks again fo making it simple.

    Lisa- Rebel250

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It was a great help. Duke from rebel250 recommended you.

  • Great stuff!! Thanks for doing this! Got my oil changed in about a hour for only the cost of oil (~$10) thanks to you.

  • you forgot to mention how often you have to change your oil, also would you be able to do a guide on how to change you fork oil & lob you'r chains, ty for the awsome guide, helps me alot even though i have a cbr250rr sports bike

  • thanks for the illustration dude. i have a johnny pag 250 spyder and will be doing my first oil change. so, this definitely helps me out.

  • great! thanks.

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to shoot your video. It helped out greatly. I may have missed it in your "lecture", but I can't remember hearing about the "no filter" part... it's my first time changing the oil myself, so it's helpful to know. Thanks again for your efforts.

  • I was outside trying to find that stupid screw. I came in because I thought that maybe I could find a website with how to change a motorcycle's oil. Maybe I'd find some pictures...LOW AND BEHOLD, may savior. You even have a video on how to lube the chain. You, sir, are my savior. Good show.

  • HAHA sorry I didn't read the below paragraphs I see NO filter thanx.

  • Thank you very much I just got my first bike and its a rebel, and i hate taking my vehicles to the mechanic.

Is there an oil filter on rebels?

  • Nice video m8. Does this apply for my Honda Rebel CA 125 to? Thanx:)

  • thanks

  • Very helpful thanks!

  • very interesting.... i have a chinese motorcycle 250cc too, is very similar to the honda rebel! in my country to have a honda, suzuki, yamaha... you have to be very rich.. but who knows maybe one day i will be able to have a cbr

  • what did you do with the old oil?

  • It gets drained into a milk gallon jug and marked with OIL on it and put out at the street. The city trash takes care of it from there.

  • Great video. My wife just bought a Rebel 250 and we wanted to do the oil on it before riding. I didn't know that it doesn't have an oil filter - funny, the guy at Kragen sold me one! Oh well, I guess I'm out the $4 for the filter, but saved $30 by watching your video. Thanks!

  • cool video. Thanks...

  • The audio on that camera is awesome! I was amazed at the background noises that came through while you were recording.

  • So the Rebel doesn't have a oil filter to change interesting

  • It has an oil screen that will need cleaned every 12,000 miles. It doesn't have an actual oil filter though.
