@ NotSoHeavyKevy android is not a bunch of buttons, it has widgets, unlike the iPhone. iPhones UI is not bad but androids, in my opinion, is better. Android is a completely new idea and is hardly a copy off of anything else. And iphone honestly wasn't revolutionary, many smartphones that were not as well known had qualities equal to the iPhone before it came out.
I think this is a good thing for Google.. I've had the G1 and upgraded to a mytouch recently and now am angry cause they came out with this.. Not just cause its an android.. but this time it's REALLY and Android.. No one making the rules for the phone.. Their own phone.. I mean I love the Iphone to death, but damn! why didn't Apple do this too? Smart move for google.
Not sure why Google is charging a ETF in addition to carrier ETF .... though this won't be an issue if you're happy with your service. Still, a little bothersome. Nexus One's features hands down beat iPhone, but I think iPhone just has more polish in the end. I like the feel of the iPhone OS and I really don't like TMobile either. AT&T isn't the best but...
I think this review was quite good, it gave a different angle to the nexus one and who they are aiming this at. I personally have an Iphone 3gs that is jail broken, I also had an Iphone 3g. I can't see anything that would move me away from the iphone at the moment. I was expecting more from the "google phone", but I have been disappointed. The only good thing I can see is the removable battery and memory which is positive, but I wouldn't move across to a HTC phone any time soon.
every phone that comes out will always be 2 steps behind the iphone. im more than sure that apple will come out with another i phone better than the google nexus or any other phone. i phone was the seed of touch screen phones. when other developers are figuring out how to attack the iphone apple already has a counter attack. just look, when the 1st iphone came out all these other phones came out n what did apple do just upgraded the i phone to 3g n problem solved. but of course there is hatters.
@KCgonewild i would never buy an iphone as long as there is no customizable home screen. iI hate having to look at different small buttons to find out if i have mail, new calls etc. I want to see appointments together with current time and date, weather, battery power, phone state etc on one screen, like with mobile shell on winmo. iphone rules only because of its apps. the ui is bad and only consisting of more or less randomly placed buttons. my next phone wil be android.
wow, you're all wrong. bad UI? seriously. the phone that revolutionized smart phones, has a bad ui? And in case you've not used or seen a nexus one, there's just a bunch of icons too. Windows Mobile was a terrible, terrible, os. Shouldn't really be dissing a phone that most of the nexus one's features are borrowed from. Even the box it comes in is copied. Probably a shot @ Apple.
Here are the "Wow" specs for the Nexus 1Ghz processor vs 600Mhz of the Iphone Removable Battery 3.7" screen vs 3.5" of the Iphone 2 Mic Noice cancellation front and back Up to 32G sd card 5MP camera vs 3MP on Iphone Camera can zoom and flash 720x480 video record vs 640x480 customizable home screens with widgets Iphone "wow" spec Multi touch Unlimited screens vs 5 home screens 100k apps vs android 16k apps
I have an iphone and the nexus one although you have to pay for 32gb memory card is altogether a lot cheeper to use with so much more than any iphone currently on the market.
Both of these phones max out at 32gb. lets see what apple has in store for this year iphone wise
i think the big "wow" that you are looking for and would def sway me into buying the google phone vs the iphone is the removable battery and memory! that is something that apple has yet to show...
I barely even use half of the 16gb I have on the iPhone as it is and why in the world would I need a removable battery? I use my iPhone moderate to heavy each and every day, battery is at 35-50% at night.
I've had the latest iPhone since it came out. Battery still performs just as well as the day I got it. I have several different iPods, 2 iPhones and so on, not one of them has had a battery replaced.
Odds are you'll change your device for a new one long before your battery dies. All this bulkiness and necessity to carry around an extra battery is pretty stupid in my opinion.
I think your wrong about the price in which Google are selling this. Clearly you haven't seen the true specs, iPhone 3Gs 600Mhz processor with 256mb of RAM. Nexus 1Ghz with 512Mb... It's almost a netbook in that tiny thing...
Compromising on the camera still (only 3.2MP), the iPhone 4G concept could have a camera on the front for iChat and house a removable battery and 32GB capacity is it an iPhone in the making or a MacBook? Its got Jesus Diaz thinking too, perhaps a reason he puts it as a MacBook in a Phone
There is no stopping the iPhone cult, perhaps the biggest ever in handsets or even electronics for an extension. After the iPhone 3G, its coming of the iPhone 4G, which if is anything like whats revealed as a concept image, could be a revelation we havent even guessed in the wildest of our fantasy. The concept is delivered in a titanium and glass finish, backed by an OLED screen, with 3G and GPS.
as long as the iphone is with AT&T those kind of specs wont mean anything because teir network won't be able to handle 4G concepts. It can barely handle 3GS concepts and speed.
I am an Iphone 3GS user and AT&T is a big draw back on what this phone can really do. If you were to speed up the iphone with similar specs to the google pone AT&T would crash over night.
I can't believe this drivel gets 5 stars. The problem with Youtube and the plethora of multimedia apps is that anyone can put forth uninformed opinions. I think it's funny how many damn cologne bottles this guy has on the shelf. Well, let's hope he smells better than his tech analysis...
Well, me being an Android fan, I really like the device so far, but I do need to test it out for myself. Of course, it's not up-to-par with the iPhone 3GS, but Android is gaining ground in the smartphone market, and it will only be a matter of time before Google and OHA develop a practically-flawless Android device that can compare with the iPhone.
Google have that advantage in that they own some of the biggest and powerful mediums at present. They are thus able to market their products appropriately, hence gain market share slightly quicker than other competitors. Its important for google to have a good software dev team to create a robust android platform at this stage.
Accepted your video, i also dont like the palm pre, i agree i think the nexus one makes a excellent alternative to other smart phones. i love the live wall paper feature on phone. great video
Cheers mate, I used the Palm Pre but didnt come across as 'friendly' to me as it should of. Still remember the day when I picked up the iPhone for the first time and was WOW'd by it.
it's to expensive, it will cost around 4,000 SEK which is around 400 U.S dollars... and + you have to get a subscription or something to a certain cellphone network here in sweden and it'll cost even more for that.

Nexus One DOES support multi-touch. But the out-of-the-box apps do not... for legal reasons. I'm sure most 3rd-party apps will support multi-touch.

Yeah, that can be annoying but I think its worth it to have the batter built in because they are able to make them larger and last longer.
