  • you are sooooo good! i love your lyrics!! you're a big fan of dylan and connor oberst im guessing?

  • hey man good music!

  • I'm so behind in watching viddies.... :)

This is a wonderfully complicated song.... lovely melody and words of great distance... interesting contrast. I like it a lot! Suze

  • There is something about this melody that makes me focus so hard on the notes you play..especially around 1:58. Josef, another brilliant piece of work, lyrically, vocally...and I love the backdrop you are playing against too..

The first 4 lines of this song are what I keep going back to..I don't think I've ever heard anything describe emotional distance better. I want to steal those lines and write a story! haha.:P

    faved and playlisted

  • "I just may mirror your careless ways"

So strong... Love it J, top shelf. Wonderful.

  • 5*'s Buddy this is good stuff!

  • Nice song, beautiful setting.

  • cool! changed the tunning of the guitar to sing this song?? nice picture at your back!

  • Man - it's been so long since I had time to look around on youtube. And now I see your face!!! A handsome one at that. This song is completely perfect as far as I am concerned. Words, tune, delivery. I love it.

  • Class tune Josef,as has come to be expected.Cheers,Ed

  • Nervy delivery dude! Post-Early-Costelloesque: it could be marketed under that monniker even. Fine picking and bending too naturally. If Federer were a muso he couldn't have played it any better.

  • ...this song didn't pop up in my subs box, grrr!

You are a great lyricist mate, the emotion and imagery that come from each of your songs is amazing, especially this one.

I really enjoyed the music as well, the way you played that guitar sounded very 'banjo-like', awesome stuff :)

Oh, and that's such beautiful scenery behind you!

  • you are such an awesome songwriter.. i love these lyrics and the way you pick this song.. always great to hear your new tunes! a new favorite for sure!:)

  • Simply beautiful, and perfectly sad.

  • ♥

  • "cause i know all the nowheres where it leads," Awesome!

  • Ohhh I love it! the song, the background, makes me wish I was sitting there too :)

  • Another beautiful original, so unique.

  • Interesting. For some reason I wasn't expecting it to kick right in so quickly.

The Fm is well placed and I really like the Am slowdown - frankly, I was hoping you would end on that and still think it would make a great ending.

  • ah nice! like those note bends and tempo changes. and that background looks amazing, i want to be there!

  • absolutely brilliant man! Even though she has things to pack in the car from her possession-less place. I think that makes you more of a genius. Yup, I've decided, if we were in the same prison I don't think I'd shank ya.. not for just a couple measley smokes anyway.

  • ....Yeah....what Derek said!

  • good song !

  • that looks like a lovely spot to sit and play a bit of gee-tar!!

and the song most certainly does the location justice and vice versa.. brilliant!

  • really cool song fantastic picking!! it looks nice out there great music to go with the scenery

  • Love this. Like how you slow it down and then pick it up again. lyrics are sweet, music, vocals, everything!

  • nice song , so that's what you look like.

  • I can't believe how smooth and precise your guitar work has become. top shelf Mr. Cynic !

  • ugh, i love you. Your so good

  • Josef, a great new song from you. I love it to. You don't flinch lyrically in the face of strained and/or awkward relationships, and you do it in a most artful way.... that is what sets you apart from most of what we hear on YT. Also, great setting for the vid.. my goodness, It is awash in blue.. haha. Talk to you later, Joe ( and I sent sent a link for those "lyrics and chords" :o) -Ron

  • Another well crafted song, Josef. You paint such vivid pictures with your words.

  • Great song! Your songs always seem to come from such a personal place and I am loving how we get to watch you sing them now :) The setting is beautiful and that was some fancy bending of notes there! :)

  • Very good song!!!!!500stars

  • Always the most interesting lyrics from you. Lovely song, my friend. Oh, what a beautiful place you're in there. I would never stop singing! ;)

    Much enjoyed! ~NAncy
